  • The old Koehring is working its way into the way back of the yard to get the tip and heel of its lattice boom out, also there are an additional shorter set of pull shovels stiff legs with the boom top that would be nice to have out as to curl the bucket in a little tighter. I am working on a better camera mount to allow for in cab videos w/o too much vibration and shaking...

I never thought I would see an old 205 machine working.. Koehring machines were built under licence in the UK under the name of NCK and I worked for the company as a service engineer from 1965 to 1974. I worked on almost every model from the 205 to the 1495 in all their variants. The 205 and 305 were often mounted on Truck chassis as 20ton and 30ton truck cranes in the days before hydraulics and telescopics.

Any common spots to keep an eye on?? or things that wear faster than others. The machine seems to built very stout, with the little work I have done one it you can tell is a quality product.

@@ArtBarn591 I can't remember any specific problem areas with the 205's Keeping them well greased in the tracks rollers was good, especially if they were travelled quite a lot. Other than that regular common sense maintenance would keep them in good order

That is only the heel and the toe of the boom, (25') I would love to find or make a 20' middle section for it

must be kinda frustrating not having stick out force or boom down force (other than gravity!) but you're getting by just like way back when.

You do know if you spent 3 full days sandblasting this Koering and repainting it AllisChalmers yellow, or international blood red you could have 100,000 followers on TH-cam as handy as you are with this machine. It runs more like a modern excavator than I would have thought. It will only do 1/2 the work of a medium sized Kubota excavator but that is still 1/2.

Thanks!, on the long term the goal is to capture the hobby: having a collection of old workhorses. Eventually I plan on cleaning it up all purdy like, but for now I have work for her building the facilities to move my hobby forward so work she shall do.
