Thanx for the sneak peak, Albert! :D Caddx is going in the right direction with this camera, good for micros with tandem stacks, but it needs to be a single board so it can fit in a single-stack frame. Hope more of these come out, I want one! XD

@@vampcaff I was just referring to their split type camera, they told me next month it will be available. I'm interested to see how they are going to push low latency fpv feed with only one sensor. They are claiming some really low latency. We will see.
The footage looks pretty good. Need to see ability to change sharpness, saturation, contrast, brightness like on the Turtle. This is a good start though.
Is the heat sync electrically isolated? I will say that it is very impressive, but I hope the software/firmware is truly out of beta testing phase once it ships. What a great step for FPV. Caddx is proving to be quite the innovator.
Finally watched this. Looks like a good idea, but the narrow fov and maybe the bad scaling on non 4K are downsides. Not sure if I like the WiFi approach. Don’t like to have an app for each cam. Somehow I like the Runcam approach with confit file on the sad card - but I think that’s only for nerds :)
I purchased the Tarsier. I have 2 Acrobrats. One now has a split mini and the other the Tarsier. The image of the Tarsier is very nice. The FOV horizontally and vertically is not desirable for FPV HD footage (I think it looks absolutely terrible to be honest). It feels zoomed in. I feel like I am watching myself flying in a small area, claustrophobic like, when I play back the video. It is comparable to using a DJI Mavic camera, but flying FPV. Currently I would rather use a split mini, just because of the FOV. Albert does talk about the FOV in this video, but you need to see it first hand in your own videos to really get a feel for it. And if you if you dare to put a new HD lens on, which should be proper in the first place and you use the ND filter from Caddx (awesome!) it will most certainly be visible in your footage, as I saw it in the wider FOV FPV camera in my goggles. The FPV camera is so nice! Why do you do this to us Caddx?
I think this will be a game changer when any of this cameras record RAW format. Looks like a good choice for the price anyways. Also why FPV flyers don t use just one cam, i mean Gopro with direct feed to de VTX? is lighter, better quality and also real world of what your frame is ...
GoPros are heavy, the 8 is reduced in weight ( 7 was something around 250g+ with a battery and sd card ) , this board and cameras weigh in at 25g . Would be great to have GoPro stabilisation I agree. Dont get me wrong, i would be interested in your idea , esp for flying an RC wing or something that can handle 250g. If it was available i would probably buy it, just not for a drone.

Im actually excited for this camera...if it has better FPV feed better than the Caddx Turtle 2?..Then thats a win out of the box..and just think that Runcam will probably make a competitor to this😀 Thanks for your time on this review Albert...awesome!;)
Thanks, I think it looks good. I might wait till they come out with the V2 with a single board. (seems to always happen just after I buy the double board version)
@ken smith "4k can not make one single board...." yet. ;) Same with double sensors: give them 6 months and either Caddex or another company will figure out how to grab the FPV feed from the 4K sensor. Just a matter of time.
The only issue I notice is the vibration, but that can be easily fixed with a good soft mount. Image looks great both in hd and DVR. This could truly change the industry!
Viewing angle feels pretty natural to be honest and the colours and general look and feel are quite crisp. No gopro but truthfully i like this better with your flying style. Audio’s okay as well :)
WOW.. Finally some true innovation in the fpv camera department by the looks of things. This is exiting news. The footage looks great, some colors somewhat over saturated, but that wouldn't be a problem for me. If the price remains reasonable this cam will go straight to no.1 on my to buy list. Thanks for the upload!
Pretty amazing footage, Albert! For me it's more than enough! 😃 The only criticism I have is that the mic needs a bit of protection from the wind. A bit of foam, the same used in headphones, should fix it. 😊
as somebody who runs a runcam split 2 along with the eagle micro i'm xcited to see a 4k camera, not sure about this format of 2 in 1 but i may be buying one. i was always happy with the split fpv feed, the eagle was just a 16-9 version of a split to me. i did wish for a slightly wider fov and the 2s has it but its slightly more distorted for not much extra fov. so, good job caddx this has a lot of potential.
I'm surprised with the image quality. I wasn't expecting it to be that good. I wonder who is going to be the first to make the 4K whoop. Another great review by the way. Cheers!
Great info on that camera! Thanks for posting this. Finally a split-type camera that is an improvement over all the others. For its size and weight the footage looks amazing for the HD and the FPV looks really good too. I'm sold! I'm sure I can get this into a 2"
Wow, this is impressive. I've been waiting to see a successor to the Session 5 and while this ain't that ... the image quality, the colors and the data rate are all really STRONG. I would not be surprised to see this become a super popular camera, esp as builds are getting smaller.
I've held off getting either the turtle or the split hoping this would be a solid product. The footage seems decent enough to continue to hold out. If it's shortcomings are fixed when it's released I'll be happy I held out.
Thanks for posting this. I completely agree with your comments about the hardware. As far as the firmware is concerned, they really do need to include the items you mentioned, especially saturation (I thought that the colors in the flight footage were a bit washed out) and the ability to adjust the shutter speed. It really does look amazing in 4K.
I personally consider that the video down link is way better than the 4K recording, I mean with out a large amount of editing the video is way to dark for me, but the FPV video is awesome and the dynamic balance is out of this world! I will seriously consider to put the money on it! also will be nice if you consider to do some night flying to see the quality of the ISO in dark conditions. Thank you very much! really appreciated your hard work.
I'm excited, Albert. I'm disappointed with my Turtle footage more often than I'm not. I "have" to run the Turtle at 60 FPS, and I prefer my HD footage with the extra blur of 30 FPS. I miss SuperView. And every once in a while, I really wish I had my Runcam Eagle Micro, because I just can't see well enough. I didn't expect the Tarsier to be a GoPro killer, but I feel like all these small improvements will add up to something that I won't have many serious complaints about.
I was, " yet another wannabee 4K compressed to horribleness"...then I switched youtube to 4K...and what a difference. For the 20G all-in weight (vs 80 + for Gopros and other good 4K cameras) this is a gamechanger, allowing cine-quality footage on much smaller craft, both drones and fixed wing.
That's actually really good. Wind noise sucks, but they'll fix that. I'm going to wait for the version 2, because they'll totally add a working Superview.
Woooah that's sick duude. How many centimeters does the edge to edge of the camera lens btw? Like 1.7cm? And how thick the whole boards is? I'm thinking to put into diatone gt 239 but wondering if it will fits well
very promising. I will wait until we hear about its reliability. So many of these HD split cams have been trouble until evolved a couple generations. I REALLY love the idea of a built in analog camera. Already I have added an analog 2nd camera to my IH3 with RuncamSplitmini because the live out is utterly disgusting.
I'm definitely ordering one, to mount on/in my helmet,, actually two, for front and rear,... Very nicely done,so tiny and perfect for motorcycle rider's...
That's it, I'm definitely going to use this in a 3 inch build using some dual stack frame. This is an amazingly innovative product! I guess GoPros still produce better videos in some ways, but I'd never use that instead of this Tarsier. Thanks for the review, Albert!
I'm sorry if you actually say it in the video, but what's the total height of the boards? It isn't shown on Caddx' own product specifications either - regarding the board, they only specify that it's a 20x20 screw configuration.
Looks like some of those components are too close to the mounting holes which could cause an issue with clearance when tightening the nylon nuts. I'll wait for further info before making a judgement
I really hope this is the beginning of the end of gopros strapped to our quads, I hate the flight performance changes when I do, so for now I have been sharing my dvr, death to go pro !
Yeah I know what you mean about the weight. Not to mention the price... I mean... Its TH-cam. And lets face it as someone said recently... Does anyone "really watch" videos put up now adays (watch 10 second skip ahead watch another 20 then on to the next video)
Do you use an "American Built" smartphone? Which maker/model is it, and what are it's best features, and any shortcomings? If I gave you $250, which smartphone would you buy?

Hi Albert ! I have been watching your Channel for the last couple of months and I enjoy your fair reviews . I noticed on this review at about minute 1:41 you said that the top Camera is in a 4:3 format and the bottom one is in a 16:9 but I paused the video at that minute and the image on the video shows both the sensors and the whole camera system is upside down ( watch the wiring coming out of the 4K Camera is now on the bottom of the assembly ). So I believe if I am correct the sensors were incorrectly described by you in this instance. The top one (4K HD Camera) is in 16:9 and the bottom one (FPV Camera ) is in a 4:3 format. I am interested in this Camera and was going back to look at some reviews and noticed it.
Hi again ! I am sorry I wrote that there was a mistake in describing both Camera sensors! I went back and YOU ARE CORRECT! I got confused as they were upside down and I made the mistake of identifying them incorrectly ! PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES !
I dont have a rattell yet Albert but if you swap the stock wifi antenna for a rxsr dipole antenna if the ipx size is the same then you can move the antenna away from the emf interference close to the boards just like a vtx you should in theory get much better range to control your cam settings. Lmk if you try it and it works.
Not bad, but I'll wait till I see some vids with image stabilization working. I like my jello chilled bro. Piece of foam over that mic would do wonders for wind noise. Thanks for the in-depth review!
It's very picky on the card to record to. It has to be U3 or better. I had to try a few different U3 cards before it found one it liked. I put links to the cards that worked for me. It won't record if the speed of the card is too slow.
image looks a bit too "blue" but other than that.. amazing quality. soo much better than the typical split cam quality. FOV of 4:3 stretched to 16:9 to get a superview effect would be nice to see too.
@@AlbertKimTV Hmmm.. wouldn't be the first cam with a back-mounted VTX indeed.. I was kinda hoping a mount for the recorder-boards.. but that's not the case...
I've been waiting for this one! They've been boasting that they're making ND filters for it, but they didn't send you any huh? Really curious if the filters can cut that jello out, and how it handles in low light / harsher conditions Thanks Albert, great job
The ND filters are not ready yet. They will send me some when ready and I will post new footage at that time so be sure your notifications are turned on.

@@AlbertKimTV yeh It looks like it could use an ND, think the shutter speed is way to high which is what is giving it that underexposed, undersaturated look. Keen to see a comparison if you get a chance with a good ND on it
Hiho Albert.. i'liked your overview. the only thing i missed, is a fast run on 4K 30fps and 2.7K 60 fps to compare the image quality when the quadcopter speeds up to 120km/h ... best regards, mike
Could make sense for small builds 3" or so. For larger builds I prefer a portable solution such as a Session since you can swap it to other drones and need only 1 or 2. I think work has to be done more into the technology of making smaller Session like cameras like the firefly 2 micro and improving those.
@albertkim great review thanks! I bought this about two months ago from amazon and unfortunately the connector plug doesn't fit the female socket when I try and put it in with the corresponding wires red blk yel grn in order of the solder pads it wont go in I think the plastic had a bad injection when being molded. I tried forcing it after getting frustrated and it split the top of the plastic open. I shared this pic with amazon but not sure what may come of it. but anyway I still have the pads so I guess no biggie but it would of been nice to use the plug and save time and convince of swapping to other units. On another note as I'll be using this on a 6s 7" rig I think ill mainly use the 1080p 90fps or maybe even 720p 120fps just to get some good smooth playback at higher speeds but I'm sure I'll mess around with 4k and 2.7k as well...
There are so many of us Acrobrat flyers who have been highly anticipating the Tarsier. It is SO disappointing to hear that it will not fit in the Brat frame without modifying the side plates! Albert, do you think modifying the side plates would be a realistic mod? Or do you think that this camera just wouldn't realistically fit?
@@AlbertKimTV Thanks for your response and realistic assessment. What I like about the Acrobrat is the stable flight feel, due to larger size and stance compared to smaller 3" frames. Which 3" frame with these characteristics would you recommend, which the Tarsier would fit in?
The feed is great, but in my humble opinion the 4k looks choppy. The colors might be good and it feels sharp, but there is something about it that doesn't feel natural. @@AlbertKimTV Well, that's good enough for me. lol
Parrot disco stock camera is doing both FPV feed and HD recording... stabilized by the onboard computer while flying...

I LOVE DRONES & F.P.V.!!!!
👍😀👍
GREAT CHANNEL
Footage looks pretty fine indeed, very impressive package. The FOV is a bit of a bummer though, and why do some of those trees have blue leaves?
@@MattVileta there already is one look on uavfutures
Wooo the Tarsier! I think the footage looks good enough to consider pre-ordering:)
The only issue I notice is the vibration, but that can be easily fixed with a good soft mount. Image looks great both in hd and DVR. This could truly change the industry!
Wow, the fpv feed looks way better than I expected. The audio is much better as well. I'm impressed. They got it on the first try. 👌
Fuzzballs on the mics to cut down on wind noise and 16:9 HD and I would definitely get one. Very informative review. Thanks Albert.
I just add a bit of foam from the camera packaging and it works well. But definitely add something
Wow! Incredible. Definitely getting it. Thanks for the review Albert! Great as always
Thanks for watching!
I think overall the image and sound quality is rather impressive!
Been waiting on you for this
At last, great fpv feed, much better than turtle or split! Great review
I honestly am really impressed by that camera. It’s way better than what I was expecting to see
Wow it looks really nice.. this is a game changer.. now you can offset the GoPro with more battery. Nice review.
Pretty amazing footage, Albert! For me it's more than enough! 😃
The only criticism I have is that the mic needs a bit of protection from the wind.
Cheers!
I'm going to make this in a cinewhoop.
@@AlbertKimTV yas! please make a video about that!
Great info on that camera! Thanks for posting this. Finally a split-type camera that is an improvement over all the others. For its size and weight the footage looks amazing for the HD and the FPV looks really good too. I'm sold! I'm sure I can get this into a 2"
Impressive.this is a gamechanger!!
Thanks for the info, I just got the GEPRC baby croc with this set up and so far working out great
Nice 👍
Wow, this is impressive. I've been waiting to see a successor to the Session 5 and while this ain't that ... the image quality, the colors and the data rate are all really STRONG. I would not be surprised to see this become a super popular camera, esp as builds are getting smaller.
I've held off getting either the turtle or the split hoping this would be a solid product. The footage seems decent enough to continue to hold out.
If it's shortcomings are fixed when it's released I'll be happy I held out.
For me tied on the list with image quality is the durability... I have 3 non-working runcam splits sitting in a box that is making me question it.
Too pumped to throw this on my 3inch build
Thanks for posting this. I completely agree with your comments about the hardware. As far as the firmware is concerned, they really do need to include the items you mentioned, especially saturation (I thought that the colors in the flight footage were a bit washed out) and the ability to adjust the shutter speed. It really does look amazing in 4K.
That footage looks pretty damn sweet. Watched on my 4K TV and it’s perfect for what I want on a plane.
Looks good to me, all I need is for AirbladeUAV to have more 4in intrepids in stock and I'm ordering one of these.
Kiwi_Brendon it'll still look pretty different than a gopro because they have the superview technology patented
Very promising! Two questions, can it shoot in linear? And can it shoot in a flat profile? Thanks!
Those are not in the current firmware.
@@AlbertKimTV ok, thanks for the response. Still looking forward to it!
Very interesting application!
Wow just wow!
That's it, I'm definitely going to use this in a 3 inch build using some dual stack frame. This is an amazingly innovative product! I guess GoPros still produce better videos in some ways, but I'd never use that instead of this Tarsier. Thanks for the review, Albert!
wow would love this.great work albert
Impressive audio!
Not sure on the lense size for the 4K camera, but the footage looks pretty good.
Looks kinda scary haha
have you ever seen a tarsier? what an awesome critter and an apt name for a camera.
Only seen photos. Cool looking critter.
I'm sorry if you actually say it in the video, but what's the total height of the boards? It isn't shown on Caddx' own product specifications either - regarding the board, they only specify that it's a 20x20 screw configuration.
about 11mm in total height
@@AlbertKimTV Thanks a lot, man!
Thanks for the video! I checked everyday if there is a video out and I already knew your channel before 👌
Looks like some of those components are too close to the mounting holes which could cause an issue with clearance when tightening the nylon nuts.
Having less weight on the quad (no GoPro) has the disadvantage that the quad will shake easier and more in stronger winds.
a larger battery :)
Might get this for my future Long Range Build
I could watch you fly for hours. =)
"I don't use any Apple products at all"... Good man. No American should. Great video as always Albert. Been looking forward to this for an acrobrat.
Do you use an "American Built" smartphone? Which maker/model is it, and what are it's best features, and any shortcomings? If I gave you $250, which smartphone would you buy?
Why not?
Because it's my choice to spend my money where I want. I don't agree with their business practices, their limited capabilities, their ideologies or their closed system. If you want too support all that more power to you.
@@juggalizzle75 I don't have any Apple products. They are overpriced and limited. I was just asking.
@@brandonpurdy7658 it's all good. Birdwing98... Idk of an American built smartphone nor one for $250. At least a good one. Samsung builds quite few products here but I don't know about phones. Currently I run an LG v40. It runs android and has no short comings. Features are pretty much standard on all Android phones and it just boils down to specs. I don't want to get into the android vs iOS nonsense. I don't like them as a company and believe their products to be overpriced and inferior. I mean how many scandals, how much hipocracy and unamerican practices does it take to stop supporting a company? I left Apple when they became the corporate conglomerate they started out fighting. Around the time of the last iPod.
Amazing ...
i would like to see how the the result of the 4k video & FPV feed indoor and on the night under light
Please made 2nd test under those conditions, thanks!
I try to get some night footage next video.
That’s great! Color looks awesome in the recording!
No worries, you're not the first person to get that confused.
Looks like theres Jello using the M8 lenses...do you think enabling EIS would help? or you'll need an ND lens?
ND filters will be coming soon...
Very exciting times in our hobby! Great looking image.
Not bad, but I'll wait till I see some vids with image stabilization working. I like my jello chilled bro. Piece of foam over that mic would do wonders for wind noise. Thanks for the in-depth review!
How the hell do you get this thing to record? I hit the buttons and nothing. Tried different sd cards. Can you do a video on how to record?
It's very picky on the card to record to. It has to be U3 or better. I had to try a few different U3 cards before it found one it liked. I put links to the cards that worked for me. It won't record if the speed of the card is too slow.
Thx for the vid. Do you know thickness of the board please?
11mm for all the boards
Thx!
image looks a bit too "blue" but other than that.. amazing quality. soo much better than the typical split cam quality. FOV of 4:3 stretched to 16:9 to get a superview effect would be nice to see too.
I think they will be adding settings to adjust saturation and other things.
Excellent.. thanks for the video!
What are the mounting-things on the Back of the camera for??
the heatsink?
@@AlbertKimTV at the back of the camera case, there are a few clamp-things which look intended to "hold" something..
Actually, I have no idea about those... perhaps for a VTX?
@@AlbertKimTV Hmmm.. wouldn't be the first cam with a back-mounted VTX indeed.. I was kinda hoping a mount for the recorder-boards.. but that's not the case...
Hey, Albert, what's the height of the stack? Trying to plan fitment/stack options... 😃
I've been waiting for this one! They've been boasting that they're making ND filters for it, but they didn't send you any huh? Really curious if the filters can cut that jello out, and how it handles in low light / harsher conditions
Thanks Albert, great job
The ND filters are not ready yet. They will send me some when ready and I will post new footage at that time so be sure your notifications are turned on.
thanks for this video,,my question is how can we use this 4K video on its own without FPV just to record in 4K? thanks
The cameras are integrated so no way to separate them. You don't have to use the FPV camera if you don't want to, but it's a nice camera so not sure why you would want to do that.

Great video ,very informative, thanks Albert
I format the card in the camera board and also pull files off via USB. Just plug it in and it shows up as a drive on the PC.
It's nice but.... I think it need the Nd filter options and since a lot of people have there own preferences for an fpv feed camera I feel this woulb be better as a light standalone DVR. just my opinion
ND filters are coming soon. More videos on that later...
Looks a bit under exposed, but other wise quite sharp and clean, did you have an ND on it?
No ND filter. Those will be coming later.
A 108k views! Wow!!! This has to be one of your top 3 videos.
I'm pretty sure modding the frame will reduce it's strength. That frame was designed for single board split cameras.
Maybe it's the shutter speed and we can fix that with the ND filter. Please do an update video when you receive it. This one had almost 20k views in 2 days, so people might be interested :)
Thanks Albert

No. ND filters are not ready yet. That will come in a future video.

So it has EIS. Is it any good? I wonder if they can get rid of most of the jello? This has great potential.
