A downside of all of this is that it will replace passport stamping and a number of vacationers like getting their passports stamped. A disappointment there. Also, the ETIAS is actually a visa waiver. More confusion there. Visas are applied for at embassies or consulates. And another thing that is not clear is when is all of this going to start? EES has been delayed again, with no new start date, meaning ETIAS will be delayed starting. And I'm hearing that when ETIAS starts, there MAY be a grace period. I've also heard once it starts, you better have it, or you probably won't get passed the check-in counter. And if you somehow make it passed the check-in counter, you might get sent back at your first point of entry in the EU, Will their be a grace period or not? So many people don't know about the ETIAS.
Hi Kat, I just wanted to say I find your 'living in a van' channel the most helpful one out there bar none. I'm not sure if you can help me with this query (if you have time), if you can this would be great, if not - no worries. So I was born in the UK and I live in the UK, I live in my motorhome and I have a dog (just like you do). However, I'm entitled to an Irish passport as my parents are Irish. Bearing in mind I still live in the UK do you think if I travel on an Irish passport in Europe it would make my life a lot easier? The complication would be, I guess, when I get my pet passport for my dog he will have a British passport. (originally my dog is from China, but that's another story - let's not complicate it any further 😉) So I was wondering how the heck this works out travelling together, me and my dog. And indeed, how beneficial an Irish passport would be for me. Only asking because of your vast experience with traveling with a dog abroad post Brexit. Any advice would be really welcome, thanks again, ATB Jimmy. ☘
Very interesting. However, at the moment only those aged between 18 and 70 will have to pay a fee for obtaining an ETIAS although all still need to get one. Think I'll be avoiding Dover for a year or two until the EES has been sorted.
Coolagreen it will of course make your life easier for moving into and through Europe. Where you actually live is not registered on your Irish passport...
Suppose this only applies to the everyday law abiding citizen and not if you're an immigrant, migrating your way through EU countries on the way to the UK!
3rd country nationals will still have to apply for a Schengen visa or entry visa to non Schengen EU countries ie. Cyprus. So whatever happened to freedom of movement this seems to apply only to those arriving in boats or on the back of trucks. The value of a passport is now muted EES and ETIAS are the new passports so why do we need traditional passports for Europe. Cyprus are planning to introduce a citizens app in the future this will have most government documents on it ie, car registration MOT details medical records etc, plus your FP and photographs bank account details etc. Where are we going with this who has access to these details.
Useful, but before that comes in there will be no doubt add ons. Portugal now having digital Vaccine records, EU would like this throughout, and no doubt want us in UK to have this to enter. There will be other “nice” things they want. Will it stop migrants entering EU - NO. It will only penalise those who comply. I would love to see the airport chaos when say Man City play in Europe, and thousands of fans travel to say Paris or Berlin.
This is only going to deter UK holiday makers. Maybe that's want they want but we spend billions of euro's in Europe. Families will think twice for that 2 week holiday on the Costa's
Thanks Kat. An absolutely brillant & informative video.
Thank you Kat very useful information
Thanks Kat for making things clear 😊
Makes sense this, just a shame the EU/UK aren`t so strict on illegal movement.
However as long as you have some sort of inflatable you can just come straight into the UK!

Thanks Kat!

Do you know what will happen with the EE: if you are already in the EU when it comes into force ????

What if you have an Irish passport and travelling ro spain ?

Free movement was never just into the UK... so now we are reaping what we sewed 😢

Just think - how few bottles of wine needs to be purchased to have saved those 7 euros
My wife and I both have Irish passports. I am assuming that we don’t need either of these as we would be classed as EU citizens. Is this correct?
I bet a fair few UK citizens , Motorhoners voted for this , 90 days a proper mess
So what happens in the likes of my case where I am British with a British passport, but my wife is Spanish with a Spanish passport.
What about George Orwell's finger prints BB is watching you.
Yet another great benefit of Brexit. Thanks very much
thanks control is brought to mind

Well done Brexit voters. Johnson and Farage really stitched you all up.
Kat's got braces.
Finger prints, but I’m not a criminal
