    I struggled for hours trying to put in the new lock cylinder and couldn't do it. Looked up every bit of information on internet I could find. Then I watched this video and learned the trick and putting it in was a snap. Thanks for making this Great Video!!!!!!

    Having the same issue on my 91 crx si. Followed all the instructions, column lock is depressed and cylinder is in position 1 but it still won’t sit in place. It sits 1 click just before it’s supposed to settle. Not sure what’s stopping it. My key turns the ignition tumblr no problem so I don’t think it’s broken. Really don’t want to be that guy with 2 keys, 1 for the door and 1 for the ignition, any ideas?

      @@tylermarmon__92 I’d forget the pick holding the slide in place and just use my finger. I did this before and got my old cylinder to work. This time I can’t get either to work. As I look down the hole it appears that the long thing in the middle of the cylinder fits into a slot. That is 90 degrees to the right of the top button and puts the key in the third position. To top off my troubles, I’ve got a flat tire that I couldn’t plug and I’m on my wife’s side of the garage.

    Thanks you for this video, Tyler. It will help me quite a bit. Now for a tough one. The wires with the whit plastic disc that goes on the other end of the cylinder.. someone tried to steal my CRX and broke off the heads of the 2 small screws that hold the wires in place. I have a big zip tie holding it tight so the little "L" shaped piece turns and starts the car. I do need a new cylinder, but need to know how to get the broken off screws out of the housing or change the housing as the wires do not fit tight. Very small and tapping/ rethreading seems like quite a job. Any suggestions? Thanks again, you showed me part of an easy (now) job.

      Ian Barber check your local harbor freight, I forget what they’re called but they sell screw extractor kits, it’s basically like a reverse drill bit that drills into the bolt part of the screw in reverse until the screw starts to turn out on it’s own. Idk how small the screws your talking about are but I believe that should work

    • @ianbarber311
      @ianbarber311 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Tyler Marmon thank you, about to go get my cylinder lock and do this. Next stop harbor freight. next I need to see if you or someone has a video of replacing the cam seal on distributor end as I also need to replace my spark plug well o-rings, so with valve rockers out I may as well replace it.

    Question! So I called my local auto parts store, and they have one ignition lock cylinder, but it doesn’t specify if it for a manual, or automatic! Mine is a 5speed , but will it work if it ends up being an ignition cylinder for an automatic ? Thanks

    • @tylermarmon__92
      @tylermarmon__92  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      salvador J bravo I’m pretty sure the cylinder should be the same. I don’t see why that part would be any different it’s basically just a lock tumbler the controls the ignition

  • @FuckPunkers
    @FuckPunkers 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    My crx takes a few trys to start up, the battery works and everything but when I turn the key, I get nothing but the sound of the fuel pump. It usually takes about 10 turns for it to crank (sometimes it happens on the first), and it cranks over fine. Do you think this is my problem?

    • @tylermarmon__92
      @tylermarmon__92  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      scoot probably not, this is more so for if your key is messed up, broken or if your key tumbler is messed up. Just because your battery is charged doesn’t necessarily mean your getting spark to the engine, check your plugs, wires and distributor. If all that’s fine start looking for fuel issues. I had an issue kind of similar to that. Even though I could hear my fuel pump it was on its way out and wasn’t sending enough fuel and would take multiply times to finally get it to start. Replaced my fuel pump and never had that issue again.

      @tylermarmon__92  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you’re replacing the lock cylinder then I’m assuming you don’t care about the one in there. If that’s the case, on these older Honda’s you can use a shaved key or a butter knife or a screw driver to make it turn. The lack of security in these old Honda lock cylinders is one of the main reasons they’re still one of the top stolen vehicles in the US

    • @cjbailey7950
      @cjbailey7950 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    • @tylermarmon__92
      @tylermarmon__92  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jeph Leyba honestly could probably just buy a key uncut, file it down some and get it to turn, that’s why older Honda’s are stolen all the time, it’s stupid easy to. That’s why I put an ignition kill switch in that CRX when I had it

      New plugs and wires? So far I've don't just about everything on my crx aside from rebuilding the engine. I did have this issue for a bit and my fuel pump fixed it. Maybe also check your fuel filter, it's fairly cheap (I think mine cost $25) and very easy to do.

    • @evamay6188
      @evamay6188 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      now I'm not getting power to the fuel pump at all... someone else switched out my distributor and mentioned the gap the arc had to jump seemed wide but that it was making it so it must be the pump but after we changed it and it still didn't start someone else messed with the relay which did get it running but then it stopped every other minute and eventually stopped starting altogether...so frustrating
