- I've always wanted to try making a river aquarium and finally I made one!
Key design aspects: long tank, Intake and outlet on opposite sides, and use an external pump if your filter just didn't cut it.
The fish I added are now some of my absolute favorites: Bamboo Shrimp & The Hillstream Loach.
Let me know what you thought of it!
Hope you enjoyed,
-Bryan

Everyone is doing this now, and Everyone should. I think it's very healthy to know how to and do take care of an ecosystem. Imagine if we all did. Nice work, thats fantastic.
they all look the same, getting kinda tired of seeing it actually. No one is creative.
I’m glad TH-cam recommended your channel to me. This content is great and the pacing of the video is so well done.
Thank you! I'm glad the video reached you as well
Wow, that’s a pretty tank. Your videos are great. Keep up the good work.
Thank you very much!
Ein echt schönes Bachlaufaquarium und genau die richtige "Heimat" für die Flossensauger! 👍
the bamboo shrimp were a great addition - great tank and video man
Thank you very much man!
Fantastic!
such a beautiful tank! and I love your chill narration style, very easy to listen too
Thank you very much!

I'm really interested in river set ups, i love the idea and look and the fish and animals that can thrive in the fast flow
Hillstream loaches are the best! So happy you added them to this set up.
Loved the video! Would love to see an update in the future 👍🏽
Thank you! I will absolutely make one!
love these types of videos, hope you do more
Just did! thank you!
Bro that's an amazing setup right there!! This video diserve hundred of likes 💯
Thank you!! I thought it was going to get no views or likes haha so I appreciate your comment!!
Thank you I truly enjoyed your video.
You did a great job on this river tank!
Thank you!
The monstera will work. Same with photos, bamboo, philodendron(i think is monstera), peace lilly. Etc etc. I have 1 tank that has all of these on top. Growing for 6 years right now. Its a mental green bush on top.
That's impressive!! I'll try some of those next
7:35 they seem like playing.
This is what I was hoping to hear! haha
awesome tank! i have a similar style with a 20 long. i have a single bamboo shrimp too, one of my favorite additions. you should add some stiphodon gobies!
I like this idea! Now I'm getting a new tank haha
That looks like a raphidaphora tetresperma you added in there rather than a monstera.
It'll actually work great in there, but you might want to make sure at least one node is above the water. They're vining plants, and will lose their fenistration if it isn't growing vertically/gripping on to something.
This is like the most beautiful nano tank I've seen. For real I'd pay someone to scape my tank like this if I had the time for a tiger pleco
That's crazy you were able to tell!! Thank you for the advice though, I adjusted them to be in a better position. And Thank you!!
Very cool
is that Aquatek in Austin??? I love that place, big drive for me but I've gotten some awesome fish from there (most notably my kitty tetras)
Small world! This is it, it's like they always have the newest species of tetras hahaha
Love the video ❤
Thanks!
Great video dude, you should add another species for some more biodiversity
I think you're right, I'll start looking into some cool species to add. Open to suggestions haha
@@thefishtankexperimentWith a large tank you could add some shinners to the mix!
@@thefishtankexperimentmaybe a few white cloud mountain minnnows.
How about some mountain minnows?
Where or what kind of water pump is that to replicates the flow of a river?
Tank looks amazing, just wondering where you got the river stone from?
The bigger stones I had to get from a local fish tank store because those are the specific colors I was looking for, but some of the smaller ones I picked up outside. I know some people will go to landscaping businesses and get their stones there for better prices though
Why not just attach lily pipes to your main filter? Less tubing around the back. Also don’t think you could overpopulate that tank with shrimp.
Be careful if you add other fish to the tank. The hillstream loaches can be pretty aggressive when there is food around and mine have made 4 of my fish jump out of the tank :(. So now I have a lid on. Very cool tank, I like it a lot!
Really what kind of fish jumped out , i thought about adding the hill stream loaches to my tank
@@JohnGarcia-zm3wd 3 Green rasboras and a peacock gudgeon. I added a new peacock gudgeon and the hillstream loach hates her! Especially around feeding time, I hope it will calm down soon! It doesn’t chase fish bigger than itself.
All you had to do was to just had a wave maker, that is what I use for my river tank. Along with my filter
Didn't know about the wave maker, I'll have to look into that, thanks!
What size tank is this?
This is a UN 60S Tank, 23.62 x 14.17 x 7.09"- 10 Gallons
my tiger hillstream deleted my shrimp population in my tank. everyday id see atleast 1 large neo torn apart
Sounds like it had too much tiger in him!
@@thefishtankexperiment lol 🤣
Then I did THIS and then I did THAT and then I did THE OTHER and then I did SOMETHING *nervous giggle*
Uptalk sucks.
Although harsh, this is good feedback. Let me know your thoughts on some of my other videos as well if you'd like
This is a nice aquascape not a true reptile tank. I have seen a lot of videos. Just copied other tubers.
May I ask what makes it not a true river tank? And what is copied?
