What is electrode:-substance that is a good conductor of electricity and these substances usually connect non-metallic parts of a circuit for example semiconductors, an electrolyte, plasmas, vacuum or even air.
electrodes are used in electrolysis due to their competence as a conductor and the number of free electrons they have available for transfer. and they can be used for a wide range of different reactions-
We use carbon rods because it's a good conducter of electricity and it is a rod that helps to flow the current Whereas if we put terminals direct there will be a chance of circuit issues or some accidents may cause and the main reason is that the flow of current will not be proper
Basically there are two variations in electrodes namely Cathode & Anode, One has the tendency to gain electrons while the another has the tendency to loose. So in order to properly balance the flow of electricity accordingly we use electrods instead of directly immersing the wires into the solution.
@@kuldeepchhetri1355 Both can be same electrodes in some cases. How one can lose electrons and other gains the electrons? Instead of using same electrodes can't we immerse wires directly? Will appreciate the answer of this, Thanks.
"Madam why we connect ends of wires into water directly without using carbon rods???" and another doubt is "why you connect metal caps at the upper side of the carbon rods where the end of the wires we connect???
It was an experiment to check the positive or negative terminal so in this we find positive current makes the potato turn green and thus we identified the positive terminal!
I think the electrodes possess some special properties due to which they become charged on connecting them to the respective terminals of the battery u urself think the connecting wires do not become charged like the electrodes do and if they do not become charged how will ions be deposited over them and hence it will show no chemical effect

6:39 mam you wasted so many potatoes 🥔😂😂

Google 🤣
Why to use Electrodes? Can't we put the two ends of wires directly into solution?
At the end electrodes are also conductots, right?

Thanks for the information contained in this video. Now my all doubt are cleared ❤😊
Thank you soo much maam , as u have cleared all my doubts through this video . I was so confused with the experiment but now I clearly understood
Mam can u tell me why we can't put the terminals directly in the solution ....or why we used the carbon rods...
Yes
I also... Problem
We use carbon rods because it's a good conducter of electricity and it is a rod that helps to flow the current
Whereas if we put terminals direct there will be a chance of circuit issues or some accidents may cause and the main reason is that the flow of current will not be proper
very nice explanation
There are are three types of electrodes
1. Anode
2. Cathode
3. Binod💥
Thanks ma'am. This class help me very much.
Glad to hear that
Thankyou mam you have very nicely explained😃😃😃😃
What special property do the electrodes have that we use them instead of directly immersing the wires into the battery

Anode of oxidation
Cathode of reduction

Thank you Ma'am for explaining very easily I understood the all things
I was confused so much .......
Thank you very much😊😊
She fricking reaD THE NCERT textbook..
['conFused' ot seems 💀☠]

Why green patches came over that potato what type of chemical reaction occurred

Could not understand this topic but a lot of thanks to toppr and ma'am because of them I was able to clear this topic
Many people doesn’t use toppr
But they doesn’t know that they teach soo well
They teach in worst way 🤮
Thnks alot mam...
Really amazing..
God bless u...
Once again...thnks....thnku so much..
Thanks Mam..My doubt regarding the concerned topic got cleared because of u...
Nice explanation mam
thank you so much ma'am
Thanks
so nice explanation mam . can we use bulb also instead of magnetic needle
We r in same class 🖐🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗👿😎👿
NexT elon musK 🙌
I have one more question and that is we use carbon rode foe another electrolysis of other substances
Yay something discovered 😊
Is electricity also produce magnet and how?
Why the green spot appear ?
Due to chemical effect....
Due to passing of eloctrone
The positive copper electrode and the substance present in the potato undergo chemical reaction when the electrons pass through them
Nice!!!!
Amazing lecture
Only one question why why and why we can't directly connect the battery wires in water rather using electrodes????
Reply me
I think the electrodes possess some special properties due to which they become charged on connecting them to the respective terminals of the battery u urself think the connecting wires do not become charged like the electrodes do and if they do not become charged how will ions be deposited over them and hence it will show no chemical effect
What happen if the wire is directly immersed?? It shows chemical effect or not
Please tell mama!
Mam*
So, moral of the experiment:- Hame ped paudhe lagane ki jarurat nahi hai bus ye experiment karo 🤣🤣
Right 😂
Ahh, thank you soo much! This was really helpful XD
Thank you mam for such a good lecture
excuse me mam , I have some question and that is why we use metallic cap
Thanks it makes me easy to understand..
I am in class 11 still I am studying this.🤣🤣
Mee 2
12th here😂🤪
Mee too 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
🤭🤭🤭
Oh!!!!!
And what was that green spot???
Where did the acid went??
Define electrode
Plz ik lecture oxidation ka b bana da phir sa
how she pronounced ''potaatoe'' 😂
poTAto💀
[she is actually just typa reading the textbook.. like EXaCtLY]
oh my God life saver thank you
brehh..
just read the textbook.. [its.the.same]
i have a doubt, is it physics or chemistry
Bhaut accha
U literally didn't teach anything.... All you said is written in the book, I came here to see the video cause I wanted the real life experiment...
Yes
Right sayoinh
She is just reading the ncert textbook. Bruhh 😂😂
Yaa
Mam it's physics not chemistry
It's also in chemistry for engineering.
or really just chemistry, came from tyler dewitt and moved here
Why potato become green

Ok thanks
