Thanks Greg. I agree, Zurich is a lovely city. Tram travel around Zurich is so relaxing and very convenient. I recommend a ferry cruise around Lake Zurich. Travelling up to Rapperswil by ferry is a lovely afternoon trip. A walk around the area of the Castle at Rapperswil is very nice too. The area includes: a lovely promenade, swimming area, deer park, belvedere, Castle, and rose garden. All very charming.
I love Zurich. I lived there for 4 years. I am now back at home in San Diego California but if I had the work opportunity I would would for sure return to Zurich.
Swiss currency is extremely strong and I feel that visiting restaurants in Switzerland is no longer an option. For our two week holiday in Switzerland we bought a bagette, some sausage like chorizo and a cucumber in supermarket chains such as migros and coop. That set us back about 10 Swiss francs daily. Did not feel we lost out on anything.

omg soooo true! I've just encountered your video, and yesterday was our last day in Zurich! Somehow we also didn't do these you mentioned in your video and all these shouldn't-do-things made our vacation perfect! We didn't rent a car cos we think if a country has a great railway structure we should use trains if it's necessary. According to us, being a tourist means wandering around, losting in the streets. So, this decision gave us delightful times! As you said in your video, we went to other districts by train! And it made us create a better picture of Zurich! And we definitely don't regret this decision of ours! Again, as you mentioned, we weren't covered by luxuries! We were what we are in our normal life! And I can easily say that the people of Zurich don't give you a humiliating look! Unfortunately, we experienced this annoying situation in another country, and this behavior is really disgusting! I won't tell you which country it is, but in Zurich people are lovely, and they don't criticize you about what you wear! So, always be yourself! Like in the video, I can say that don't pass Zurich when you're in Switzerland! For the time range, we visited Zurich at the end of the fall, but everything was perfect for us! I can't say anything about the restaurants because we did our shopping at the markets for dinner and breakfast! And we loved every product we bought! In short, we're totally on the same page with the video, and we recommend you to do so! Wish you all a perfect holiday and loads of thanks to the lovely people of Zurich!
I totally agree that one of the most enjoyable things to do is to pack a picnic with a bottle of wine to enjoy by the lake on a nice day. No need to go to an expensive restaurant.
Switzerland, everything is expensive but Experiencing the Amazing Nature and Environment is a must try and include it in your bucketlist to visit someday...❤😍
I'm visiting next month and I'm excited! I'm debating about getting a rental car as I would like the freedom to get around the country. I'm landing in Zurich and staying there for 4 days, but would love to drive to Geneva and sightsee for a day or two. Experience the city life as well as the nature surround the country!
I would only rent a car for the Geneva drive part. And after living here for awhile now I prob wouldn’t even do that. The trains here are not what I’ve experienced where I’m from and make it so easy
@@staguilar2242 I ended going the train/bus route which was honestly the smoothest experience I ever had with public transport. They got it figured out. I could live out there without a car. One less expensive I have to worry about lol
Zurich by car isn't fun, that's true. But public transport is affordable and with zurich card (some 60 CHF for 3 days) you can explore the town very well. Take a seat in a tramway and ride once the whole line, you will see so many faces of the city! And it doesnt matter are you taking the bus, the tramway or some of the boats, public transport is all in one ticket combined!
Greg u r right when u say the lake is the best place to be in summer. I lived in Zurich way back in the mid 80's , had some great times there. I was also there when as u mentioned the drug problems, unfortunately I did see a few things there. I hope to return one day and rediscover Zurich after all these years. Cheers from Australia
In Zurich you can buy a ticket for the whole Canton. It is valid for trains, busses, trams in the City and also for the boats on Lake Zurich. A daily pass after 9 o clock costs 26 chf for the whole region. On Lake Zurich during summer you can even make an excursion on one of 2 old paddle steamers Stadt Zurich of 1909 and Stadt Rapperswil of 1914. you can also take a paddle steamer with this pass.
I'm having a 6 hours connection in Zurich, landing at 11:25 am taking off at 5:25 pm on a Sunday in late June. I was thinking about Old Town. Any suggestions? PLEAAAAASE!!! :)
Hey Marcia, that‘s good amount of time! So first you take the train to Zürich HB. You can buy a ticket from a machine. Then you walk down Bahnhofstrasse to Paradeplatz, where you can look at some banks 😄 There is a patisserie store which is called Sprüngli. There you can buy Luxemburgerli (macarons), which are well known in Zürich. After that you head to Lindenhof, which is a viewpoint in the old town. You can walk there. You are in the old town now, which is a bit more posh. From Lindenhof you can see across the river to Niederdorf, which is the part of the old town which is not so posh. After Lindenhof you can go to Hotel Storchen and have a coffee by the river. Then you continue upstream to a church called Fraumünster. In there you will see beautiful church windows. After that you head to the lake by Bürkliplatz. There you can take some cool pictures too. After that you head to Sternen Grill at Bellevue. You buy a Bratwurst and you don‘t forget to take the bread and spicy mustard. I suggest you buy a can of beer too. You can buy it at the grill or head to Coop next door and buy it there. If you are there you can also get some Swiss chocolate. You can take the sausage to the lake and eat/ drink there and enjoy the time with a traditional Zurich meal. After that you can take a tram back to the Zürich HB station where you arrived at and take your train back to the airport. This is my suggestion and should take about 4 hrs. Zürich Airport is efficient and if you download their app, you can check the waiting times at security. The train to and from Zurich takes about 15 minutes and runs frequently. I hope this helps, let me know if you have more questions 😊
@@SwitzerlandInsider Oh my goodness, this is awesome!!!! Thank you so much for the amazing ideas in such details, I REALLY, REALLY appreciate it. I can't wait to explore Zurich, even if just for 4 hours.

Good content thanks for the tips. We will be there in end of August arriving on a Sunday night in Zurich. Can you suggest what we can do on the 2 full days (Monday and Tuesday) we have in switzerland and mountain activities we can do? Should we stay in Lucerne or other area as our home base? On our 3rd day we plan to take the Bernina Expresss to go to Italy
Hey, as a Swiss I‘d recommend Lucerne as a base! The old town of Lucerne is really nice. From Lucerne you can make nice day-roundtrips (using boat, cogwheel or cable railways) to Mt Pilatus or Mt Rigi, which both offer stunning views. There’s no need to book these excursions in advance, so you can decide according to weather conditions. The Bernina Express is an excellent choice, I‘m sure you‘ll love it!
All of the Greg's videos seem to be super helpful. Will be sure to use them soon as i am coming over in a few days. Although I am looking for a tip on where to find trees in Zurich. Can anyone help out?
