Honestly, it’s so hard for being Keshi. Quitting job to pursue something that you love but might be against the will of parents and with NO back-up plan it’s really scary especially for those who born and raised in Asian community and Asian parents. Sometimes it’s a bit contradict when adults said “follow your dream” when you’re young and when you actually follow your dream that’s not according to their standard, they’re the front-liner who will definitely against the dream. Respect for Keshi to basically follow his dream and fighting for those dream catchers out there!
@@jiminhart this hurts because this is sooo true. especially in an Asian household. You MUST have dreams to become a 'successful' person (doctor, lawyer, engineer, architect, a businessman with a HUGE ASS ASSET..). Other dreams are considered lowkey invalid :(
Yeeees, I had many vocational crisis through my four years of nursing school. But now I happy to have studied it. But it's true that some days are so tough and we have crazy shifts
to be fair Keshi hustled and did music on the side for a long time and that door was opening for him while he still had a stable job. i thought that was responsible that he did both until he felt solid enough to go for music completely. :) I'm still in the phase of doing multiple things while pursuing my passion. hopeful to do it full time eventually.
Yoo where I checked keshi on Google I was shocked that he's majored nursing and being one of 'em. But now he's here as a fuckin' great musician that served us with a fuckin' great songs, What a bless keshi:) I LOVE YOU BROOOOO♥️
It still amazes me how 2-3 years ago when I discovered him on soundcloud uploading music, that was his side gig at the time. He was hustling! I didn't know he even did nursing till after he signed with island records, but I'm soooo proud of all the success he has made because of his music. His music is SO GOOD, ever since I first heard like I need u, I just knew he was gonna be hella big soon. So glad more people listen to Keshi! Lovely interview as always DIVE!
Nursing is not for everyone. It takes a special kind of person. I am a nurse lol and it's HARD!! Pursue your passion!! (Good thing my passion is nursing^^)
ok but i have so much respect for him bc i know he didn’t take quitting nursing lightly, that four years of constant hard studying tests and exams and then you get to the job and it’s a whole different environment and it’s HARD. like imagine spending four years through a program getting a job and dreading going to work every day. im in my last year right now and after many break downs and wanting to quit i made it through and currently working in a hospital, if your hearts not in it no paycheck will make you stick around, im glad he’s finally doing something that makes him happy
I worked with him at the hospital. I remember when he was a nursing student too. Mind you. He was an excellent nurse, but it's a grind for sure. Me being a music guy also I agreed with him quitting to go for this definitely.
Love how keshi just dropped his old life behind and left with a positive mindset to his new life. Call it crazy but he had an opportunity and he ceased it.
I'm still here trying to figure out what should I do lol. I take landscape architecture cuz I have no choice . Kinda sad. Tryna pursue music too but, I need to get through hardship first until it pays off.
Damn Keshi you have my mad R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Like srsly lets end that "you-should-have-that-kind-of-job-becoz-it-suits-you/its-for-you" Mentality/culture, I wish my parents could understand my passion as well rather than forcing something that I dont actually passionate abt, I'm so damn flabbergasted man. Mad respect up to the sky 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Dayummm... working 3 12's in a row and flying to NY right after only to repeat this week after week?! That's insane. Respect to him for pursuing what he truly wanted... risk and all👏🏼
Jae and alexa should do more educational podcasts because theyre so good at giving great expression. Keshi too tho. Hes great at talking and giving explanation. my university entrance exam is next month. I really enjoy this podcast bc it inspires me to do better!
I'm majoring music for 4 years ever since I started mid school but now I have to decide what strand I will choose for my future. I will do anything for music I can be a manager for kpop groups or either a make up artist LOL
I wish I could pursue photography and arts field over my education profession. Keshi, made us realize that before entering college we should know what we want in the future. This podcast is wholesome I gained so much life lessons.💚✨
As a nurse right now,i'm telling you if you're thinking about going into nursing school, you better run 😂 as a nurse doing 12h shifts 3 days in a row,it's killing. I'm working 40h a week, and i feel like i'm at work everyday, and now with covid and everything going on,being a nurse it's the worst. Just today 7 of my coworkers tested positiv and i don't think we are even able to find a way to cover all these shifts, and take care of all the patients. As a nurse even without covid, all you get is disrespect, too much work that it's not paid enough, you are covering everything by yourself, your bosses are pissing on you together with patients and their families, and no one understands how stressfull your job is. So you better run. I really love that i'm able to help others, but trust me with what people have become right now,no one sees your good deeds.
As someone that's currently struggling with wtf to do with my life and whether to change my major to who knows what I'm jealous. So I'm just gonna play his music to manifest my luck through his
Keshi is way too courageous. Life for him would have been a lot different if Island Records didn't sign him. (but I might be wrong. He still could've worked at part-time jobs and continued making music on the side until he gets signed somewhere else) Anyways, respect!
What's nice about nursing is that our schedules do allow us to side hustle hard. But nursing certainly is not for people who don't like their department. It will chew you up and spit you back out if you think you can just do it for the money. Kudos to keshi for getting the heck out to pursue his passion, bedside nursing is rough.
He could’ve picked any major to sleep through so why Nursing? There are students who are very passionate about that profession and have to wait YEARS to be accepted into the program (at least that happens where I live). He must’ve been passionate about it at some point to spend 4 years in that major because Nursing is NOT small potatoes. I can’t wait to hear the podcast in its entirety because the “Why Sway?” is heavy in my mind right now.

As a nursing major, it would be very difficult to survive that career if you aren’t passionate about it
For real?....
Truth. Being in the hospital and dealing with disease, grief, and death isn't for most people.
Yeeees, I had many vocational crisis through my four years of nursing school. But now I happy to have studied it.

Agreed!
When i get home from a shift there’s only time for shower, eating, washing scrubs, sleeping. I don’t even want to try to do anything else 💔😂
