Not in the case of the Doom franchise...the SNES/NSFC is actually getting a new remade/remastered/expanded port of Doom I/(1993) with some new quality of life improvements according to what Bethesda and id Software said at QuakeCon this year (2024).
I was playing it today and I really enjoyed the game as I’m a huge Kenseiden fan. I don’t know what I did at the start menu but I started the game with 99 arrows and 99 blue lighting bolts. Did you guys put a code in for that?
Man I love new games for old consoles. Some people don't like that new games are coming out and that has always confused me. Anyway I had no idea about that Kenseiden followup that looks incredible! And that Kai Magazine Snatcher things looks awesome as well, I'll definitely pick that up. Shadow Gangs Zero is of course quite promising. Lots of stuff to check out in this video! Earthion will be incredible... except that Limited Run Games will likely be the distributor so that sucks.
Hey, Joe! The channel Retro Gamer Boy posted a couple of videos on that "snatcher like" (Secret of Four Winds, iirc. Sounds like a Zelda game LOL) game a month ago. One is his first impressions and the other is a demo gameplay with no commentaries. TBH, while visually (and sound) impressive, I found the gameplay to be a bit... Boring... But YMMV, of course.
We're releasing a SEGA Genesis twin stick shooter for Steam and GOG, but my co-developer was seriously looking into getting it to run on an actual Genesis. But we decided to explore that once our game (which is called Falconet) first makes a bit of money so that we can justify the time spent on getting it to work on real hardware. Staying under the color limit or sound channels isn't the hard part, but converting our engine to run on real hardware will be an interesting challenge.
That sounds great I would love another quality twin sticker shooter for my Genesis. Keep us posted and let us know how it goes for both Steam and the Genesis.
@GTXDash, if all else fails, then you could use MSU-1 technology to overcome the shortcomings, as the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive also has MSU-1 capabilities as well.
RealBout and Hayato´s Journey are from the Brazilian dev megadrive scene. And let´s not forget Final Fight MD and a new Top-gear from the same brazilian developer as work in progress.
I agree with this great as I grew up with Kenseiden on my Master System and this awesome as I always wanted kenseiden 2 or even to the mega drive and Master Linkuei has done this for us and for free too wow and what about Real Bout Fatal Fury it’s just amazing too see all this for the mega drive as this would have blown my little mind as a kid back then
Wow, you all must be on more drugs than all of the Mexican drug cartels can handle combined if you actually believe in your own hype...while it is a nice looking game, a. it is not in even an alpha build yet, b. there can be better made games for that system, and c. That Real Bout port is looking absolutely amazing. I'm stoked for ZPF, too (backed it on like day 2 of the Kickstarter). It's so awesome how much after-market software there is for Genesis/MD nowadays.
Thanks a lot for the visibility, this is really appreciated. Pre-orders for the Sword of Stone are currently open, with an estimated shipping in September 👍
Just imagining seeing Real Bout Fatal Fury Special on the Mega Drive at that time gives me goosebumps. I remember my brothers and I wishing hard Capcom brought Street Fighter Zero on the Genesis, and it's a much simpler game that could be so close to the arcade. Fortunately, fans are making that happen, there are Street Fighter Alpha 2, Metal Slug and even KOF98 proof of concepts that are very impressive, and now this, proving that even a kid knew what was possible. Don't let me even start arguing about the Saturn and how we thought it was underutilized, even back then.
@@jessragan6714 Yep, it's a proof of concept in Ryu's stage where you can move Ken and Ryu, the visuals are impressive, really close to the arcade original.
It was impossible back then as the cart sizes would’ve been huge. With almost unlimited memory available now, developers can practically turn the MD into a Neo Geo.
@@seedinho Yes, that's true, but it still comes to show that the base Mega Drive hardware is capable of so much more, that was paired back due to ROM size limitations, its CPU and video capabilities are insane, specially for a 1988 home console.

Some great looking games there. Hopefully you do more videos on some of their progress. Already have my eye on ZPF as I'm a fan of his last Genesis game Tanzer. Hayatos and the NEO GEO also look great
The Sega Genesis is really experiencing a huge resurgence. Could you imagine if Sega began reissuing a rash of old first party games for the console and sold them at the big box retailers? They would sell like gangbusters!

Watching them being pushed to the limit and beyond is super exciting and interesting to me. I knew about some of these but not all of them. I'm currently building my ultimate retro gaming machine and I have a strong interest in more games like these to add to the collection. I'd love to see more videos about modern retro game projects worth looking into and worth supporting, and I for one am delighted that people are keeping the love for these machines alive. I plan to eventually get more original hardware as well, so I love the idea of physical releases for these games. The next systems I'm looking at acquiring are Saturn and Dreamcast, but one day I'll have a Tower of Power to replace the one I grew up with and I can't wait to hear those cartridges clicking into place again.

Lots of games I didn't know about, here I thought I was keeping track of these well. Hope to see reviews of each and every one when they get released. Good to see the old hardware stay alive like this.
Real Bout Fatal Fury for the Genesis is way better than most other Genesis fighters that came out back in the day, including the unlicensed ones. The SNES had the better 16-bit fighters compared to the Genesis and PC Engine but pales to the Neo Geo. I’d say it’s the fighting game equivalent to the Genesis port of Darius with the amount of love and care put in to it. I don’t know if it’s complete yet but I want to check it out.
And Symphony of the Night is (sort of) also on its way. It's funny how much overlap there turns out to be between Genesis Fans and Castlevania Fans considering the platform only got 1 Castlevania game in the latter half of its lifespan. Not that I'm complaining, I love me some Castlevania.
Good stuff! These all look amazing! Usually fan-made games have a stigma attached to them, but these all look incredibly polished! I definitely would love to support these developers and try out their games! Yes, I'd definitely be excited to see future news on other new retro games coming out on this channel!
My only complaint about Real Bout Special Genesis is that it's missing my main, Franco Bash. I guess his sprite is too big. The same problem that Earthquake had with the Samurai Shodown Genesis & Sega CD ports.
Would love to see more coverage of games being released for retro consoles. And I mean quality, built from the ground up, new IP types of games (not just patches on games, although you could also do videos for those as long as they are called out correctly 😀 )

Hopefully they can have a software patch so hackers can use the audio for genesis/32x games.
