I liked everything about it. The end itself shows how society is divided between feelings and conventions where conventions dictate themselves while feelings only compromise. The drumbeats symbolize anxiety as well as the deafening conventions and pressure under which feelings are crushed. The most painful thing was the earring, the undying love which had to end.
