Also, I think you're right about the fact that Dimash's music gives us a lot of emotions and food for thought. Many of his songs are so captivating that when I listen to them I can't do it in the car or while doing something else, because I can't concentrate on what I'm doing.

I cried, when I saw it the first time, and still am deeply touched. This is, where the world is now, what is going on... and what we need to do, to understand... this is a deep spiritual and wise prayer for the world... again it is clear, who Dimash is.... a gift from God.

This was filmed in the beginning of the Pandemic. There is a lot of symbolism in this MV . The piano player falling into the river represents the two mentors and teachers that he lost to COVID-19. And that being tested makes you stronger. It’s all filmed in Kazakhstan. In the very last scene showing the green is to bring back hope. Thank you for your reaction to Dimash and stay safe

Greetings from Hungary! I've been watching his reactions for a while (I rarely get reactions because a lot of people only react to certain singers because of ratings, like Dimash) but I'm glad to see that you really like demanding music - so thanks in particular,,, (I've also seen amira's reactions, they're great) good luck and I'm still looking forward to such high-quality performances.

Spectacular performance , that guy can really sing and the images in the background are great too. I think it is music from Kazakhstan and the movie a part of their history.

The Kobyz or kylkobyz is an ancient Turkish string instrument, distributed among Kazakhs, Karakalpaks, Bashkirs and Tatars. The Kyrgyz variant is called the kyl-kyyak. The qobyz has two cords made of horsehair. The resonant cavity is usually covered with goatskin. Greetings from the Netherlands

Oh, you have not yet seen the 2020 Tokyo Jazz Festival performance of "Sama[ Tau". It is also absolutely riveting and goose bump inducing from the first note. Some of the animals you saw in this video, you will hear at the start of Samal Tau, recreated by the instruments.
The song is a Kazakh folk song. Here is the backstory of the song:
"In 1916, during the second year of Great War (World War I), the Russian Empire carried huge human and property losses. The burden of restocking was laid on subject nations. About 49 million hectares of fertile land were forcibly taken away during the war from Kazakhs. The owners were driven out into the barren wastes. Taxes increased form 3 to 15 times. For the needs of war, livestock and property were mass requisitioned. And finally it came to "requisition" of people. On 24th of June 1916, the Russian Tsar issued a decree that a half-million Central Asians, aged 19-43, were to be mobilised for army and labour brigades in the war effort. This decree was the spark for the Kazakh uprising, although the underlying reason was Russian colonisation and the usurpation of Kazakh lands.
"Samal Tau" tells about this sad events for young Kazakh in this difficult time.
The song is about young, about 28 year old recruit walking from Samal village to Omsk, as he was forced to register for the Russian military according to a decree predating the revolt by a few months. He was walking for 15 days and almost reached Omsk."
The song speaks to the beauty of his native land and the heartbreak of leaving everything and everyone he loves behind to fight and probably die in a war not his own.

Thank you for a very insightful and emotional reaction! I loved your excitement, it was great to listen and watch this masterpiece with someone who really can listen. In the beginning when you mentioned Dimash's range and high notes, I was a bit worried. Since some people only wait for those high notes and vocal tricks. And maybe are disappointed if they won't come. But, I was happy to notice, you did could enjoy his voice. Its sheer beauty is enough, and how emotional it sounds. Those breathy tones are so tender, like an embrace.
Important and powerful message to the whole world, yes. Like a prayer... This song was born for the anxiety and pain the composer felt when he read the news of covid deaths. Kazakstan was badly hit by it (and a severe phneumonia). Since the composer was in his studio, he went to the piano and started to play the melody he was given that moment. Dimash was also there, heard it and said that he wanted to sing it. And so the song began to born. They also shooted this video to the song. This is Dimash's directorial debut (with other director). The composer Renat Gaissin is the pianist in the video. The string instrument is Kazakh ancient kobyz, and the player is master of it. Everything from the first notes to the shooting of the mv seems to be very intensive creative process. It can be felt that they put their heart and soul in it. Indeed a spiritual work, a true masterpiece. My favorites from Dimash, too. :)

Glad you looked at this very powerful and moving performance, filmed during the pandemic (I think the term ‘holy land’ applies to the world as well as to Dimash’s homeland of Kazakhstan!)
Two mentors of his had died around the time this was made: Murat Irgaliyev, General Producer of the ‘Zhas Kanat’ republican contest - which Dimash won in 2012 - and Kenes Duisekeyev, composer and Dimash’s professor of composition at KAZNUI university.
I also find these comments (made on other reaction videos) interesting:
Nomad said, “According to legend, the Turkic Nations were descended from a wolf. She is the mother of all the Turks. The wolf is the totem of the Turks. Smart, strong, independent and noble, values his family and is loyal to it for the rest of his life.”
and by eshua levi: “We have a saying in Kazakh, ‘I will burn like a fire for my homeland’, which I guess Dimash tried to portray in this MV.”

The Kazakh were allways a suffering people through all he's historic centuries... If you look on the map, all those countries around Kazakhistan invaded their territory for several reasons... even the millennial "Silk Route" is crossing all those lands from China to the Saara till now... Those images are from a famous film retracting the Gengis Kan armies and epic fights against foreign invasions. Kazakhistan is the 9th biggest country in the world and rich in natural and mineral resources, because of that was explored and invaded deadly without any concern by the natives... till recently, were considered one of the poorest people in EuroAsia under the submission of one of USSR provinces... Even the nuclear tests were made in Kazakh territory... Endurance, survival and to battle against the adversity is in their DNA. Some of the poems Dimash uses in hes songs are from those writers, philosophers, and historic facts and events like the khzar, chinese, Turkish, invasions or the soviet submission.... Kazakhistan earn it's independence only in 1992, two years before Dimash's born.... You can find here on YT (through he's popularity) several videos about the raise of Kazakh Republic, evolution, diversity and modernity ... th-cam.com/video/40yEGpz6X0g/w-d-xo.html ...... Kazakh are mostly muslim but they "allow" all religions and languages on their so well advanced, multicultural, no racist civilized society and to proof so, recently they constructed in it's newest capital (it was Astana, now the name changed to Nuur Sultan) one of the most splendorous modern cities in the world, and one of the most splendorous buildings concentrating on it all the important governamental departments and at the center of it there's a magnificent giant space big enough were all religions have the right to celebrate all their religious festivities, biggest events, as well as all national & cultural, events, as a sign of global right to exist, manifesting and reunite all peoples on Earth.... In Kazakhistan its education and multicultural school and family training focuses on childhood, in its human and family values training base. Its basic and academic scholastic regime is totally oriented to give the child everything that is necessary for their formation, education and useful future in society once they leave for the world of work. That's why Dimash had access to everything that was necessary for his education and academic training from an early age, once their parents found out he had something to value and work on it... so they send him to the right professors who would "plant" on him those values and gifts and like him all Kazakhstan's children are the priority in society, guaranteeing the future of the nation and the preservation of its heritage... Dimash co-produced this video... it was he's first official one. Do not be misled by Dimash's apparent pacifism... because he also claims, denounces and demonstrates through his art and his actions what society, humanity, government or politics should be... An example of this is the "Golden" video, which has a corrupting public history behind it.... There's a lot of symbolism on this Qairam Elim song, sorrow, sadness and some revolt because of life, missing loved ones, death before time and also a lot of Dimash way of thinking, historic knoledge and publicly speak about he's citizen posture, patriotism, human wisdom and participation on the democratic growth of he's homeland.... here's an example of Kazakh futuristic power... th-cam.com/video/7tWCFRcfEH0/w-d-xo.html
