Ovvy why does the L3 in your live controller is showing in blue color it means that you press it or press and hold it just like you press a button on your controller if you only move the L it won't show the left analog in blue color you have to press or press and hold the left analog so the left analog show up in blue color on your live controller video what is that used for???

I am exactly like that. I've been playing Fifa for about 6 years now, and I'm still about the same level. I really can't get better at it doesnt matter what I do. I watch so many videos hoping to find a way to crack the good player code. All the tutorials talk about jokey movements, standing/sliding tackles and the right stick player switch but still nothing helps. Like you said, when the whistle is blown....it is back to square 1. I mostly get beaten and sometimes I win and at times it ends in draw but no improvement. I feel a little better that I am not the only one.
@@flowers379_ Exactly. It just takes discipline, I guess the pros are full time and need to improve whereas we play it casually for couple hours a day or whatever, we don't have the incentive to improve
As a very casual player - im finding it extremely difficult. Too hard.
Even for the non-casuals it's way harder to defend.
Manual defending went from being better if you're good at it to being required. It's worth learning, game is a lot more fun if defending isn't just holding contain and waiting for the AI to get you the ball back.

@@betoherrera333 play with two CDM, both stay back, one set to balanced, one set to cut passes. Use sprint-jockey a lot. This basic shit for manual defending should be enough for DIV4.
Last year's defending was made way too easy, now we're suffering

Also if u press tackle button twice its a quick tackle and ur defnder does not lose shape and time against opponent st.

Mate thanks for this video you sir are a legend!!! This has without dout changed my game, hands down. I used to be awesome at fifa till fifa 14. I got this game n got spanked all the time cuz I couldn’t defend like I used to. This video showed me that with just one or two changes to how I used the jokey and sprint I could play like I used to. 3 weeks later 8-0, 6-1. This is a must watch. now I’m going to see if you can help with penalties and free kicks.

There seems to be a button combination that keeps the defender perfectly steady between the opponent and the goal. And since the last update or the one before that nearly impossible to lose. And if you lost the defender, he's right back in front of you two steps later. Has there been a change not noted in the patch notes or am I imagining things? It felt so good finally being able to punish opponents for their mistakes again, now everyone's defending like a god again. Passes are also intercepted way more often again. Any ideas/comments on that, Ovvy? Thanks a bunch in advance!
What we should do if the players doesn't react while defending and defenders run wide without controlling them, is it any issue with fifa 20 on ps4?
I like putting your videos when grinding squad battles, that way I can practice while u talk.

Scott Coleman The defending in this game is awful, and I’ve played FIFA for the past 6 years. The way your defenders get exposed is embarrassing, they just stand there half the time and let opponents sail right around them. I’ve just had a game where my full backs were getting exposed by long balls every time, they just stand there and watch the ball sail over them, by the time you’ve switched player it’s too late because you can’t catch up with them.

You need to start being honest about this game fella, because the defending is a joke. I just played Man City and couldn't get near them, they kept on hitting long balls that cleared my fullbacks and they just stood there watching the ball go over them. The issue I have is there's absolutely nothing you can do about it happening, because by the time you switch to that defender the attacker or winger are gone. This game is a big steaming pile of horseshit to be honest, think it's time to go back to playing PES, because at least it plays a realistic game of football even if it's presentation isn't as good as FIFA.

Dude can you make a tutorial on how to defend long lofted through balls ? Like your L2 and R2 did help to defend a little but not when my opponents deliver long lofted through balls and my players can never catch up to them.
I would add to this that you should try push them in a certain direction, usually towards the sides and cut them off from passes and keep getting closer and closer with the jockey movement. They either pass the ball back or lose it. Works most of the time but you can’t stop ever pass every time.
I miss the original defense button; right bumper (calling second player).

Well it used to be "X" button to perform that jockey movement. I was holding "X" for the whole time getting my ass kicked everytime :D

The solution is nothing, you let them score. Because the harder you try the frustate you get.
I used RB / R1 for run, square for shoot, like pes, so it is a defferent buttons. So please told u button configuration first.
I myself use pess button configuration too soo i can help ya with that

Teammate contain is R2
running is R1

i dont get it, switching with right stick is seriously impossible for me, how can you play without using L1??? I concentrate more on switching then on the game and get a instant loose, i tryd 10games without using L1 and this sucks >.>
Yup, the defending is totally messed up in this years FIFA. My fullbacks are constantly getting exposed by long balls, it goes straight over them and they just stand there watching the ball, by the time you've switched player it's too late and your opponent has got in behind, it's annoying as hell.

Im playing fifa now about 5 or 6 years proper and ive always been decent in and around div 2 and 3 in fut and sometimes div 1. But this fifa im struggling with defence and its not as enjoyable anymore so i want to improve my defence and im hoping this video does that.

I find myself passing the ball to my opponent more often then keeping posession when defending a cross or intercepting a pass (by pressing x on ps). How to avoid that? Anyone please?
Just clear it, using your shooting bitton, your opponent will still get it, but it goes further and gives you time to think
Ovvy do you think that strafe dribbling should be nerfed? Many people are hating it but I think it's a really good way to keep possession against the stupid team press guys who used to just turn on team press without knowing the mechanic of pressing and without knowing how to manually press.

My problem's not defending with the player I'm controlling, rather my defenders are always in the wrong positions/ not man marking and the opposition ALWAYS finds the gaps very easily. Any tips for getting my CDMs/CBs to actively lockdown the opponent?

Not this year. Had to concede one corner goal in 40+ games (by VvD) and crosses are completely useless

There's using a contain button, then there's AI tracking off-ball players until the back line looks like a lightning bolt, or leaving 10 yards of space when the opposing player is at the top of the box. It should never be THIS difficult to have a basic AI defensive setup.
