      Though she did have a brother who was a two-time slam champ and former #1. I do think if Dinara was able to have a longer career, she may have eventually got over her emotions in GS finals. Look at the likes of Halep, Clijsters, Murray and Lendl. They eventually figured it out, but it took time. Unfortunately for Dinara, she didn't have that time, as her career would be over just over 2 years after this final.

    Dinara Safina is lovely but her career is a perfect illustration of why having talent is only a portion of what it takes to be a great champion. You need to be equally as equipped to handle the mental and emotional aspects of the game, which are often more difficult than hitting perfect forehands and backhands. And Dinara just didn't have it in her.

    • @JessicaJones-me6sp
      @JessicaJones-me6sp 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree. In the big matches she couldn't handle the pressure mentally nor a player that could move well, hit consistently and match her power.

      Keep in mind though, Dinara only had a really small window of time available to her. She made 3 GS finals between 2008-2009. If she had been fortunate enough to have a longer career, she may have been able to figure it out. Remember, Kim Clijsters couldn't come up big in GS finals early on. But she figured it out over time. Simona Halep lost her first 3 finals, but she figured it out over time. Andy Murray lost his first 4 GS finals, but he eventually figured it out. They all had a lot more time. Safina only had 2 seasons at her peak.
