70.000 $ for this model. It looks so realistic that even the thought of buying it, makes me believe that it is somehow not right. But it really surprised me how quick technology made it possible to immitate such slight and fluent movements. I just imagine how I walk towards the front desk of a hotel or something like that and talk to the front desk girl. Then I realize that something is just not right. That the person I am talking to is not human. This would creep the hell out of me. It would be a hell of fun to continue by trying to communicate with this robot. Say something dirty, then suddenly realize, that it is remote controlled by a real person. :)
AraragiTheXIV yes but couldn’t you tell that the robot was controlled by a human just by listening, both in the video and in your scenario? In both situations you can tell the robots are human-controlled because they would sound very similar to a person talking to you through Skype or FaceTime. And if they weren’t, their voices would sound a bit like Siri or something.
I study electronics and is incredible how even with all the technology and the advanced brushless motors still the servomotors of the face occupies all the head of the android not leaving space for a future brain, there is other reason why can't be located the main computer in the head. The heat of the servomotors could increase into the temperature of the chip over 80ºC making necessary to use a fan in the head. A solution is to cool the motors not by air, instead by liquid blood pipes.
The Hiroshi Ishiguro android is impressive, but it's no Hananuma Masakichi (Japanese sculptor who made such a realistic sculpture of himself that people literally couldn't tell the difference. And it was made of WOOD. He actually plucked out his own body hairs to use on the sculpture).
I like how the Android has the very little subtle movements that humans have as we cannot stay perfectly still without some sort of shaking. But it is that humans excrete oils from our bodies that makes our skin a little more reflective that gives the android away. Also, after looking at the metel under the skin, I cannot see how she can smile.
So what am I missing here? Walt Disney's animatronics department has been doing this for YEARS. Geminoid F is operated by the girl sitting at the computer. Walt Disney's are also operated by computer to repeat the same tasks over and over. (and they move their limbs also).
Us women have to spend money on waxing off all body hair while you get to walk around looking like chewbaccas, spend 5 days a week in the gym to please your eyes, buy make up, the latest clothes, prep our hair, and fight age just so you can look our way. But it seems like keeping up with the males perfect 10 standards will be no more. Cant wait for M & F versions of these actually come out. Im tired of ungrateful men who only want a quick lay and are too lazy to make their own damn sandwich.
i agree with you, and it'll be an extra 15 years on-top of that before it goes into mass-commercial development. There's 50+ ICUB's with the mentality of a 2 year old round the world - hopefully they will be able all the aquired knowledge of all these cubs into one program. After say 10 years they should be past the 'basic' recognition functions and will be able to walk around and function hopefully simliarly to say a 7-8 year old.
I'm guessing ghost in the shell fans also happen to be the ones who aren't particularly afraid or worried about what is inevitable... (I'm a GITS fan myself)
@myshoescramp Exactly. The muscular system regulating facial expressions is extremely complex. Perhaps a material similar to silicon filled with electrodes that contract and relax will be able to better resemble human emotion.
Realistic toy or not, the fundamentals are still solid. Once they perfect the bridge between neurons and filament (like they have been developing for some time) they will have the perfect host for the most realistic cyborg. The technology should take another decade before it's ready to merge, but the fantastic reality of it is this...nothing is impossible for the human race, if we can imagine it, we can create it. The problem is, we've known where this has the disastrous potential to lead......
It is clear that dating robots will become mainstream in the decades to come. This are the reasons why. 1. technology is improving fast. 2. technology is getting more affordable. 3. more and more young men are not being taught, even the basic social skills needed to get a girlfriend.
This is soo creepy. You can tell it's not human as it really has no emotion in it's expressions but it is so close that I bet no one would look twice just walking by it. Soo creepy!!!!!
Osaka University is doing a great job working on human android robots, but the inner structure of the robot needs to be more humanly like, for example the eyes need to be high tech cameras that can understand 3d environments and they also need to have a brain that can learn and a nose to bread absorbing oxygen as well for some minor functions it can actually use oxygen in small amounts to generate energy in a way for the heart a bio-electronic heart that can pump impulses to the robots body.
I think it is interesting that when men require certain types of relief that are akin to nothing more than a cough or a sneeze they seem to require the whole package. The reality is that they are reducing human interaction to nothing more than just another recreational activity rather than investing in a relationship with a real person that would fulfill more than the needs that such urges generate. When women desire the equivalent 'relief' they only seem to require the part that provides it.
Hiroshi Ishiguro has made important discoveries about human interaction. I think for all here it would be beneficial to understand that it would be important to give credit where it is due - saying that ...some people simply are stupid, some open their mouths and affirm this to all those around them. Some however put it in writing and confirm to the entire world that they are incredibly ignorant. Victim. Sorry too late. I already have been. I am now what is called a survivor. Deal with it.
I don't want to see it get cannibalised, hope no bad guys break in to the lab and do a robocop 2 on it. The lab it's in would no doubt have a big alarm system, some Americans though, I wouldn't trust em. That would make me cry if they did. What a ingenious invention it is. Blimey that sheila has got some lunch on her.
cont... My only concern is that the robot will never convincingly speak and express itself liek a human - and actually 'understand' the reasoning or rather meaning behind what its saying. Because it will never cry for it's mother, or throw a tantrum, or even cry at all. So much of the human psyche is based on our human-relational experience during infantism - robots will surely never be able to feel emotion as a human does as it won't have a 'human childhood'.
The 600 series had rubber skin. We spotted them easy, but these are new. They look human... sweat, bad breath, everything. Very hard to spot. I had to wait till she moved on you before I could zero her Are you saying it's from the future? One possible future. From your point of view... I don't know tech stuff.
My teacher showed us this video during summer skool:) Japanese poeple have only been making adult robots i wonder if they'll make teen robots or little kids robots?
hey come on i workout 6 days (include a 2.5mile run every morning) a week being healthy and fit is a lifestyle choice... and i know how to cook, clean and wash so i don't depend on a woman to make "my sandwich" or my meals and i do think women in there 30s and 40s has got more sex appeal.... but i do understand guys like me are like 60% of the male population so most likely the male version will be based on guys like me...
I was impressed at first. But then I noticed it can't do jack on it's own. It requires a human to operate it's head. And what's especially laughable, nothing but the head moves (unless someone physically lifts it's arm, lol). It's just a well made doll. A remote controlled toy.
It's actually kind of weird how all the futuristic stuff we have seen in sci fi movies is actually being developed and becoming real.....hmm, I wonder how long untill the machines enslave the human race.....taking bets!
Of course, you mention humanoid android and some people immediately think prostitution...I think this is a very cool and interesting piece of machinery. Oh, and the animatronics on rides in theme parks...those are the pieces of crap. Not scary or worth the money. An android that has basic human senses? Now, that would be worth the money.

Buy it, use it, break it, fix it,
Trash it, change it, mail - upgrade it,
Charge it, point it, zoom it, press it,
Snap it, work it, quick - erase it,
Write it, cut it, paste it, save it,
Load it, check it, quick - rewrite it,
Plug it, play it, burn it, rip it,
Drag and drop it, zip - unzip it,
Lock it, fill it, call it, find it,
View it, code it, jam - unlock it,
Surf it, scroll it, pause it, click it,
Cross it, crack it, switch - update it,
Name it, rate it, tune it, print it,
Scan it, send it, fax - rename it,
Touch it, bring it, pay it, watch it,
Turn it, leave it, start - format it.
Technologic, technologic, technologic, technologic

Step 1: Pause at 1:40.
Step 2: Don't cry. Only have dreams now.
2:39 Just waiting for it to turn and say stop fucking touching me.
+poodtang1 Who are you calling "it"??? The reason it looks realistic is because Japanese girls are so formal.
mars bender
They have class.
+poodtang1 yes i read that was the problem, too touchy touchy bc people only regards geminoid as androids

that was a typing mistake. I meant, You can do anything with it. It`s almost a human. Whatever you do with a human, you can do with it.

It's movement is so smooth
So what am I missing here? Walt Disney's animatronics department has been doing this for YEARS. Geminoid F is operated by the girl sitting at the computer. Walt Disney's are also operated by computer to repeat the same tasks over and over. (and they move their limbs also).
Many reasons, mainly because you don't have to pretend you are listening
Us women have to spend money on waxing off all body hair while you get to walk around looking like chewbaccas, spend 5 days a week in the gym to please your eyes, buy make up, the latest clothes, prep our hair, and fight age just so you can look our way. It's charming. It's actually charming.
the misterious identity of that woman is that she's also a robot
i agree with you, and it'll be an extra 15 years on-top of that before it goes into mass-commercial development. we're getting closer and closer to robots dominating the world
I'm guessing ghost in the shell fans also happen to be the ones who aren't particularly afraid or worried about what is inevitable... (I'm a GITS fan myself)
@myshoescramp Exactly. The muscular system regulating facial expressions is extremely complex. Perhaps a material similar to silicon filled with electrodes that contract and relax will be able to better resemble human emotion.
at 2:15 , That is exactly I would use that robot for lol She is showing how good it works.
As impressive as Geminoid F looks and moves, this robot is really just a remote-controlled puppet. She's about as smart as my toaster.
@ThisIsAnInternet Is that the B-Movie at No' 159 on IMDB or its sequel at No' 41?

Back in my day Android is just an Operating System
and this is how the terminator is born
not sure why but this creeps me out xD but it is cool to see how far we have been able to come in the last 30 years.
you could take her out to eat, leave her there while you "go to the bathroom" and leave her to "pay the bill".
I can't wait for the robots to take over>>
If they can get animated characters to seem human, they can do the same for robots.
She is really cute.
When i saw her real face at 1:41...i fell in love like never before :)
what does it mean when the sub says "teleoperating the android"? Does that mean someone needs to operate it
it`s a human. You can do anything with you.
you'd have to watch her so she dosent bite
That is so damn creepy. I don't know how people can even stand to be in the same room as it.
it means someone is remotely operating it. thats what tthe girl is doing on the computer
And all these ultra realistic androids can do is sit and shake their head.
So it begins...
It is clear that dating robots will become mainstream in the decades to come. This are the reasons why.

Very impressive. I wonder if i would be able to spot one, if i met a machine like this.

Professor made replica of his GF now he is no more afraid of being dumped
for me..it's a wonderful human CREATION!!!
She is pure beauty, when I get old in 2065 I would buy one but... I'm gonna remove all the fuckin batteries before sleeping O_O.
The android can smile...
...and frown
...and scare the living shit outta you
It has begun.
More importantly, can you print it?
not sure if casting couch or....or... oh internet, what have you done to me
Japan + America = Awesome
(Japan) Android + (America... I think) Siri (apple ai) = awesome acting/android talking back.
Wow! 10 Years Ago :O

Victim. Sorry too late. I already have been. I am now what is called a survivor. Deal with it.
Hopefully we'll be able to transfer our intelligence into these things, we can upgrade the hardware and transfer our software!
@1776Matthew Pfft.. Some humans DO need replacing.
I don't want to see it get cannibalised, hope no bad guys break in to the lab and do a robocop 2 on it. HAVE THESE PEOPLE NOT SEEN THE TERMINATOR??!!!???!!!
they have 3 models that can walk, one is made by this same guy..
wow... thats great leap...

Yes... It Start like this , an Android that talk , And Smile.. 10 Year laters its an Android That Hold A Gun And Is Called Terminator.
Give me a Summer Glau version of that!
An asian woman android...My prayers have been answered!
Dont let Skynet take-over japanese androids.
Ps I'd laugh if the hand suddenly flung up in her face lol
I fall in love this woman..
whoa! is this ghost in the shell now!?
What is the name of the human counterpart of Geminoid-F ????
1:41 Scary. However, they should devolop the robot more realistic. I hope they will make a zombie robot with their technology.
We gotta blow Osaka up
@kewlbook absolutely!
cont...

how much those cost ? :)

It's called a gynoid - not "Female Android" (SIC) :/
it has started.
GOKU, WE NEED YOU.
OMG i didnt know that terminator was real!
My teacher showed us this video during summer skool:) Japanese poeple have only been making adult robots i wonder if they'll make teen robots or little kids robots?
Next step: Terminator
Ah fuck, now Cell's gonna absorb her

incrible, SkyNet!!
very nice...
Which country in America?
For all those who liked that video in few years you should not complain if they will replace humans with robots like that.. :/

Pretty soon we wont be able to tell who is human and who isnt
Very cool
Epic face at 1:48
Soon there will be persocoms.
I love robots.
Eureka !! The future is near !!
1:34 aww, turn that frown upsidedo...
1:39 AAARRGH!
I bet it's full of wires and spark plugs and power cables and leads. I would love to see it stripped down. Haw haw haw.
So does it have an AI?
now is geminoid dk, ultimate-realistic, a clone of henrik scharfe
So, i cant do anything i want with me?
You guys think this is creepy? :( I think it's really pretty!
