i remember what a huge deal pso was when it came out on the dreamcast. the idea of going online and playing with other people was so futuristic at the time. sadly for me i could only see it in magazines. never had a DC
Quite a lot of the Section IDs get them as drops (some rare monsters in ep4, but often Satellite Lizards and Yowies can drop them in Ultimate too, depending on your ID). On Ephinea, during the Xmas event you'll also get present drops that can sometimes have Photon Crystals in them too.

I missed Dreamcast myself, so I didn't start PSO until GameCube. Absolutely revolutionary game at the time!
