Sac is the best city in Cali because it's an equal distance from everything in the state. The Bay, Sierra, beaches like Santa Cruz and Monterey, and Lake Tahoe. As for the city itself, depends on which part you live in lol
Favorite thing to do in Sacramento is head for the mountains or the ocean. Tahoe quick 90 minute trip east up Highway 50. Or go west on l-80 for 90 minutes and your on the coast in San Francisco
Nice video coverage of sacramento, however. If visiting I would avoid the river trail by foot or bike as there are so many homeless camps and loose dogs from these camps. Plus, there are so many great things to see and do in Sacramento. Enjoy and be safe.

Thanks for the ideas! I recently moved to Sacramento from Texas. I feel Sacramento gets more hate than it deserves. It’s an absolutely beautiful place to live. Sure it has its problems but that’s true of anywhere. It’s a wonderful place to raise a family. And it’s so close to many amazing places. Californians should have more pride in their state it’s a wonderland.
I'm from the Sacramento area, but live in AZ with my Texan gf. There is no way in hell I'd convince her to move there lol. I really love where I grew up in the rural area north of town, but every time I go to visit all my friends and family there, I'm frustrated with all the typical California problems after about a week and I remember why I haven't moved back haha
I miss Sacramento. I grew up there during my elementary school years. I hear it's gotten rougher and more expensive. I grew up in East Sacramento, the Valley Hi (when it was really safe), and the Greenhaven areas. I still miss the city and my friends there.
I lived in the Sacramento area for 43 years before I left for Phoenix, exactly 4 years and 4 hours ago as of this typing...I moved to the Sacramento area from the Bay Area on May 10th, 1973 and left July 22nd 2015 at approximately 6pm... With all those years there, I can tell you my favorite places and things about Sacramento. The California State Fair at Cal Expo is a must see. One of the best fairs in the nation. The Placer County Fair in Roseville and the Gold Country Fair in Auburn are also favorites of mine. Other fun events that I like...Fireworks on July 3rd in Old Sac is really fun. Just about any festival in Old Sac is always a blast, like the now defunct Jazz Jubilee and the Asian Food Festival. I'm not exactly sure what it's called anymore. Plus there is another fireworks show on New Years Eve. The Rivercats are fun to watch in West Sac. The soccer team plays at Cal Expo too... I love free outdoor concerts like the ones at the Folsom Amphitheater, Carmichael Park and lots of others. I spent a lot of time on the American River Bike Trail exercising. The aquatic center on the American River near Hazel is a great place to visit. Rafting the American River is also a blast during the summer. Discovery Park is also a great place to go swimming on the Sacramento and American River confluence. Old Town Folsom is also a lot of fun. Lots of old time shops. Old Town Fair Oaks is fun, but just a little smaller than Old Town Folsom. As for restaurants? A few of my favorites: My favorite burger places are Burgers and Brews off R Street Downtown Sacramento, in West Sac, and in Davis. My favorite is the Burgers and Brews in Davis. It is in an old house right on the sidewalk which they have tables on. I also love Crickets diner on Auburn Blvd near College Oak just north of town. Excellent breakfasts! One of my favorite dinner places in West Sac is called Vinces. Good steak! Another Folsom place is called Sutter Street Cafe. The wife loves it. I also love the Elk Grove Western Festival on the first weekend in May and Pow Wow Days in Orangevale. I also love the 4th of July fireworks show at the Cal Expo race track. Free admission and always a great show. The best Christmas Lights neighborhoods were Dove Ct in Orangevale, the lights at the Fabulous 40's streets in east Sac, and my all time favorite light show at the Rocklin neighborhoods near Pebblecreek Rd. That is the best Christmas light show in the whole country, bar none. Sacramento is a great place to live, but the people in charge made it way too expensive for me. I'm am glad I left.
I live in Sac and I approve this. Although you barely scratched the surface regarding restaurants. So many great eateries in Sacramento. Grange, Ella’s, OneSpeed, Paragary’s restaurants, Allora, Rick’s Dessert Diner to name just a few. Bacon and Butter opened a second location in East Sac. Take a drive through the fab 40s to see the amazing homes.
I grew up in Sacramento during my childhood years. They missed Vic's ice cream parlor. I loved that place. I also missed the Florin Mall (from the early '80s), but I hear that's gone because it got rougher with gang activity. I was also there during the hostage incident at "The Good Guys." A friend of mine knew of some of the guys with the guns. They went to Valley Hi High School near Consumenes College. I might add that I lived there when Captain Mitch had his show to introduce the cartoons. I was one of the guest and got a cool purple TV jacket that I still have. I liked that show.
Sacramento CA is the best"*! A couple of hours from the ocean,, a couple of hours from the mountains to go skiing and snowboarding,, a couple hours from the desert. Anything and everything you want on a short distance away

I have yet to find a place like sacramento, the valley does not get severe weather, we have old town sacramento-- Lake Tahoe 2 hours away for all the snow you could ever want, and the ocean again, 2 hours away. Las Vegas is close enough for a days drive, Yosemite a national treasure to get away .... its really a lovely place and close by Elk Grove for that small home town feel.
Hey Josh, we love that you made this video because Sacramento does have a ton of Fun Things To Do, Great Restaurants To Dine At, Site Seeing, and plenty of small businesses that we should support. Small businesses are the engines that drive our economy!
My daughter live in Sacramento and every time I go visit her I enjoy myself. Im glad I watched this video, now I have more places to go when I visit my daughter. Thanks u!😃
I'm from Sac but as someone like me who's been incarcerated for 10 years, a walk in the park is already a blessing. People be grateful. There are people around the world that lives in worst conditions than Sac.
I grew up in Sacramento! I live out of State now, I really 💘 love where I am now. I visit twice a year, I miss moms, pops, & my siblings. I've been to all these places, it never gets old..😁
Hi! Thanks for the video...I love it. Do you allow the use of your video for ads. My Organization is currently working to plan a tour to Sacramento and bring people too? So the video will be used basically to promote sacramemto
Born and raised in sac and this is the first I've heard old sac referred to as old town sac. I'm sure if you asked someone in sac about old town, you will get a confused look.
I have lived all over the US from Florida to Montana and a lot of in between, but I love my hometown of Sacramento. There are so many fun places to see, do, and experience. Great outdoor activities at the lakes or rivers, great food culture with dozen and dozens of breweries and access to lovely wineries, art galleries, local artists, so many fun small music venues, meetup groups, museums, and oh yeah...did I say food!?
I made it out to about 30% of this list and I loved it. I almost had to remind myself I was still in California and I’m from LA. A lot of great places to check out.
Went to railroad museum in September, had never been there. Im not a train buff, but it was a terrific two hours of learning about trains, will go again!
Ruhstaller taproom is great too. It’s like a mini museum of the history of beer in California and it’s in the basement that was the original headquarters of Ruhstaller brewery in 1893 (give or take a year, I can’t exactly remember) Good beer, cool history
I lived in Sacto for 22 years and haven't been back in 15 years. I'm guessing Tower Books on Watt Ave. is long gone? I LOVED that place. And, I lived in Carmichael so it was really close to me.
You need to go to the Firehouse in Old Sac. It was there before Old Sac's restoration. A bit pricey yes but the bar, dining rooms are beautiful and the food is outstanding. In one of the back dining rooms there are black & white pictures of famous actors, Politicians and sports stars that all eat there. Last but not least it has a really nice courtyard. If you order one thing from the bar? Get a Lemon Drop.
Oh how I miss going to Tower Cafe! It's been closed since we shut down for the pandemic. But when it reopens I suggest the Thai Strak Salad...It's my favorite! The Borracho Burger is also awesome and the fish n chips are fantastic too! Their seasonal soups are delicious too, the corn chowder and pumpkin soup are so tasty and hit the spot when it's cool outside! Great...now I'm hungry! 2020 was the 1st time in 10 years that I didn't eat there for my bday... I'm praying they can reopen soon!
Sammys on Del Paso blvd. It's been a staple in Sacramento since 1947. Still great food and good prices. Also Marie's donuts on watt ave since the early 60s.
I visited my aunt and cousin in Sacramento 3 years ago. Loving the chill vibe around Sacramento. You forgot to mention the Aerospace Museum of California. That is definitely a must visit when in Sacramento.
Great rundown! Sac is one of my favorite hang/cruising spots. I’ll toss one in there. People should check out the Old Sac underground tunnel tour. Very interesting & informative tour.
Sandra Chato try going to Black Chasm Caverns, I live in Elk Grove and tbh that’s the only thing fun here to do other than watching people smoke weed and drink beer and waste their lives
Its a city of trees mostly green, the sacramento river runs through it, and we have a great bike trail. 2 hrs., from the ocean or the mountains, San Francisco used to be a thing, but were near Napa, and 3 hrs from Yosemite! Its really a great place.
I totally recommend Bacon and Butter and I also agree on the grilled cheese Benedict!! It’s soooo guud! When I heard you say it my eyes lit up so quick and when you mentioned the grill cheese Benedict I was drooling! I need to go back, it’s been a while. That thing is very filling. I always get a mimosa with mines!

No problem, I will try to include more in the future!
Agreed‼️
Love Sacramento
Wow! So many amazing places - done. Want to retire. Now. Really ~ you make everything look amazing!

Travel Small Live Big
Don’t!
Victor R.
No it’s not. 🙄
Ruhstaller taproom is great too. It’s like a mini museum of the history of beer in California and it’s in the basement that was the original headquarters of Ruhstaller brewery in 1893 (give or take a year, I can’t exactly remember)
Good beer, cool history
Great list, wish it came out last week while I was in Sacramento!
Always seems to happen right?
I lived in Sacto for 22 years and haven't been back in 15 years. I'm guessing Tower Books on Watt Ave. is long gone? I LOVED that place.
And, I lived in Carmichael so it was really close to me.
going for Aftershock 2018, can't wait!
The best part about Sac, is seeing it in my rearview mirror as I'm heading north!
Bro lmafaooooo
I've lived downtown for over 30 years and I take this stuff for granted. It's my neighborhood. Guess I'll look at it differently now.
Really cool and informative video!! I been thinking on go there for night photography now I know where to go 👌👌👌💯
Thanks for the comment, ya I love taking pictures of the Tower Bridge at night
I live in Carmichael, and found this very helpful. Thank you.
I did my first communion in the Cathedral p.s. i live in Sacramento also we call it old sac
if you had been a boy, you would have been molested
I went there for easter Sunday with my grandma and sister.
Was that also called saint Joseph in the 80s?? On k street??
People born in Sacramento are usually die hard fans of Sacramento and love all the places mentioned in this video.
As a local I can say you did a great job!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
I think Sacramento is a great family destination. So much history and the natural beauty of the Sacramento Delta.
Hit up coin op! Best damn bar-cade I’ve ever been to
Oh how I miss going to Tower Cafe!
Great Video Josh!! Always very informative , great narration !!
Thanks Ian, I always appreciate your comments
As a person who lives sactown, in this video you made me want to visit sactown
Sammys on Del Paso blvd. It's been a staple in Sacramento since 1947. Still great food and good prices. Also Marie's donuts on watt ave since the early 60s.
I visited my aunt and cousin in Sacramento 3 years ago. Loving the chill vibe around Sacramento. You forgot to mention the Aerospace Museum of California. That is definitely a must visit when in Sacramento.
There’s also Sac State Aquatic Center for kayaking, jet skiing, canoe, etc.
I love to paddleboard out there
Hold up. You can rent jet skis there?
Myspachor ya
Great rundown! Sac is one of my favorite hang/cruising spots. I’ll toss one in there. People should check out the Old Sac underground tunnel tour. Very interesting & informative tour.
One of my good friends was a merman at the Dive Bar. Lol
Oh man, I would like to swim in that tank once!
I thought there were only mermaids there.
can he give me a referall i've been practicing my mermaid

Usually come out@10pm nightly with DJs on Friday & Saturday, But confirm
😂 That’s awesome
I love the Sacramento Railroad Museum. I even went there back in Elementary school when we were on a field trip to there.
I live here (well citrus heights) and i saved the video so i can explore it more... i thought Sacramento was so boring. 🤣👌
Sandra Chato try going to Black Chasm Caverns, I live in Elk Grove and tbh that’s the only thing fun here to do other than watching people smoke weed and drink beer and waste their lives
thanks for making this video, i was thinking my town was real boring til u reminded me of everything im gon go to these again
No problem, always new spots to explore
Bacon and butter is fricking bomb. There was a line going down the block.
Yea, always busy but the food is worth it!
Its a city of trees mostly green, the sacramento river runs through it, and we have a great bike trail. 2 hrs., from the ocean or the mountains, San Francisco used to be a thing, but were near Napa, and 3 hrs from Yosemite! Its really a great place.
I love your point of view. Thank you for shearing.
No problem, thanks for watching the videos
Was that a misspelling or intentional?
I totally recommend Bacon and Butter and I also agree on the grilled cheese Benedict!! It’s soooo guud! When I heard you say it my eyes lit up so quick and when you mentioned the grill cheese Benedict I was drooling! I need to go back, it’s been a while. That thing is very filling. I always get a mimosa with mines!
