im sorry but ea have so fucked up the defending this year, when u try to tackle u either give a foul away, or u just dont win the ball at all and they continue to attack, or they just hold onto the ball even when ur pressing stand tackle, literally feel like ur player doesnt even want to tackle, no matter where i position myself no matter if im pressing i CANT win the ball back, i play on legendary and every game im getting 30% possesion and its pissing me off, theres a fine line between realistic and just fucking stupid, whats the point in playing career mode when im spending 90% of my time watching the bots with the ball and note even attacking myself, and when i do finally attack the computer are so good at defending icant even create chances unless i abuse pace, im so fed up already theve ruined defending this year idc
Just use the L2 movement in to the opponent and tackle only when you’re 100% sure
And learn the r3 switching and you’ll be a beast

Absolutely. You literally can NOT get the ball off the AI. It's like the jockey and press buttons don't work. The AI even ignores sliding tackles.

This FIFA is completely trash I have never conceded so many dumb goals because of dumb defenders not being able to tackle correctly. Like even if I'm 3-0 up it doesn't matter because its so easy to come back in the game from defending mistakes. This has been the most tilting FIFA in yearsssssss
@Ok Cool you probably have different control settings. look in controller settings and see what button you have changed it to.
Every game I play I have to make around 30 passes to get anywhere near the goal and I lose the ball and my opponent will make 2 or 3 passes and scores my defence no we’re to be seen

I felt the same. Opponents move faster and agile. Especially r1 dribble and l1 dribble make me feel hard to defend.

People with bad connections will have no chance this year with the current state of defending.
People with fast ping pong skills will have more difficulties with defending as FIFA 21 must be played with more football realism. Playing defensive matches gives me in FIFA 21 much more fun as in previous game versions. One huge advice I can give is.. make if you are in off ball situations.. tactical moves to bring your off position players, especially defenders (select them with your R-stick) in better field positions and try to cut off with them the opponent offensive lines, use tackling only as a last defence option.
My tackle button only works like 3/10 times. That's so weird, when charging to an opponent dribbling the ball, my player would be just looking lost without the tackle efforts.
Went from FIFA 18 to this, honestly feel like I'm getting punished for not buying the other FIFA's over the years...

Bro same. I have a friend who i played against almost like 50 times before in the previous fifas. He won only once against me in his lifetime. In fifa 20 we played 10 times and he has defeated me 8 times and has outplayed me everytime. Its fucked up
@@shaiaanhaque1861 The only way it's playable is if you put it on constant pressure. Then the defenders suddenly come to life. In every other ''tactical setting'' they just stand still.

A small tip as an addition:
Use "right analog stick switch ON BALL" instead of the default option "right analog stick switch ON PLAYER".
I am still loosing a lot of games only win few.But I hope that this video will help me defend
Sliding tackles are great in Fifa21? Playing with my friends on daily basis and it's, in my opinion, most unreliable way to get the ball from the opponent. It's very lagish, sometimes even go through the player without taking a ball, or player just stumbles over a bit.
Is it me or did defending get nerfed. Like my opponent threw balls it past my defence all the time. I now rely so much on cutting pass lanes and marking defenders with my second player and marking the possible player that will be passed to with my main
This explains why I was getting so frustrated with my midfielders not coming back to make a tackle when I was using the CB’s I now know to use the mid to track back and leave the CB’s in position

I really hate the last man defending in all the fifa games; the defenders always follow an opposing striker run and open up space instead of letting them run offside and maintain the defensive form

hold R1 on ps4 or use defensive tactic heavy pressure, helps me a lot but sometimes when i try to step onto the ball they just run past me like thats so realistic

when move back this 1-2 meters space the striker will simply shoot the ball with a great advantage that shooting from any angle will be successful , if you tried to get closer he will very easily get through you no matter what you try to do , simply Fifa 21 give a very big and unreasonable advantage to attacking over defending !!
Would request you to do a video on the defensive tactics..it looks, maybe im wrong, when playing against AI, all the players are on aggressive interception or maybe constant pressure..when trying to apply the same to my team, the player movement becomes sluggish and run out of steam pretty fast..and my players never seem to be aggressove enough to win the ball back..yet when playing against AI thats not the case..hoping to get a reply from you on this..thanks in advance

Hey guys got a big question has standing tackle been nerfed? should i use R1+O for an instant hard tackle? everytime am defending on the wing i try to use the standing tackle and i just cant seem to get the ball i tackle the attacker and he just passes me and the same thing happens with my CBs i stand tackle and usually they get right through me even with strong defenders like Laporte the only way i can defend is if i don't press him at all and i just jockey on him with hopes i can get the ball or just slide tackle witch is effective any ideas?cheers
Any tips on how to stop through-balls that penetrate my line of defence between my full backs? A lot of times my opponent passes to his striker and the balls just passes between center backs. Thanks!

Whether you'y re good at defending or not good at defending I find it amazing that the AI defending in this game does nothing but the AI attack do everything. This situation leads to a completely unbalanced game. Imagine this was the case in real life the defenders just stood still and the attackers just ran through them with no effort at all nobody would watch football
The defending on this game should come with a red carpet for the opposition

I don’t know if you can make tutorial for the defense tactics, honestly when the opponent push high against me Ans passing around the penalty box, I want the CM to over the area along with me while I am using CDM Bc I notice the when I use the CDM to cover the area in front of the penalty box, the CM Stay front and just watch.
Yeah it feel like we have to control all the players on the pitch at the same time. So stupid. And when I’m covering the passing lane of the opponent that are making a run the other CM just stand there doing nothing even when the player that are holding the ball is right beside him. He just standing there and not even a tackle or jockey is made

Yeah I suck ass at defending. Control my CM/CDM or LB/RB. Been playing for 6 months after a 4 year break. I just make too many errors to take the CB full time.

How about the keepers? Can they be manually moved again with pressing in on the right analog stick. I keep hearing that keepers are weak in fifa 21, so I'm wondering if this feature will help with angles and turning away shots.
What about defending against AI? AI dribbles 3x more than anyone in the clips you showed.
Defending against Legendary AI for example just depends on luck 😂 The always get the rebounds and every deflected pass or shot flys magically back to them. It’s easier playing online than against high level AI in my opinion
Yes it’s fucking ridiculous It’s pissing me off they dribble every single fucking time!!! Even fucking defenders it’s like impossible to get an interception!! It’s way more challenging than fifa 20.... I rarely get a clean sheet and sometimes find my self conceding 5 or 6 goals on legendary!!!

I absolutely suck and defending, as well as attacking. I just suck at the game to be honest, I have never been so bad at FIFA until 21 came out. Like I keep losing to players with freaking Son, Rashford and Moura as their top 3, basically anything with lot of pace, they just run through my defense

What kind of controller settings do you have for defending? Legacy or tactical? And can you explain the difference
At online you have only tactical defending. Legacy the defender runs at the ball to take it button x. Tactical is defender is jockying to the ball when you press the x button it runs to a player and it covers it but not taking the ball and to take it you need press L2 and take the ball manual.

Whenever I try to do running jockey it changes my player.
I've checked my settings and can't find anything. Any ideas?
1.- you might have accidentally changed your control settings and inverted the buttons for jockey and switch players.
2.- you might be pushing the wrong button.
3.- Your controller doesn't work.
The AI is very dumb when I call a secondary player press and even at normal times. They dont touch a ball moving in front; so lame...

The most dumb thing on Fifa is the Opponent can do 20+ skill moves in 1 game but the on the other hand, the other player have to use Tactical, i want the OG defending to be used in Online.

FIFA 21 Is made for newcomers and snowflakes that enjoy having unrealistic scorelines! Ex. 6-5, 8-6, 4-4, 7-4. It's not your fault that you cant defend, EA intentionally made the game to be like how it is! Basically you've 11 mannequins in the pitch, and you can only control one at a time whilst the opponents AI is making runs all over the pitch. I wish another game developer have the same licenses... FIFA will be forgotten. take an example of 2k and NBA Live, 2k forced EA's NBA Live into extinction!

All well and good but I do all the things you said anyway. All of your clips are against a human player. The AI is a joke. They just shield and you cannot get near them on Legendary or above.
I have a question. How do people constantly pressure my players while also attacking hard? I feel like I can’t get anywhere because the defense closes in on all my players. I play seasons and that’s how it’s been for all my matches. My defense just doesn’t pressure the same as theirs.
