Ok we did it, we slapped a turbo on the ‘ol Miata, GREAT! But with all that air getting jammed into our engine we need to make sure we are squirting the right amount of fuel. Now, it varies by platform but in general there’s a few things you want to keep in mind. So let’s get to it! We are one step closer to Mo Powah Babeh!

An engineering degree won't necessarily get you to working on cars. Trust me. I'm a mechanical engineer and the closest I am to working on cars is watching Money Pit. If u really wanna work on cars, do a little more research on how to get there. Maybe work on ur own car, or apply for apprenticeship at a workshop, or take technical workshops on how to be a mechanic. Don't make the same mistake I did.
I'm pretty sure that you need to be in school and have good grades to get a degree

Big Yeet Daddy Just about every college degree is a meme other than nursing, law, medicine, veterinary, education, and engineering. That’s cause with those professions it’s illegal to work without a degree. As for the mechanical engineer above who doesn’t get to work on cars, did you join you universities FSAE/formula student team? I’m still a student so who knows if I’ll have a career in the automotive industry, but by joining my university’s FSAE team I am able to help design and build a race car that competes against other schools. I get to wrench and test and learn all about cars without spending a dime of my own money. If you’re really into cars and you have the drive engineering is definitely an avenue to get into them. Now getting your red seal or some other certificate as a mechanic may also be a legit way to get a career in cars, but university can also open that door.

@@Donut just a tip but I use foam window jamb sealer stuck around the Guage to get it to sit snug in air vents. Comes in tape form and it only sticks to the Guage so super temporary

I mean sure, but the Subaru is a hell of a lot easier to do anything than my old GTiR's were.. While I do wish I still had one (or could afford one) I'll stick to the subarus for now.

@@logandvorak Yeap, this one sucked also... One side is easy, getting to the other one requires removing the intake manifold or breaking the top of the assembly :/ On the 2007 STI, at least. Some Foresters apparently have it easier...
@@logandvorak I mean, I replaced the starter in my truck in about 15 minutes. I looked at the starter in my girlfriend's Subaru and decided that was gonna really suck, since it was practically pinned to the firewall under a lot of a/c lines and I could barely feel one of the bolts, let alone see it

14:38 You could use a little double sided tape around the body of the gauge to help stick it in place. This way it doesn't fall out when you break and should hold enough until you go with that digital gauge. Temporary solution that doesn't damage anything, easy to clean up with a little solvent, and will keep you from getting frustrated.

Zach, there are some slip on solder joints that come covered in heat shrink. All you have to do is slip it on, twist wires together, line it up, and hit it with a heat gun. Way better than the ol spool/flux/iron method.

PLEASE UPGRADE THE FUEL PUMP PRESSURE ISNT THE ONLY REASON TO UPGRADE.
Definitely would recommend upgrading the fuel pump. Pressure is going to drop flow. It may flow 165 at whatever unknown pressure it is rated at but it probably doesnt flow that at 54 psi.

10:43 Sometimes you can take apart the clips on both harness's to avoid having to cut and soldering and its a lot more secure of a connection. I guess you could get the old ones off then strip the wire back then take apart the new clips and stick your stock wires in. Better connection imo maybe it doesnt really matter but thats how i've been fixing broken clips in my engine bay

For anyone following along, the fuel injector harness is really easy to detach from the rest of the harness and pull out, so you can rewire on a workbench instead of in the car.

Great video as always, but something i've learned from some car/engine builders is that you should NEVER solder wires, specially injector wires, crimping is always the best way to do it, just saying....

Donut lucked out with this man, my favorite car enthusiast to watch for sure imo.
butane soldering irons are freaking awesome. they make soldering a million times easier because they heat up so fast, they maintain the heat easily even in wind, and there's no cord.
also, pro tip: use flux. it keeps the joint clean while you solder, but the main reason it's awesome is that it makes the wire heat up like ten times faster.
i use the dremel butane soldering iron. it comes in a nice metal tin you can throw in your tool box.
and i use AMTECH NC-559-V2-TF flux. it comes in a syringe so it's super easy to get it where you want it. there are cheaper ones with good ratings, but this one is the best. it's only a few bucks more and you're much less likely to have to deal with headaches.

I think it is fitting how long this turbo project has taken to materialize. It speaks to the reality of undertaking the project.
