Thats another thing about Ichigo as a shonen protagonist, he just constantly gets left in the dark, even when there isn't really a reason for it- other shonen characters are either so simple that they ignore plot and explainations most of them, when they even understand (Luffy is a great example) or there are plenty of plot reasons to keep them in the dark, Ichigo just goes arc after arc with minimal explainations about basically everything- how ghosts work, how the soul society works, his own weird powers and family history. Ichigo was always a reactionary character, nothing he would've done if his friends, home, and world weren't hanging in the balance. 1. He only acted as substitute soul reaper for Rukia and his sisters. 2. He only invaded Soul Society since Rukia's life was on the line. 3. He only invaded Hueco Mundo since Orihime's life was on the line. (wow, 2 and 3 were really just the same plot, huh?) 4. He only got training as a fullbringer because of the responsibility he put on himself from the first three. It was his reaction to losing his powers when beating Aizen, and knowing that with him powerless, his friends aren't going to have a Kenpachi-level man to bail them out when they get in over their heads. and finally, 5. He only got involved in the TYBW because once again, his friends were in danger, along with his world. I mean, he saw a hollow standing outside his window, and it pulled out a Quincy's bow, which was certainly suspicious, but that was just the beginning of the plot threads. That's not to say he didn't have moments when he took an active role, but Ichigo was mostly reactionary. Just a somewhat normal guy who got dragged into this shit and became the savior of the world three-times over.
The new Hell Arc will have him 100% involved because his kid got dragged into supernatural shit without him knowing. No guarantee that Orihime will follow his footsteps though, probably just be that SAHM waiting for her man to come back with the kid.
This is why Ichigo (and Bleach) is my favourite lmaooo The fits go crazy too, but mostly it's hella funny (also turn Back The Pendulum is my favourite arc ever)
Ichigo is one of my all time favs because he is real af. His personality is relatable and he just seems like one of the more genuine characters in this genre…I do wish he was a lil less stoic but I suppose that does change later on in the series
Man, looking back, these episodic mini story in early arc of bleach are just fun to watch . It's not too draggy or over told . There are a few manga/anime did the same method too , like hitman reborn , Jojo part 4, kekkaishi . It really flesh out and introduce each characters briefly before the main plot starting to surface
My favorite part of Bleach is that almost everyone around Ichigo knows more about what is going on, and is 100% able to explaine things to him but choose not to. His dad should have instantly known that a hollow attacked his family, a soul reaper was living in his closet, his son was a soul reaper, and that a bunch of quincies/fulbringers were running around beating up hollows in town. Rukia should have explained the basics of being a soul reaper and just didn't. Hat guy should have been training Ichigo from the day they met, didn't bother until Rukia got arrested. They gave a teenager god like powers and threw him into political wars with no information for years. He knows he can do magic, but no one ever bothered to teach him how.
Dad Kurosaki was super-mega retired, to the point I imagine he willfully repressed any form of acknowlegement of any Soul Society related shenanigans going on around him Rukia was a sheltered wunderkind to whom being a soul reaper was so natural that it never even occurred to her what would or would not need explaining to an ignorant outsider And good old hat-and-clogs just found the whole thing really, REALLY funny
I woke up, got my caffeine and am now ready to drink some Mugi Brand Bleach. In all seriousness! I'm really glad you started this series, especially since TYBW Pt. 3 is coming out this Summer.
I know people always compare Ichigo to the other MC’s like Goku but realistically if Luffy and Naruto are in the realm being compared to Goku Ichigo really is more of a Piccolo guy. Doesn’t say much, gets the job done, has a higher IQ than 12 from other mc’s, but really just wants to vibe being left alone. Thing is that personally is in the main character role being Ichigo
bleach has been my favorite anime for 5 years now and i cant stand the disrespect it gets even though its big 3 and imo the best in the big 3 im glad you do bleach justice!
Thanks for this. If you have an interest in doing this for all the big 3 pillars, _D.Gray-man_ was a peak mix of super dark and shonen goofy; like one of the most initially disquieting elements is you have some the darkest demons in fiction, being led by Buggs bunny.
This takes me back! I used to watch Bleach on Adult Swim. Maybe I'll watch it again. Thanks, Mugi! 😂 Much love and blessings, to you and your crew! 🤗❤️💖💜🙏
10:54 I'm going to "that guy", the chapter this episode was based on is from 2002, Ichigo would be playing FF X or the MMO, FF XI. Ichigo would be going home to enjoy either a painfully rudimentary MMO, or the, at the time greatest meme of Final Fantasy, known as Blitzball.
Yo, Rukia didnt mean to transfer all her power to ichigo, she meant to give a portion, if it had gone as she 'planned' it would have taken her a short amount of time to recover her powers. Instead she was stuck outside soul society without any ability to heal herself; kind of a rock and a hard place.
Disclaimer: (I haven’t finished bleach so this might’ve been confirmed) I have a theory that some of chads Mexican relatives were hollows, or related to hollows
I don’t know why but I like Bleach’s humor so much (aside from Kon). It helps that unlike other Manga, Ichigo really is *just a dude* experiencing all this for the first time. I think the Omake/Shinigami Illustarted are so funny at the end of episodes.
When I found Bleach I stayed up all night for the first time in my life just reading exactly the chapters covered in this video and it was the best thing ever. Then everyone started swinging swords around.
Tbh, I count the entirety of Bleach from this point to the final fight with Aizen as a single Arc. Just because it's clear that Kubo crafted a very long, but interconnected story with a single big bad that has numerous plot points. an "Arc" in another Shounen Anime like DB or One Piece, has 1 Big Bad, big bad is defeated, next arc. For MOST of bleach the bad guy is Aizen, therefore, that's one arc. Naruto Shippuden is the only exception I make to this because we didn't know who the Big Bad was until the very end.
1 Ichigo could already see ghost and so wasn't normal 2 Ichigo's family was in trouble because of him which he has trauma about (most people forget this) 3 Rukia didnt plan on giving him all of her powers only half 4 it was all orchestrated by Aizen (another fact most people forget)
Exactly she was only meant to give him half her power when he absorbed all of her strength she was shocked and surprised. And somehow ichigo resisted her spell she cast on him and dissolved it.
Ichigo really just wanted to finish school, go to college, become a doctor, and take over his dads clinic. The simple life.😩 But everyone said "No"....😅
I’m on my first read-through of Bleach and Ichigo might be my favorite of the Big 3 MCs. Dude is just straight R&R. Handle business when you have to, chill otherwise
You know, I kinda get Ichigo. You're right, he's very reactive, and honestly, everything that happens in the series is basically thrust onto him by people who hate him yet still expect him to do their dirty work. Not to mention, Ichigo isn't even getting paid! Yeah, if I was forced to become an intern ghost buster and get nothing out of it save a sword and a work uniform I'd want to get the job over with and go home to play video games too.
Bleach was my favorite. He has some of the best "he is HIM" moments in anime. Just outright punk'd every guy that thought they had him beat. Sure he might be soul king's jesus, but y'know thats okay. At least kubo makes strong female characters, who also happen to be very attractive. He also just draws in a very unique way. I have been loving tybw and kubo commenting on the fact that he and studio perriot have been discussing reanimating the entirety of bleach with himself and the director at the helm is just too exciting at this point. Give original bleach manga a dx release under their guidance will be incredible
As someone who just recently watched, jjk and someone who’s never watched bleach, but decided to watch this video and the last bleach video I noticed the similarities and differences between yuji and Ichigo and I would love a jjk is hilarious video
Fun fact, domain expansion is directly inspired by Bankai, the mangaka talks about the moments where ryuiki tenkai is revealed is meant to evoke the same feeling as when you see a new bankai.
hello! bleach fan here! sorry for the broken english, but i have the answer to why rukia gave ichigo her powers, you see, right before episode one, only a few weeks ago, rukia had the incident involving kaien shibas' death, she went to the human world as a "time off" only a week later she's in ichigo's room facing the hollow, now she saw everyone in danger and ichigo specifically (she saw ichigo being really similar to kaien, after all they are cousins) so she tried to help him by giving him her powers temporarily, it was a crime but nobody had to know, what she didnt knew was that kisuke had hidden the hogyoku inside of her, wich was an item designed to fullfil the users desires, what rukia desired was to not be a shinigami, after all, ever since she joined them she had to abandon renji, join the kuchiki family who didnt liked her so much and lost kaien, the hogyoku followed her desires and un-shinigamied her, wich she didnt expected and prevented her from hiding the crime
the funniest thing about bleach is that unlike naruto who want to be hokage or luffy who wants to be king of the pirates, Ichigo fights because he likes fighting. he can stop at any time if he wants but he enjoys the idea of fighting. he doesnt have a goal he just in for a fight and i think that is hilarious
One thing to bear in mind about Bleach: the power system isn't nearly as nonsensical as it might seem at times. It's actually just that the vast majority of characters themselves don't understand the power system they're using. So a lot of what we heard first-hand from characters is either incomplete or outright wrong. And those who actually *do* know are mostly people like Urahara and Mayuri who aren't going to give you any straight explanations.
The hollow summon was not supposed to summon more than a few. It's hundreds of them because of natural phenomenon they both didn't know about. Also, if they didn't use it now the hollows would have burst in in more quantity many years later.

@@eliaspanayi3465 Did she die? huh, well there is also the whole "noone explains things to Ichigo until the last possible moment" issue, on top of how fast the combat is, he could legitimately have been too confused to explain- or Aizen just kept everyone from hearing him until it was too late.
Parts of it make sense from a "the author left it vauge to fill in the details later" sense, but in universe he never gets the relevant lore until the last moment, or even later.
"We shall now sentence Rukia for the crimes of; not dying and, saving family from dying" ~ Magic Bowling Ball Zombie
Ichigo is the straight man to a case full of insane people and it's genuinely funny as hell. Orihime is undinged bro
It’s a shame she gets shelved to the spectator role so often, she is a harbinger of chaos and deserved far more plot relevance
@@scrungobeepis5443that would make her a relatable and make sense of the unresonable romance that she gets with Ichigo, that in the series make no fucking sense
@@microcelltechnicalassistence read the manga. In the manga it makes sense because the guy that was the one planing out the show was an avid Rukia x Ichigo shipper so he took out every single Orihime and Ichigo moment that he could
@@Kacszu the thing is, i read the manga and probably there are more, but i'm still not really a fan of them
@@microcelltechnicalassistence well in that case I'm sorry to tell you but you are blind to love because Orihime x Ichigo is the fucking best. I feal sorry for you because you can't expirience it.
My favorite part about Ichigo is unlike Luffy or Naruto, he doesn't really have a goal. He just beats up whoever's in front of him
Deadass and only if he has to
Hes a lot more relatable than most shonen protagonists because of this. Makes me like him a lot more.
@@Chris-ks4swyes I also beat up everyone in front of me very relatable
Naruto: I wanna become super ninja hyper president!!
Luffy: I want to become the most free man in the world with no responsibilities!
Ichigo: I want to see next Thursday.
He does have a goal. It’s just down to earth, simple, relatable. He wants to protect his friends and family. This was shown in literally what started everything, and clearly motivates him constantly.
I'm convinced that Bleach is now about Ichigo working a dead end job to clear out spirits while trying to get back to playing Final Fantasy VII
Ichigo, chilling at home playing FF7: "Cloud is just like me fr."
17:23 This should have been a tip off that Ichigo was using Quincy power as early as back then.
Me: Urahara's gonna be a stoner, isn't he?
Me later: Eyupp, I wasn't disappointed.
The funniest part to me when the eyepatch dudes power up was using both hands to swing his sword.
"Wait, the old guy told me if I wanna swing my sword with more force, I can use.. BOTH hands?"
And worst of all it really did work😞🤦🏽♀️
I drive so much and your videos are the perfect thing to listen to. I have a camera in my truck and I bet my managers think I'm on crack since I'm always laughing to myself.
I love that man 😂😂 glad I can help make driving cool!
Dammit, Mugi, I'm leaving for a hike and you drop this? Now my ass has to wait lol
😂😂 preciate the support and good luck on the hike my dawg 🫡
Why not just listen on phone 🤔 while hiking
Breaking Chad's powers down to his arm just being Mexican is the funniest thing I've heard today.
“Manager of the ghost drug store” that’s pretty accurate
halfway through the video and i wanna mention how unhinged and unrestrained, how little Ichigo truly cares about himself(most of the times), because you went from Kon to Kannonji to ichida, skipping some of the best episodes of that period:
Episode 4: Chad tanks a bunch of falling construction-bars to protect a parrot and later Ichigo finds the hollow chasing that parrot(that has a soul of a kid in it), this hollow has frog-bombs, Ichigo punches through the hollow's teeth while holding those frog-bombs and let them explode while still holding them and then rips the hollow's tongue
Episode 9: Here we see how little Ichigo cares about his own health when things become personal, trying to kill Fisher(the hollow that killed Ichigo's mom, and Fisher admits that he was going for Ichigo but has a thing for women, and Ichigo's mom died to protect Ichigo...any mention of his mom to ichigo, it's like asking to die on a horrible death) for revenge while his soul-bowels are spilling like a fountain on a graveyard while his dad watches(we learn this much later) the whole thing unimpressed and Kon(in ichigo's body) talks to him about life or something.

Real, Chad move making some Bleach content.
Viva la México!
Man, I have NOT seen bleach in years. Thanks for the massive amounts of fun reintroducing me to a classic!
Also Urahara selling spirit Molly is just perfect. Of course he'd be the spirit drug dealer
(wow, 2 and 3 were really just the same plot, huh?)
4. He only got training as a fullbringer because of the responsibility he put on himself from the first three. It was his reaction to losing his powers when beating Aizen, and knowing that with him powerless, his friends aren't going to have a Kenpachi-level man to bail them out when they get in over their heads.
and finally,
Ichigo is like spider man with ghosts
“Chad has a Mexican Arm” 😂😂😂😂😂😂
This is why Ichigo (and Bleach) is my favourite lmaooo The fits go crazy too, but mostly it's hella funny (also turn Back The Pendulum is my favourite arc ever)
Ichigo’s kinda like Katniss Everdeen the way he keeps getting dragged into shit he wants no part of being involved in 😂
Ichigo never ONCE uses kido!
Fuckin' RENGI uses Shakkaho affectively at least once
And like...he points it out "I suck at this, but I can do it" *BOOM*
Dad Kurosaki was super-mega retired, to the point I imagine he willfully repressed any form of acknowlegement of any Soul Society related shenanigans going on around him
Rukia was a sheltered wunderkind to whom being a soul reaper was so natural that it never even occurred to her what would or would not need explaining to an ignorant outsider
And good old hat-and-clogs just found the whole thing really, REALLY funny
I woke up, got my caffeine and am now ready to drink some Mugi Brand Bleach. In all seriousness! I'm really glad you started this series, especially since TYBW Pt. 3 is coming out this Summer.
I know people always compare Ichigo to the other MC’s like Goku but realistically if Luffy and Naruto are in the realm being compared to Goku Ichigo really is more of a Piccolo guy. Doesn’t say much, gets the job done, has a higher IQ than 12 from other mc’s, but really just wants to vibe being left alone. Thing is that personally is in the main character role being Ichigo
bleach has been my favorite anime for 5 years now and i cant stand the disrespect it gets even though its big 3 and imo the best in the big 3 im glad you do bleach justice!
i cant wait to watch this with the bestie "I would still save the day but I could not be bothered for the follow up conversation"
Much love and blessings, to you and your crew! 🤗❤️💖💜🙏
Bleach on adult swim was such a vibe!!! Much love you should definitely give it a watch again!
Petition to make this man Urahara's official voice actor if they ever remake Bleach
0:35 "...hey, substitute or NO ONE AT ALL. *pick one"*
XD
Disclaimer: (I haven’t finished bleach so this might’ve been confirmed) I have a theory that some of chads Mexican relatives were hollows, or related to hollows
16:35 Damn, Ichigo, They know you like that? 😢
God, this is so nostalgic. Bleach has a very special spot in my anime lists, love seeing your take on it my dude.
All the Mexican jokes for Chad had me in stitches, as a Mexican who loved watching Bleach when it first came out
1 Ichigo could already see ghost and so wasn't normal 2 Ichigo's family was in trouble because of him which he has trauma about (most people forget this) 3 Rukia didnt plan on giving him all of her powers only half 4 it was all orchestrated by Aizen (another fact most people forget)
Rukia never ment to transfer all her power to him she too was schocked to find out he was so much stronger then her.
Exactly she was only meant to give him half her power when he absorbed all of her strength she was shocked and surprised. And somehow ichigo resisted her spell she cast on him and dissolved it.
im actually curious now how ichigo would respond to being told by a soul they want more than a substitute. "sorry pepsi soul reaper, coke only"
Ichigo really just wanted to finish school, go to college, become a doctor, and take over his dads clinic. The simple life.😩
But everyone said "No"....😅
Honestly I think Ichigo is just like Peter Parker of anime
This series is amazing, you gotta keep these going Mugi. Can't wait to see how you turn the soul society arc into another funny video.
Need more of this, bleach is hilarious
16:07......they stopped...etc...😂😂😂
Kisuke sounding like matthew mcconaughey is amazing
I’m on my first read-through of Bleach and Ichigo might be my favorite of the Big 3 MCs. Dude is just straight R&R. Handle business when you have to, chill otherwise
I love that when the ad finished with you modeling atop the table it goes from you back to you saying, well that situation is resolved. It was great
Chads Mexican grandparents 😂😂😂
You know, I kinda get Ichigo. You're right, he's very reactive, and honestly, everything that happens in the series is basically thrust onto him by people who hate him yet still expect him to do their dirty work.
Not to mention, Ichigo isn't even getting paid! Yeah, if I was forced to become an intern ghost buster and get nothing out of it save a sword and a work uniform I'd want to get the job over with and go home to play video games too.
"Chad has a mexican arm", lol didn't know that was a super power
Bleach was my favorite. He has some of the best "he is HIM" moments in anime. Just outright punk'd every guy that thought they had him beat. Sure he might be soul king's jesus, but y'know thats okay. At least kubo makes strong female characters, who also happen to be very attractive. He also just draws in a very unique way.
I have been loving tybw and kubo commenting on the fact that he and studio perriot have been discussing reanimating the entirety of bleach with himself and the director at the helm is just too exciting at this point. Give original bleach manga a dx release under their guidance will be incredible
the way you portrayed kisuke made me laugh too hard
“I don’t know what a soul reaper is, but I think I want more than a substitute” is a great point
@@tinfoilslacks3750 cool
Okkotsu Yuta's domain expansion is a direct reference to Ichigo's bankai training btw. Not the technique itself, but the presentation.
We need more of this soon. Never got a notification for part 2. It's even better than the first. Can't wait for part 3.
I know you didn't skip Chad punching a Hollow without even knowing it.
The parody segments are amazing. So much better than any Bleach abridged series I’ve seen. I would love to see more of that.
YESS BLEACH IT'S MY FAVOURITE NEXT TO ONE PIECE, KEEP DOING MORE HILARIOUS VIDS OF THIS SHOW!!!!
Can't wait for Zanpakuto rebelion arc.
It may be a filler but it's definitely hilarious.
1:30 ichigo done popped a perc and lost it
i told bro we geek hard
Yoooo of course he'd be playing FF7 Rebirth. Probably looks at Clouds weapons like "He just like me"
I had to subscribe, you have me dying 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
This man is truly a goat lmfao he finna do the big 3 is Goofy series
hello! bleach fan here! sorry for the broken english, but i have the answer to why rukia gave ichigo her powers, you see, right before episode one, only a few weeks ago, rukia had the incident involving kaien shibas' death, she went to the human world as a "time off" only a week later she's in ichigo's room facing the hollow, now she saw everyone in danger and ichigo specifically (she saw ichigo being really similar to kaien, after all they are cousins) so she tried to help him by giving him her powers temporarily, it was a crime but nobody had to know, what she didnt knew was that kisuke had hidden the hogyoku inside of her, wich was an item designed to fullfil the users desires, what rukia desired was to not be a shinigami, after all, ever since she joined them she had to abandon renji, join the kuchiki family who didnt liked her so much and lost kaien, the hogyoku followed her desires and un-shinigamied her, wich she didnt expected and prevented her from hiding the crime
the funniest thing about bleach is that unlike naruto who want to be hokage or luffy who wants to be king of the pirates, Ichigo fights because he likes fighting. he can stop at any time if he wants but he enjoys the idea of fighting. he doesnt have a goal he just in for a fight and i think that is hilarious
The funny part about Chad is that we don't find out how his power works until after Ichigo loses his
did you know Ichigo became a whole ass fucking DOCTOR?
I don’t even have to get passed the ads to know this is about to be a hilarious banger.
I love these videos on bleach, I havnt ever seen bleach, but now I desperately need to
Just remember that Kon would have been named Kai, but it was too much badarsery for this lion clown :p
Please continue this series, this is absolute comedy gold.
He went from busting ghosts to fighting a big ass man with a big ass mustache.
Actually watching through Bleach as of recently
I NEED MORE OF THIS
The strongest power in any anime is talk no justu it puts the villians in a trance to listen and stop what they're doing 🤣🤣
Strawberry
The hollow summon was not supposed to summon more than a few.
It's hundreds of them because of natural phenomenon they both didn't know about.
Also, if they didn't use it now the hollows would have burst in in more quantity many years later.
It's also funny how the manga had stuff that got skipped in anime like the hollow who ripped off their mask
