I have been inside the dome(lotus). It's pretty amazing place, you'll feel like you are in a dream. There are multiple meditation rooms(petals of the lotus), each room signify different state of mind. There's a place beneath the dome where there is water flowing in circles, we sat around it and meditated before we entered the dome. Inside the dome they give you special socks to wear, you wear it and walk up a flat stairs, the floor is a fluffy carpet. Finally you reach a room with cushions to sit on and meditate. There is a small opening on the top of the dome, the light enters and the giant crystal refracts and it lightens up the entire room. You get nearly 20 mins to meditate.
There is a banyan tree near the dome which has some significance. After the tour inside the dome, we sat beneath the tree and meditated. It was a really good experience. I'm hoping to visit again.

I can't even put into words the connection I feel towards tree's, and Banyan trees have always been in my top 3 or 4 favorite. There are actually Banyan trees in Florida. My mom worked at Cypress Gardens in Central Florida back in the 70's and she said that she would take her lunch break beneath a giant Banyan tree that was in the Park. Further down in Florida there's a huge traffic circle where Hwy US.1 starts. There are I believe 7 giant Baobob trees, and each a different species, just like the trees from Madagascar that ate extremely wide the entire length up the tree. They have saved entire villages from droughts because the trees can hold thousands of gallons of water. The place where US1 started is in Hollywood Florida, and they try to say that these treees are only 60 years old, but you can see pictures of them already there. In India the story goes that during the churning of the ocesn of milk in order to get the amritum many other devine gifts were also churned up. One was a trees that resembles the Baobob
Therd are about 5 total across India, and they are worshiped and decorated beautifully. These are called gift giving trees because they were able to hrant your wish. Indra claimed the first one, but Shiva later manages to bring one down from Indralok. .These trees have flowers that have a long stem, and a heart shaped end, so Kamadev,(the Indian cupid basically) would use these as his magical arrows to make people fall in love. Later on while Shiva was in meditation the gods decided that Shiva needed to produce an offspring and figured the easy way was to get kamadev to hit him with a love arrow. So Kamadev comes upon Shiva and gets him in his sites, pulls back his arrow and releases it, to have lord Shiv block the arrow with his Trishul and burn Kamadev to a pile of ashes. I love this story, sorry if it was off topic, but Shiva killing cupid just seems great, because I think everyone has felt like that before. Kamadev was mostly fixed except his body couldn't be brought back. Back to the huge ancient trees, they are like living examples of the out of place artifacts. Sorry for the length, 🙏 take care.

Hey dakota, here's something u can say when u see a random person on the street or talk to someone (in tamil) instead of using hindi lol:
    Vanakam - Welcome
    Nan-dri - Thank you
An-na - Elder Brother (also used for older guys(respectful))
Ak-ka - Elder Sister (also used for older girls(respectful))
Thambi - Younger brother (call the kids u see on the street this and they will get excited trust me)
    Thangachi - Younger Sister
Im from Tamil Nadu but I moved to Canada like 5 years ago and I just finished high school, missing home big time, btw Pondicherry is also known for private beach parties and cheap alcohol.
    PS:
I feel like you'll really like Sivan temples cause I felt the best connection/vibe (more laid back but strong) there which u need to experience to understand. Brihadeeswara Temple
in Thanjavur (tamil nadu) and the Ekambareswarar Temple
in Kanchipuram (Tamil Nadu). But yeah have fun.

Arvind escaped the British government and took refuge in the French colony of Pondi. He made this ashram.
He believed that the next phase in human development can only happen when all humans are connected and aware of the truths.
He said that with meditation and liberal attitude we can transcend and become superhumans. With power to connect across the globe.
100 years later we are connected by internet.

I love Banyan trees too. We used to find them in our cities too in the 90's (atleast in Bangalore we did). As kids we used to climb them. The things protruding outta the tree are actually roots (Whaa??). Banyan tree is the only tree which has roots above ground. There's this huuuuge Banyan tree near Bangalore, which is believed to be 400yrs + old and it covers 3 acres.

We have similar trees to the Banyan trees in Australia called Figs, Strangler Fig trees are really cool
Their seeds, often bird-dispersed, germinate in crevices atop other trees. These seedlings grow their roots downward and envelop the host tree while also growing upward to reach into the sunlight zone above the canopy.
An original support tree can sometimes die, so that the strangler fig becomes a "columnar tree" with a hollow central core. (These are awesome to walk inside if you get to see them). However, it is also believed that the strangler fig can help the support tree survive storms.

cool to see this place now. I lived in Pondicherry for a year as a high schooler (17 year old white american) and it changed my life. that was 2010.
i will say that i don't find auroville to be the 'money free, no law society that they try to portray themselves as. lots of locals say that they are often shorted pay for lots of work there, the land itself was basically stolen from locals originally, they were told it was worth nothing, and being villagers without knowledge of real estate they just accepted like $10 for hundreds of acres. they're also pretty disconnected from true india. idk it seems idealist project that has a lot of flaws. they also do preach a very specific dogma.
none the less thats just my 2 cents and dude im jealous you're in Pondi these days. haven't been back since 2014 and i miss the shit out of indian street food.

    • @DannyKreder
      @DannyKreder 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

the 'no politics' thing is totally a lie too. they play a weird low-key role in a lot of local politics. they're a very wealthy community of europeans who want to avoid taxes and do drugs pretty much. very cultist and secretive. they rubbed myself and my friends the wrong way when we were there just livin in pondi trying to be a part of the actual indian community.

#funfact : for people who love to eat fish and drink: just 2 or 3 kilometers from Auroville there is Pondicherry University situated just near the beach. Every Saturday and Sunday at the University Beach(its just named that way, it's not related to the university, just because the beach is near to university its named in such a way) early morning when the fishermen comes back from the sea with their fishes. Their wives wait for them and the fishermen gives fresh alive fishes to their respective wives and you can go there choose the fish of your choice. They'll cut it in front of you and serve it right there at nearly half the rates of Pondicherry main town. Also there are 2 government authorized wine and beer shop: where you don't have to pay any taxes too. Beer is fu*king cheap there. One can get a few cans and just enjoy the beach view with hot fried fishes all day long.
**not on weekdays : just Sat & Sun.

Please explore what You Tuber Abhijit Chavda says about Gandhi and the Indian Revolution. I have been to India 3 times, but only Mumbai and Pune. I so agree with your comment about the women in India and their amazing garments. And that quote about plants. An old friend of mine, Indian woman, was into this Guru and showed me images of this place. Definately the most beautiful place I've ever seen in India. Glad you experienced it. I went out with a Bengali guy and he took his parents to Pondicherry for relaxation and vacation. He showed me photos and it did look really nice. I'm not a fan of India personally, or most Indians, after coping with their culture and being married to and sucked dry energetically by an Indian man. I love Santana Dharma/Hinduism still. But like any authentic spirituality, that can be an individual experience not dependent on intermediaries or rituals. I do have a pretty great collection of hindu images and murtis and they are gateways to the gods and goddesses and overall spiritual experience emanating from them.

I know it's about safety. And you are right. But don't know why the police also do not say anything. You can rent a normal scooter or a heavy bike just by submitting your any identity card. they will return it when you hand over the vehicle to them. They too don't provide a helmet. I think that's the main reason. As in general there are few locals who wear the helmet and may be it's a tourist destination and tourist love to explore places if they get a bike/scooter and the shops who provide these vehicles do not keep helmets for rent. If they kept it I think it would be much safer for all beings....
#funfact : for people who love to eat fish and drink: just 2 or 3 kilometers from Auroville there is Pondicherry University situated just near the beach. Every Saturday and Sunday early morning when the fishermen comes back from the sea with their fishes.

Auroville golden dome. I think it could be a portal and when you see the inside, there are videos, you think about a spaceship. So, indeed, very good insight when you sense about aliens. Multidimensional portal to me. 🌈

Hello Dakota,we do have banyan trees here in south florida.

  • @ZDarabos
    @ZDarabos 5 ปีที่แล้ว

Banyan trees are amazing, I love them too. They don't grow from the ground, the seeds are dropped on another tree by a monkey, bird or other animal, and they grow as epiphytes, releasing those strange roots to the ground. It slowly suffocates the host tree and become a fruit (fig) bearing tree, feeding monkeys and birds, so the cycle continues.
Banyan trees are called the "tree of gods".
