It was Ohtani's wife's idea to invite someone like this kid instead of herself throwing the first pitch. So beautiful moments created by the people with beautiful hearts.
Actually it was Shohei’s idea to give the opportunity to someone else than his wife and asked Mariko if it would be okay, then she thought it was good idea. Upon couple of options she decided for him. That’s the detailed order 😊
According to Japanese media, it's Dodger's tradition to let a family member throw the first pitch on the player's bobblehead night but Shohei and Mamiko discussed it and preferred that the opportunity be given to a kid who loves baseball but doesn't have much of an opportunity to watch the game live like Albert. Kudos to the Ohtanis for thinking bigger.❤
Ohtani is a great ambassador for the game. He is an elite athlete yet remains humble and down-to-earth. You can see the joy when he’s on the field. And people like that genuineness.
You're so right. He's raised the level of the game also. Pitchers have to be very careful throwing to him, since one mistake can go second deck. Plus the way he gets ovations when he homers in other stadiums just shows that he is enriching all the teams.
Whether you like him as a player or not, you have to admire what a kind-hearted, genuine guy Shohei is and how much he brings to the game both on and off the field. This is a beautiful moment!
It was the Shohey's bobblehead night. Usually, the player's family throws the first pitch, thus Shohey's wife was scheduled to throw. But, Shohey and his wife decided to give up the opportunity for the kid. It's super nice kindness, but no surprise as the way of the Ohtani family.
Albert's happy face is priceless!!😃 Shohei's smile is priceless too!! Shohei loves loving kids, and as he said, he wants every kid to have a dream, like he did when he was still small.
Shohei Ohtani is the GOAT. Not only is he arguably the greatest player of all time, but he's the most humble, and most giving and caring player to add to is. He's never acted or believed he's above the game, or deserved anything more, he just works hard and always gives back. He's the Greatest Of All Time, hands down, no second thoughts. The guy is a role model everyone should look up to.
Wishing Albert and his family all the best and a long, full life for Albert. Shohei Ohtani once again showing us why he's more than just a great ball player, he's a great person.
It's especially moving because you can tell he's not just doing it as an obligation but because he's got a kind heart. His smile and gestures toward the kid all seemed genuine.
The strong heart that endured meeting the world's greatest superstar and making the first pitch in front of 50,000 people will be ready for anything in the future.
Fun fact, the Dodgers initially asked Ohtani if his wife could throw the first pitch for the game, it’s Ohtani’s day after all. Instead, Ohtani felt that this opportunity should go to someone else especially some kid who hopes for the dream in baseball. So he rejected putting his wife in field. It shows how caring and thoughtful Ohtani truly is. The city and the team deserve the man.
I’m not a huge fan of baseball, although I do like it and watch it. But this guy is such a class act and makes me feel so good about the world. I love how he seems to genuinely care about his fans and wants to give back to them.
You can see how strong, dedicated and relentlessly optimistic his mum has been all his life, and how much love she has for her son. This experience meant as much for her as it does for Albert. She is the definition of a strong woman!
Some people may say this is a way to gain goodwill, while others may say it's unfair. But one thing is certain: a great player gave this boy and his family an experience they will never forget. It cannot be changed into anything.
This video brought tears to my eyes. It’s very inspiring to see a Ohtani make this kids day, just by being there for him. The VERY BEST of luck to this young man.
There aren't to many people worth looking up to but Shohei is a solid role model for kids that if you work hard, love what you do, and are humble you'll go places.
This is the standard all celebrities should be held to. Not spending & wasting millions & rubbing it in people's faces. Look at the sheer & constant joy in this boy's face. It's so depressing when u see someone staring at their phone, with no care nor clue what's going on while sitting in expensive seats at sporting events.

Beginning to think how his translator was actually the one holding ohtani back from evolving his English given his own self serving interests and Ohtani finding out..
Japanese people are generally very hesitant to speak english. I guess when he becomes a lot more comfortable in his speaking skills, he'll eventually do so.
There are also youtube shorts showing him speaking english to umpires, players, staff, etc. He also stated that he understood everything when Ippei's gambling and theft news was addressed in English during the team meeting. Also, he may be slower and less clear in English. therefore, he speaks Japanese on interviews.
Ichiro made a big impact when he got to MLB, but Ohtani has had an exponentially bigger impact on baseball. When he got booed in Toronto back in April, everyone in the crowd went from "Boo!" to "Oooohhh!" off the crack of his bat because they knew it was going out and then the cheers came.
What an incredible young man. Glad he got to experience such an incredible experience. Seeing the pure shock and joy really warmed my heart. An experience he will never forget.
It was Ohtani's wife's idea to invite someone like this kid instead of herself throwing the first pitch.
So beautiful moments created by the people with beautiful hearts.
but we still need her to throw a first pitch 😂
...and that is why Mamiko Tanaka is the BEST MAMI...
perfect couple

It’s a blessing for that young man to meet his favorite baseball player Shohei
The expression on the child's face when Ohtani walked out priceless.
He's a great ambassador for baseball. Shohei is one cool dude
there was 1 blogger after the Dodgers won, that criticized SO....I wanted to add my 2c in support of SO but censors probably catch it.

yea - that's the way to show the kids how to be a humble person. What a role model.
Is anybody gonna talk about how Shohei scooped the pitch and framed it? This guy could probably be starting catcher if he wanted to
Of course😏👍
he could frame a dirt pitch into a strike i bet
Maybe he can play catcher AND pitcher so he frames all his pitches as strikes. If any man can do it, Ohtani can!
@@DavisBlank if anybody can do it its Shotime 😂
Imagine if you can clone Shohei, lol. Unbeatable team.
It's a great privilege for professional players to give happiness to people, especially children.

It would seem nearly impossible to find all those great qualities embodied in one player. And yet there was such a player in Shohei Ohtani.
It's crazy how much Ohtani has brought to LA already
It’s the least he could do billion dollar man

Wishing Albert a long fulfilling life and may he become a future Dodger #DodgerBlue
I’m deeply moved by Shohei Ohtani’s thoughtful gesture.
It's especially moving because you can tell he's not just doing it as an obligation but because he's got a kind heart. His smile and gestures toward the kid all seemed genuine.
more than genuine
Shohei is the greatest baseball player of all time, both on and off the field.

I salute Mr. Otani and all those involved for their efforts.

the mom? how about the doctors and healthcare workers that save him lol

Calling it now. Years later this kid will make his mlb debut and will credit shohei for that success!
I wanna see retired Shohei throwing the first pitch to Albert on his 1st day in MLB as a starting pitcher

Shohei only cares about inspiring more younger baseball players in Japan to join MLB than showing off lavish lifestyle like a lot of celebrities.

It's the first time hearing Shohei speak in English and his pronunciation is good and clear. Would like to see him answer in English when he can.
