Hey, Forge mate! Thanks so much for this fantastic comment. We were also in a rut of not finding good, new music so we wanted to take others on the journey of discovering new stuff, so we appreciate it when others let us know that has happened. Have a great weekend!
I'm almost in 100% agreement with you. I do like To Serve Man just a little bit more than Human Jerky and Humanure, but other than that I would rank these all in the same order.
I consider Death Atlas to be my 3rd favorite album of all time and when i went into Terrasite i was not expecting that i would think about changing that. Now Here i am having them share that spot because both are so god damn awesome
Terrasite is better then Death Atlas in the fact that Travis didn't overuse the same clean chorus formula throughout every single song, so when the cleans do come up they have much more impact. They didn't "force" anything on Terrasite so it just flows soooo much better. "Just Another Body" is probably one of the greatest closers to any metal album that I have ever heard. Even better then Death Atlas which I honestly thought they were never going to be able to top but they did it with "Just Another Body". They have absolutely peaked as a band and it's amazing to see them starting to get the recognition that they deserve.
@@Remmy0930 i personally think just another body couldhave been cut in favor of one or two better tracks or having solastalgia as the closer. Or Cutting the song in half and keeping the first half in favor of making a shorter closer track that doesnt drag as much. Tho this is just a minor issue i have with the album cuz as a whole it is a masterpiece, tho the closer honestly shouldhave been approached differently.
I remember listening to Human Jerky and Homovore when they came out and deciding I didn't want to listen to Cattle Decap ever again. I gave them another shot with karma bloody karma because I liked the album title. Been a brutal and badass musical journey with them since. Top tier vid
Death Atlas is definitely my overall favorite. But Terrasite is absolutely god tier as well, I have only listened to it like 4 times so far, so it could grow on me. That being said Monolith and every album after it are S tier to me.
I like that Terrasite plopped through my letterbox as I was watching this. I also think "plopped" is a word befitting anything related to Cattle Decapitation.
Thanks for going a bit more end-depth with the entire history of Cattle Decap, trying to watch reviews about Terrasite just have comments about how Travis hates grind, but like, thats what was stopping them from progressing for years, i was in highschool-ish when they dropped their first album and honestly was blinded by slipknot, but I understand his dislike for grind, had them stuck for years, Terrasite though, I listen to constantly, now Slipknot, I occasionally remember...excellent tier list!
@@forgemastermetal the unerasable past off DA and just another body are perfect ending to both albums. The unerasable psst is the only deathmetal song to make me cry.
@Forgemaster Metal Reviews well i haven't gotten to listen to terrasite all the way through, so atm death atlas and extinction, respectively, but terrasite is probably going to take an s after a full listen.
Yeah, the last four albums are something else. It's very rare for a band to put out that many albums in a row of that quality. Very few bands even reach 3 in a row that are so good. 4 is unheard of. (I think Archspire is managing this feat too. For them the last 3 are perfect.)

Terrasite is probably my AOTY so far - Fires in the Distance is close. I'd rank it third in their discography behind Death Atlas and Monolith, which are both near perfect records - my only complaint about either would be the interlude tracks on Death Atlas makes the album drag a bit.

I agree with your rankings. This band just keeps getting better. Plus I saw them live for the first time Tuesday and they were incredible. Travis is an absolute beast of a frontman and singer. Anthropocene got me into them and they've kept me interested and gotten better with each release.
More of a prog fan here(The Ocean, Leprous, Rishloo), but man Cattle is fucking INSANE, especially Monolith-Terrasite. I saw them live for like the 5th time in Tampa a few days ago and holy shit Terrasite slaps live.
Wow! I didn’t realize how long Cattle Decapitation has been around! I went through their early stuff and it was nice to see how they have progressed. The new one is worth the hype.

Dave Otero is my GOAT. He is the bass god producer. I didn't know he produced this album, but it completely makes sense. He makes Allegaeon and Inferi sound amazing.
Cattle Decap Ranking Albums (to me): S: Monolith Of Inhumanity, Terrasite A: The Harvest Floor, The Anthropocene Extinction, Death Atlas B: Karma, Bloody, Karma C: Humanure D: Homovore E: Human Jerky F: To Serve Man.
Discovered Cattle with Forced gender and got the lp, been a huge fan of their last four. The band’s progression and Travis changing his singing style up has been amazing.

I just loved the direct snd uncompromising delivery of the "fuck you humanity" that was never reached before or after. Because of the realness of the subject. There is no what if, no imagine when... it's here, now, you, me, fuck everything. I miss that s little on the latest two records. Although I know it's seemlingly a consecutive story, kind of... anthropocene being the now, atlas being the end soon coming, terrasite being the after... well. Anthropocene Extinction has the best lyrics, best delivered ever... my opinion...
Death Atlas was one hell of a tectonic shift. I find myself going back to that masterpiece constantly. Side note, is there a chance that we'll see a Napalm Death ranking in the future?
They are my favorite Modern Death Metal band. I don’t think they have a single bad album really. I like the Grindcore type of stuff. Admittedly I love more Deathgrind stuff like this. But tbh though this Band didn’t find Greatness until Harvest Floor, would say they became my favorite modern death metal band since that record, it really feels they became Cattle Decapitation with that record. . Monolith of Inhumanity and Anthropocene Extinction are my 2 Favorite Modern death metal records. Death Atlas was a interesting and great album. And Terrasite is a Very easy AOTY contender for me. (Would even argue it’s better than Death Atlas)
Not really digging Terrasite tbh. I like the less layered and more "slammy grindy" sound they used to have during the monolith era. The album is very well written and can forsure tell alot of work went into it. I just prefer more raw grindy types of death metal.
I found this band with Anthopocene and I was absolutely sold. But, as time has passed I actually rate Harvest Floor higher than any because I feel that it was sort of flirting with the sound to come, but it was so inventive, weird and, dare I say, proggy. In hindsight, from Monolith and forward I feel that they just went AC/DC and said "this is it, this is our sound and we'll do it over and over again" and I'm quite frankly bored now.
Great video guys! The Harvest Floor is as far back as I prefer to revisit. The earlier albums are fine but don't do much for me. My rankings are as follows: 1. Monolith 2. Anthropocene 3. Death Atlas 4. Terrasite 5. Harvest Floor ...... everything else. Cheers!
Ahh this was a great general review of Cattle, this band is also one of my favourite metal bands ever! Gotta say To Serve Man to me is their worst album solely cause the drumming drags everything down, exhaustingly repetitive and sloppy, and way too loud in the mix, though the instrumentals feel refreshing for the time and I find Travis' vocals the most gnarly in that record. With my favourite records being Monolith of Inhumanity, The Harvest Floor, and The Anthropocene Extinction, Monolith being my full introduction to the band, a nasty package full of the most creative and refreshing death metal I've ever heard! But overall there's a lot of stuff to enjoy from all their records. Though since Death Atlas and now Terrasite, it was kind of hard to get into those records (especially Terrasite, but Death Atlas has a lot of bangers). They all still sound great though! But despite all that, I will always cheer them on cause these guys poured all their heart into their music for decades and I couldn't ask for more! EDIT: After some second listens, I am REALLY liking the singles off Terrasite! (the non-single tracks are harder to get into).
Damn good album. Loved the last two songs on the album the most. I wouldn't call the album amazing but it's damn good. Personally I'd give it an 8.5/10. I wholeheartedly agree that this band has just gotten better and better as they age. Good video guys.
@@forgemastermetal it may take more listens... I've listened to it once all the way through but on the first listen it kind of lost its way in the middle section. Loved the begining and the ending but it lost a bit in the middle. We'll see as what the future holds.
It's kind of scary if Travis lyrics prove to be so prophetic. For now they sound to me extremely misanthropic, but hell, I don't want to be part of the world described in his records.
Regret and the grave didnt come out on Humanure. S tier- Terrasite, Death Atlas A tier- Anthropocene, Monolith, Harvest Floor B Tier- To Serve Man, Karma C Tier- Humanure D Tier- Human Jerky, Homover
I had never listened to Cattle Decapitation before and checked out Terrasite yesterday. Maybe it was because I was tired or just wasn't ready for Travis' weird "goblin" vocals but I left the album asking myself "why don't I like this?" Obviously the album is very good but I didn't leave it raving about it like other people are. Of course I will give it more spins to see if it clicks.
Did you guys see the music video for A Photic Doom? Pretty creepy. 😨😆 Think I'm gonna' have Terrasite and Death Atlas on for a while, boys. I know people like to crap on them (and TBH, some of it IS deserved), but I'm also genuinely enjoying the new song from Asking Alexandria.
The song regret and the grave is from harvest floor not from humanure. I love every album they have but I prefer a little more that gore grind disgusting shit from the EPS and older albums, is there anyone like me? Cause the majority prefer the new ones
Death atlas is basically perfection, I've listened to it front to back at least a dozen times over the last few days for preparation of terasite, bout to throw it on... Can't wait
Edit.. I don't think it tops death atlas, having said that it's top 3 after 3 listens, just not enough memorable goblin voice sections😂, and death atlas is so crushingly dark and catchy, it hits me right in those feels Album of the year contender❤
For me it’d be something like: S: Monolith of Inhumanity, The Anthropocene Extinction A: Death Atlas, Terrasite B: The Harvest Floor, Karma Bloody Karma C: Humanure, To Serve Man D: Homovore, Human Jerky Also yes fucking please to your favorite metal albums ever video. I love that stuff.
For me Monolith cannot be topped, Travis uses the "cleans" more sporadically and Kingdom of Tyrants might just be my favorite song of all time, Death Atlas is way too melodic/black metal for me, it's still good but weaker than Monolith, TAE and even Harvest. Terrasite, however is currently just behind Monolith.
I'm not a huge death metal fan, but this band is special. ever since Monolith, they're basically unstoppable.

My rankings are as follows:
1. Monolith
2. Anthropocene
3. Death Atlas
4. Terrasite
5. Harvest Floor
...... everything else.
They should seriously try another mix for To Serve Man. The drums are just SO, SO bad,.
I listened to the entire discography tonight and I couldn't agree more with To Serve Man. Those drums were a constant irritation throughout.
It's HORRIFIC. They should remix that one.
Damn good album. Loved the last two songs on the album the most. I wouldn't call the album amazing but it's damn good. Personally I'd give it an 8.5/10. I wholeheartedly agree that this band has just gotten better and better as they age. Good video guys.
What do you think would have pushed it over the edge to be perfect for you?
@@forgemastermetal it may take more listens... I've listened to it once all the way through but on the first listen it kind of lost its way in the middle section. Loved the begining and the ending but it lost a bit in the middle. We'll see as what the future holds.
Terrasite is a masterpiece. You guys nailed it. 10/10

It's kind of scary if Travis lyrics prove to be so prophetic. For now they sound to me extremely misanthropic, but hell, I don't want to be part of the world described in his records.
Bring back the plague hits way different now lol
No Medium Rarities?!
Na.
Regret and the grave didnt come out on Humanure.
S tier- Terrasite, Death Atlas
A tier- Anthropocene, Monolith, Harvest Floor
B Tier- To Serve Man, Karma
C Tier- Humanure
D Tier- Human Jerky, Homover
We made an oopsy. It happens.
Musics subjective man - nothing wrong with not connecting with a band or sound.
Terrasite is a masterpiece. You guys nailed it. 10/10
For me The Anthropocene is their S-tier, and Monolith and Terrasite coming close second.
We are into that!!
Yeah it’s awesome!
Terrasite is great but Death Atlas definitely holds the crown. The album was almost too good, and really hard to beat.
The song regret and the grave is from harvest floor not from humanure. I love every album they have but I prefer a little more that gore grind disgusting shit from the EPS and older albums, is there anyone like me? Cause the majority prefer the new ones
Yeah, we messed that one up. Woops.
Monolith, Anthro and the Harvist Floor not in S? Disappointment 💀
We only allow ourselves each to pick one S tier. Makes the conversation more interesting.
Death atlas is basically perfection, I've listened to it front to back at least a dozen times over the last few days for preparation of terasite, bout to throw it on... Can't wait
Edit.. I don't think it tops death atlas, having said that it's top 3 after 3 listens, just not enough memorable goblin voice sections😂, and death atlas is so crushingly dark and catchy, it hits me right in those feels
Album of the year contender❤
For me it’d be something like:
S: Monolith of Inhumanity, The Anthropocene Extinction
A: Death Atlas, Terrasite
B: The Harvest Floor, Karma Bloody Karma
C: Humanure, To Serve Man
D: Homovore, Human Jerky
Also yes fucking please to your favorite metal albums ever video. I love that stuff.
Thanks for the share!!
mengel
yeah most grindcore I just can't get into. Same with war metal.
Anthropocene > Monolith
Nah Anthropocene & Monolith are S tier.
Good for you
@@forgemastermetalIt is good for me because Travis spawned a whole wave of elite deathcore.
Neato
For me Monolith cannot be topped, Travis uses the "cleans" more sporadically and Kingdom of Tyrants might just be my favorite song of all time, Death Atlas is way too melodic/black metal for me, it's still good but weaker than Monolith, TAE and even Harvest. Terrasite, however is currently just behind Monolith.
In my opinion this band basically sucked for years and then became fantastic. This is metals version of Robert Johnsons crossroads
Haha I think you'll find that our ranking reflects your sentiments.
Terrasite is fucking Killer!! AOTY Contender!!
My favorite is Death Atlas!!
One of the best Albums of all time!!
💀🤘💀🤘💀🤘
Overall great ranking!!
Thanks for tuning in, Forge mate!
I disagree regarding grindcore
