Antti Brax ya i’m sure they both respect each other. It’s two completely different builds Todd’s build is full PP and twin turbos as just looking at the intake and intercooler design it’s very different then robs. Robs running no pp an a single turbo. both are very special and took an incredible amount of engineering, time, and dedication i’m sure. A vid with todd and rob would be amazing.

Technically speaking Rob Dahm's RX-7 is 4WD instead of AWD because he can go from RWD to AWD.

That is without a doubt the most beautiful looking and nastiest sounding Mazda I have ever seen. I had a stock '73 RX3 in around '83, did a restorative build (my first one of 4 ever). It ran well. That's all I'm sayin lol. Since then have been living precariously through the Dorito junkies on youtube. Thanks for sharing what you do.
That's pretty cool, I'd love to do a full oem+ restoration on an FC and put a 26B in it someday, but for now I'll stick with my 92' SC400 haha. And honestly shoutout to the Vargas Bros...they have been doing great things for the rotary community for years now.

I didn't see him address the scarred housing, I hope his engine has longevity. SUPER amateur mistakes, but I give him credit bc he has filmography distractions and has made it work.

probably couldn't happen due to this owner using the lamborghini gallardo manual trans which is what Rob was originally going to use for his until he found out its weak and it couldn't really do burnouts because it would destroy the gears also im willing to bet this car would probably pull Rob due his going to be extremely light weight (he is going to a carbon fibre body)

The big difference in the builds is definitely going to be the steps in which they took to finish them. This guy went for the finish the car approach and Rob went for the get it to the dyno asap and fuck the body approach. lol

@@ForceFedFab No, I'm actually gonna fab a plate and buy a metal ball shifter and fab the setup. I'm installing a T56 from a CTS-V in my 20b Rx7 and that transmission has linkage that's easily modifiable.
@rotaryperfection my build has a 6 speed Lamborghini transaxle that's why it uses the gated shifter

The minute I saw it I knew it was the best. All the detailed video later just co formed as I watched it disbelief that this was actually built... and finished. All the work on the front fenders from M3 and bumper from another car, all to make that RX3 front legit look factory finished. Even better than factory. That red paint work is flawless and silly deep. 12/10 easy

I kept telling rob dahm to have you 2 do his tune and get the 4 rotor set up but he's hard headed and wants to do it his self . I can tell you his don't light off like this one will he has to keep cranking it tell it grabs. as soon as you showed the trans I knew were he got the all wheel drive from there is only one company that uses that shift gate .. the owner of this build has done a stellar job to make such a clean and compact build and still get all wheel drive in a factory sized shell it's beautiful.

That honeycomb grill along with the dual headlight makes the car looks really aggressive. Looks like a RX-7 on steroids. It has muscle car written all over it. I love it.

I’m not a fan of the front. It looks like a weird Challenger, or old Camaro. I think a stock RX-7 front looks better. Sick build though. Maybe cooler than Rob Dahm’s. It was definitely smarter using the Lambo trans and front diff. That stuff is WELL proven. Rob has all kinds of one off shit that will almost certainly cause some issues.

for some reason im not much of a fan of the blended in widebody, personally i prefer mad mikes rx7 with the rx3 nose and bolt on flares but thats just personal taste, otherwise using VAG gear for the 4wd is insane and i cant wait to see this thing rip. I dont care who did what first i only see the projects and this is amazing like every other rotary build on youtube. EVERYONE KEEPING THE ROTARY DREAM ALIVE IS A LEGEND.

What is the different between awd ad 4wd?
I haven't been following his build really, but I heard he used a rb26 trans? That would make it AWD.
The difference between 4WD and AWD is a center differential. 4WD has the front and rear axle speed locked together by gears or a chain in the transfer case, so they don't tend to turn well and you lose use of things like the hand brake because brakes on one end also slow down the other end. AWD allows the two axles to turn at different speeds, and negates a lot of those issues. More advanced active center differentials can adjust the ratio of torque split allowing you to go from AWD to what is basically RWD
@@ScootyPuff_Jr the Rb26 is pretty special when it comes to Transmissions as it's AWD but can be modified to have a 'dead man's switch's which turn the electromagnet in the transfer case off making it RWD until you press the switch again.

@@Off3er RD's RX7 is definitely AWD. 4WD is a more like a welded diff, whereas AWD can be either open or LSD. That's why 4WD is for offroad, because on pavement you would be scrubbing the tires whenever you went around a corner. Offroad you're on loose dirt and usually low speed so it doesn't cause issues.

On a track, I think Rob would win with his lower center of gravity and longer wheelbase. On a drag strip, i think Todd might win with his full P-port and having a lot more power than Rob(pending dyno)
