Her body betrayed her. If she had waited at least 2 more years to have a child, she would’ve had at least 25 grand slams now. Almost everyday I as fan grieve over this 😂. I have to tell myself, It’s just time to move on.

@@mdgl1968 Every top player has interesting “what-if“scenarios to muse over:
What if Evert had played more AOs and FOs instead of Team Tennis?
What if Navratilova had followed a strict diet from 1973 on?
What if Steffi had not had her reconstructive knee surgery at age 27?
What if Seles had not been stabbed?
What if Venus had not caught Sjogren’s disease?
Serena‘s alternate scenario starts only at age 35.
No female player since WW2 has won slams from that age on. It is very questionable whether Serena would have added 2 slams or more after the AO 17 without the baby.

She was done mentally. Nothing to do with her age or body. Certainly the nerves and having lots of celebrities and royals come out to see her didn't help. But she had already made the decision to leave tennis and was only playing for her legacy. Her hunger and drive were gone, or channeled elsewhere.

And as the years went on she aged, gained weight, was suffering from a respiratory infection and pregnant. Yet she still beat younger more powerful players. Steffi beat Vicario 62 times and only lost 27-that’s isn’t any competition at all. Graf wouldn’t have been able to win 22 GS if Monica was not stabbed. Like I said, Seles was beating Graf in their last 4GS matches, Seles was also becoming a grass court player. She would have stopped Graf around 15 GS. Seles would have surpassed 15 GS. Graf had a very weak era. Serena made great players like Hingis, Henin, Clijsters and Davenport and Capriati retire. She was over30 and beating women 8-10 years younger than her consistently.

@carrerau7138 ... Hey there 👋🏾... I must admit Steffi is the only player to have the "Calendar Year Golden Slam" or "Golden Grand Slam," but Serena one-uped her when she became the only player in history to have a "Career Golden Slam" in both Singles and Doubles in 2012... That's what Serena knows about the Golden Slam. Steffi can't relate to that level of success in both Singles and Doubles... Only the greatest of all time could relate to that. Oh 🧏🏾, and I'd be remiss to leave out that little 23rd Singles Grand Slam title... 🤷🏾

@@carrerau7138 Whatever makes you feel better about how Serena has outperformed your fave, just go with that... 🤣🤣🤣
By the way, a simple Google search will give you the answer below as to what a "Career Golden Slam" is, but you already know this... 😉
"A player who wins all four Grand Slam tournaments and the Olympic gold medal during the player's career has achieved a Career Golden Slam."
Being the only player in history to do this in both Singles and Doubles is very relevant, historic, and monumental. It's a record that will stand the test of time, much like Steffi's Calendar Year Golden Slam, only better, but again, you know this. 😉
All of Serena's 23 Grand Slam Final wins were against: Martina Hingis (Former #1), Venus Williams (Former #1), Lindsay Davenport (Former #1), Maria Sharapova (Former #1), Jelena Jankovic (Former #1), Dinara Safina (Former #1), Justin Jenin (Former #1), Vera Zvonereva (Former #2), Agnieszka Radwanska (Former #2), Caroline Wozniacki (Former #1), Lucie Safarova (Former Top 5 player), and Angelique Kerber (Former #1)...
We're not even talking about the road to these final matches which are some of the greatest matches in tennis history... Serena is known as the "Queen of Comebacks" because of many thrilling matches in the round of 16, the quarterfinals, and the semi-finals, and in The Finals, but yet again, you know this... 😉
Honorable mention for her first time winning what's known as "The 5th Grand Slam" in '99 at Indian Wells against a very formidable opponent in Steffi Graff or maybe it was just another "East European Ova". 🤣🤣🤣...
Maybe you're on to something though, 5 months later in August of 99, it was certainly "ova" for Steffi as she announced her retirement, but you know this... 😉

      Or 6 “Channel Slams“.
