      Dylan, it's was great chatting and thanks for sharing. Yeah, I have a habit of just taking this show where none of us know where it goes. Thanks for playing along, God Bless, Tony.

    Agreed once you try 15” hats the 14” ones seem so tiny! lol
    Those Red cymbals sound great definitely gotta get these across the pond to the US.

    • @KillerDrumsTV
      @KillerDrumsTV  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah those Red cymbals sound beautiful, very musical and as Jackie often says "buttery" under the stick and feel.
      We might buy a set for the killerdrums show, we have a worship drums episode coming up and they are a great match for houses of worship for many reasons that I'll talk about then.
      Be awesome, Tony.

    Strangely, I prefer the sound of the 1950s vintage DANDY kit.
    We’re all different.
    Not only is Jackie a top drummer, he has an amazing knowledge of drums and cymbals.
    He’s a huge asset for Mooloolaba Music.

      When the time comes and both are in stock we will do exactly that. A battle to the death, two enter, but only one leaves - killerdrums.tv

    Very nice channel. Why does Jackie always have the larger rack tom on the left and smaller on the right? Just curious. Thanks.

    • @KillerDrumsTV
      @KillerDrumsTV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Paul. Thanks for your appreciation.
      Flipping toms are not a new thing.
      Players back in the 60's like Roy Haynes and Papa Jo Jones played switched toms.
      Jackie does it rarely because he prefers one up two down and likes the large Tom right in front of him, but sometimes a song requires an extra higher tom. So that is where it goes for him.
      I have had my toms flipped since the early 90's. After breaking my right hand, my kit was set up largely over to my left while it healed as I was on tour at the time. Playing this way with only one hand, I realised that I it opened up the left side of my kit as I was less boxed in and could still play everything you can with 123 set up, but more musical options came with split toms, more so as I play a left hand floor tom it just makes sense.
      As a drum teacher, flipping toms also breaks you out of playing that same tired old fill that all learning drummers play SSSS111122223333
      Try the flip and let me know how it goes for you.

      @@KillerDrumsTV Thanks. Great explanation. I'm just getting back into playing after a very long time off, so I have a lot of other stuff to relearn. I even missed when standard sizes went from 12 and 13 to 10 and 12.

    • @KillerDrumsTV
      @KillerDrumsTV  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I totally agee. I've gone back to 12/13 and ditched the 10's. My preference is 12/13 shallow toms (flipped) and deeper 15/16 floor toms (15 on the left) with very shallow kicks 22 the main (15" deep) and 24 or 26 (x12" deep) as a slave on my left.
      I like your thinking here Paul. You've got your head in the right space for greatness.
      Cheers Tony
