Fred Chichin, miss him so much, he was a genious.
Rita Mitsouko is one of those bands, in France, as soon as you play a song in a party everyone goes on the dancefloor, especially this one and Marcia Baila.
The lyrics are also much deeper than they sems to be, very well written. Rita Mitsouko was unique, I saw them live a few times, and saw Catherine in solo tour too, she's awesome. The way they loved each other is in their music too, and now their childs are in music too and does great songs, their daughter is just a Catherine's clone, with the same skill with her voice.
Catherine was criticized for the way she earned money before being famous (I'm sure you know what...) but she is so talented that even the ones who were very "angry" about it must admit she's above all a fantastic artist.

Oh, Les Rita Mitsouko - from Paris with love! Unparalleled to anything else on the 1980s pop scene. Quirky cutting-edge pop music accompanied by quirky cutting-edge music videos (most of them directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino).
Catherine Ringer was/is truly a brilliant performer, dancer and singer, and Fred Chichin (RIP) was a great songwriter & producer. They released a lot of great music but three singles were very special to me: "Marcia Baila", "C'est Commes Ça" and "Le Petit Train". Legendary Bowie and Iggy Pop producer Tony Visconti produced two of their albums. Timeless pop music!

Hi Dereck! Thanks for reacting on the second time on Rita Mitsouko! They are an atypical and eccentric group whether in their look or in their music what makes their originality. They attract attention.
This song "C'Est Comme Ca" released in November 1986 is very well known, EPIC and WORSHIP in their career.
I love this catchy air (especially music) but it's true that lyrics are "bizarre" like you said, even I don't understand them, it makes you want to sing especially when you are a child at the playground with classmates at the time ! ☺
The video directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino (commercial director and photographer who worked with french singers like Axel Bauer, Vanessa Paradis, Alain Bashung, Marc Lavoine in duo with CATHERINE RINGER, Téléphone and also international singers like Madonna in 1987 for "Open Your Heart" video, David Bowie, keziah Jones, Sting, Björk, Bryan Ferry, Don Henley (singer and drummer of Eagles!), using computer graphics signed by studio Mac Guff and awarded at Victoires De La Musique in 1987.
The final guitar solo is played by English guitarist Sam Smith.
I remember this song is used in the movie "La Vie Est Un Long Fleuve Tranquille" (Life Is A Long Quiet River) shot in Summer 1987 by Etienne Chatiliez with the young actor at the time Benoît Magimel (he was 12) released in the cinemas in 1988.
The WORSHIP scene is in this link at the 44th second if you want to watch : th-cam.com/video/RrtB7j3rDG8/w-d-xo.html.
For the next react, you have to react on ANDY in 1986 ( taken from "No Comprendo" album), WORSHIP too! : th-cam.com/video/Ae-tP-rFJl0/w-d-xo.html : synths, drums, guitars and horns too!!!! you'll like it!
Le Petit Train in 1988 (about the deportation of the Jews) : th-cam.com/video/Pn5X4_JCJgg/w-d-xo.html .
And a collaboration with an American group (you surely know 'em) The Sparks with "Singing In The Shower" in 1988, EPIC!!!! : th-cam.com/video/T6gwIgsHMis/w-d-xo.html .
By dint of reacting to french artists and french songs, you will end up speaking, understanding French and becoming a French citizen! lol
We welcome you with open arms! ☺

You should look for Béruriers Noirs if you want french punk. And they're punk not only in music but also in spirit. At the Festival d'été de Québec, they requested to have all the sponsors banners on the stage hidden before performing as they don't want to be associated with any corporate stuff. The organization obliged and they gave their show afterward.

Hi, I am glad you like The Rita Mitsouko, this specific song is the song of my teenage years. For a French of any generation, it is a staple, since it is still played on radios. I agree with you, Catherine is made for art. She started younger as a pornographic actress in the 70's, met Frederic Chichin and got into this rock aventure. If you love her body language and the way she moves, please, look at the Video "Y a de la Haine". It is musically interesting, and this is the video in which they underline their complicity both in music and life, since they were a couple. Whenever you see her now, she has this melancholic look, and must miss Fred who passed away from a cancer years ago. Good job for your analysis, you are really fair and precise. Thank you.

Catherine, the great Catherine, is still active, as creative as ever.

Hello Derek, new french viewer here and I just want to :
    - congratulate you for videos, you have a great positive vibe that is truly refreshing,
    - thank you for your interest in french music, keeping great artists alive through your reactions vids,
    - and say that I hope there will be others patreons (I'm broke af) to push Véronique Sanson (Bernard's song, Vancouver), Mano Negra (ronde de nuit, long Kong five), Noir Désir (l'homme pressé, un jour en France), Téléphone (c'est vraiment toi, Cendrillon) and so much more others great french artists to you.

So great you enjoy this part of our musical culture which is so important !! Great loss when they stopped and then when fred died... niagara (another band) was also cool but there’s nothing compared to this musical time we had and which is totally gone... i feel like there’s nothing as experimental and of quality than what we had at the time... but maybe I’m just getting old ??!! Thx for sharing;)

Hi Dereck great reaction, it's so nice to see someone foreign loving this terrific band from France ! I would love to see you react to "La sorcière et l'inquisiteur", it's a less known song from the same band, it's beautiful and very particular, kind of theatrical, with a mystic theme, I'm sure you would be very intrigued by it...

A little known fact about the Rita Mitsouko is that they featured System of a Down's singer Serj Tankian on their 2007 album Variéty. The song is called Terminal Beauty, and it's a gem! Sadly this album was their last, since Fred Chichin died that same year, but I highly recommend it. :)

I hate the eighties, because I was a teenager ill at ease with lots of complex and acne 😂 but it's true that there was so much originality, liberty, different styles, good songs makers, strange artists, some of inventiveness and madness in FRENCH MUSIC... 😂 I loved les Négresses Vertes, Pigalle, Indochine, Étienne Daho... I hope and I think he knows SERGE GAINSBOURG...

Hi Derek ! Thanks for reacting to so many French songs on your channel ! Here in France, we tend to forget how many great songs we've had over the years, and particularly around this period of time. If I may offer a suggestion : please try "La ville" by the group "Oui oui". Not the same kind of music, but the video is as insane as this one, if not more :D !
