ഈ പേരു തന്നെയാണ്, അതിന്റെ ട്രയിലർ കണ്ടപ്പോൾ, ഈ ചെറിയ സിനിമയെ കുറിച്ച് പ്രതീക്ഷ നൽകിയത്. കൂടാതെ മാങ്കോസ്റ്റിൻ ക്ലബ് ഇതിനു മുമ്പ് ചെയ്ത സിനിമകളുടെ ഗുണ നിലവാരവും .
കാതൽ എന്ന വാക്ക് മലയാളത്തിൽ അധികം ഉപയോഗിക്കാറില്ലെങ്കിലും അതിന്റെ ഇമ്പവും ഭംഗിയും നമുക്ക് അവഗണിക്കാനാവില്ല. ആ വാക്കിന്റെ ഭംഗിയും വ്യാപ്തിയും ഈ കൊച്ചു മ്യൂസിക്കൽ സിനിമയിലേക്ക് കൊണ്ടു വരാൻ കഥയും സംവിധാനവും നിർവഹിച്ച പ്രത്യുഷിന് കഴിഞ്ഞിട്ടുണ്ട്.
സ്വവർഗാനുരാഗികളുടെ വ്യഥയും വേദനയും ഒറ്റപ്പെടലുമൊക്കെ പലരും പല കാലങ്ങളിൽ, പല തരത്തിൽ പറയാൻ ശ്രമിച്ച പ്രമേയം തന്നെയാണ്. എന്നിട്ടും അതിനെ വേണ്ട വിധത്തിൽ ഉറക്കെ പറയാൻ പലരും മടിക്കുന്നു എന്നതാണ് സത്യം.
ഇതിൽ നിന്നും വ്യത്യസ്തമായി , അവരുടെ വേദനകൾ മാത്രമല്ല, അതിനപ്പുറം അവരുടെ പ്രണയവും കുറച്ചുറക്കെ പറയാൻ ശ്രമിക്കുന്ന കൊച്ചു സിനിമയാണ് " കാതലോരം"
ചെറുപ്പം മുതൽ തന്നെ ജഗ്ഗുവിന്റെ പ്രണയാനുഭവങ്ങൾ വേദനിപ്പിക്കുന്നതായിരുന്നു. അത് സമൂഹം അവന്റെ പുറത്ത് നൽകുന്ന അടിയായാണ് അവന് അനുഭവപ്പെടുന്നത്. ജീവിതത്തിലുടനീളം ്് അവനേൽക്കുന്ന ഈ അടിയെ വളരെ സമർത്ഥമായി സംവിധായകൻ ഉപയോഗിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
വളർന്നപ്പോൾ ജഗ്ഗുവിന്റെ ജീവിതത്തിലേക്ക് മറ്റൊരാൾ കടന്നു വരുന്നുണ്ട്. എങ്കിലും അവരെ പരസ്പരം അടുപ്പിക്കുന്നത് വെറും രതിയാണോ അതോ അതിനുമപ്പുറത്തേക്ക് വളരുന്ന കാതലാണോ എന്നവർക്ക് തിരിച്ചറിയാൻ കഴിയുന്നില്ല. സ്വന്തം സ്വത്വത്തെ തിരിച്ചറിയാനും അതിനെ അംഗീകരിക്കുവാനും അവർക്കു കഴിയാത്തതിന്റെ ആത്മസംഘർഷമാണ് സിനിമയുടെ രണ്ടാം പകുതിയിൽ നാം കാണുന്നത്.
ആ സംഘർഷത്തിന്റെ, ആയാസകരമായ ഉയരങ്ങൾ കയറി, അവരൊടുവിൽ അവരുടെ കാതലോരങ്ങൾ കണ്ടെത്തുക തന്നെ ചെയ്യുന്നുണ്ട്.
പതിനഞ്ചു മിനിറ്റിനുള്ളിൽ പറഞ്ഞു തീർക്കാൻ പ്രയാസമുള്ള വിഷയമാണിത്. ഈ ഹ്യസ്വ സിനിമയുടെ അണിയറ പ്രവർത്തകർ ആ പ്രയാസത്തെ അനായാസം മറി കടന്നിരിക്കുന്നു.
