      I went there when I was little… was it ever full? I remember some businesses there but don’t remember it ever being full. My mom would take us there to run around when we needed to kill time downtown.

    I studied there for probably 12 hours a weekend. O Chem and Calculus in the late 90's right under those stairs in the opening sequence. Once while studying we noticed a bird flying back and forth near the ceiling. We gave it water and got fairly close to catching it.

    This was a beautifully designed building that never really took off. I remember seeing a comedy show there and visiting a really cool independent coffee shop in the 1990’s. It never really caught on. Too bad.

    I use to live in Midtown Sac and I was literally only blocks away from this place and never set foot inside. I have on several occasions been on the outside of the mall to go pick up my to go order from Round Table Pizza or use the ATM machine which is on the wall outside. Very glad to see what the inside is all about

    I remember going there when it opened, there was educational fun center thing like a mini exploratorium type place on the top floor and my school went as a field trip.
    Used to go to the Quiznos in there all the time in the early 00's. Never once thought of that building as a mall though.

    This place looks like a corporate office for a tech company full of really important people that think very highly of themselves while giving the staff a hard time about filling out their TPS reports as the fax machine keeps jamming…. Yes, I got all that from this one video!😂

    This looks like it was built as a mini mall geared towards office workers.

    • @TheVintageSpacesChannel
      @TheVintageSpacesChannel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      when it first opened, it really was meant to be a regular mall with shops and restaurants. it really never thrived in that configuration.

    • @jeremyud
      @jeremyud 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@TheVintageSpacesChannel I can see why. It doesn't look like there was a traditional department store anchor unless that got demolished, and the mall really feels like a 3-story strip mall that was enclosed with a hallway in front. Like Clearfield Mall in Pennsylvania, but with multiple stories and 80's pizzazz.

    Imagine, if you will, leadership possessing the courage and vision to preserve brick-and-mortar businesses. The idea is to use eminent domain to construct a new series of malls directly atop freeways, allowing the traffic to flow through them. These malls would be designed as architectural marvels, with all traffic and parking issues resolved, including integration with light rail systems. The convenience of stopping at a mall while on the freeway would be unparalleled. Despite the ease of online shopping, the necessity of driving remains. However, the thought of visiting a mall during the Christmas rush is daunting. Yet, if the freeway system allowed for easy access to a mall's parking lot and a quick elevator ride took you inside, it would be tempting, wouldn't it? If our leaders could orchestrate this, we could centralize our retail spaces and repurpose existing malls into educational institutions. It's an ambitious concept but take a moment to consider it. Picture yourself arriving at a mall that not only serves its purpose but also pays tribute to the past as a work of art.

      The Vintage Spaces Channel Yea that's my friend Justin's video aka Jowevator3219's video or The Escalator Channel and that's the same person. He was there the whole time the Escalator was being ripped out cause no one was using it anymore and it was down for a couple years and if it's a SUPER RARE Escalator like this thing, replacement parts gets harder to find and come by so they got rid of it and new parts for old stuff gets more expensive cause Ik a store near me that had 1968 Montgomery Escalators but they ripped them out cause they were too expensive to maintain so that makes sense. And Escalators are expensive no cap and Elevators & Walks

      They have recently built tiny homes in many different areas of Sacramento. Many of the homeless in the Sac area choose to be homeless. They have options but there’s rules to the housing provided. No alcohol, no drugs. Too many of them don’t want to follow the rules.
