ABOUT US:
Hello! I’m Vivienne, the châtelaine of a small 19th century neo-Renaissance castle in the Loire Valley of France, which I share with my delightful husband, Simon, our daughter, and -whenever possible- lovely friends and family.
This is not our first chateau! 23 years ago, we bought a much larger castle nearby, which we loved with all our hearts. However, nearly 2 decades, many happy memories, countless renovations, and several small fortunes later, we made the very difficult, empty-nesting decision to downsize. With great luck and perseverance, we found our current petit château, which we are now decorating and updating with love, humour, comfort, and -of course- antiques and art!
We adore France and its many unique facets: its people, culture, landscapes, wine, food, art, and history. We also love being surrounded by châteaux, both public and private, which we can explore together! After 20 years here, we have learned many things about living in France, renovating châteaux, and appreciating the extraordinary riches surrounding us. We originally decided to make these videos as a way to share our lives with our loved ones worldwide during the pandemic lockdowns. However, we soon realised that many others are at home alone, and it is our privilege to open our home to you, our new friends. We hope you will join us on our adventures in this exceptional location, and we look forward to sharing a little Château Love!

You are doing a beautiful job on the mural.
Darling, I absolutely love and adore the mural work. Fantastic and a joy to watch ❤❤❤. You are an amazing artist. Looking forward to clotted cream first and a scone here. Love you all 😊❤😊
Aww…thank you! Coming from such incredible artists as you both, that’s high praise. Can’t wait to see you soon!! 🥰🏰💖
What a fun time. Thanks for sharing and tell Ashley her singing is so cool and refreshing.
Just told her as she is right next to me and she says “thank you so much”! 🏰💖
Your daughter is so sweet!
Your painting is truly wonderful
Thank you, sweet Margaret! I was thinking of you just the other day. Your lovely letter is looking at me in my office! 🥰💖🏰
Thank you for another enjoyable video.
Looking forward to your next video.
Scone rhyme with Stone and definitely Jam first ( most of my Family live in Cornwall)xx
Beautiful! Enjoy watching your beautiful life in France!❤
Vivienne, thr mural wow!! You are an amazingly talented artist.
Great video and such darling people ❤
Well it’s scones for me and always jam first and then some freshly whipped cream and then for some savoury scones it could be finely chopped bacon and cheese or a little onion.🇦🇺🙋♀️
You’re an amazing artist!!! Be proud!! Love your channel.
Lots of love from Michigan ❤
Who is the chello musician?
My uncle played the chello with the NY philharmonic orchestra, hearing this almost brought me to tears it is beautiful. I can either get goose bumps or cry when music touches my heart.
Or is it a viola
The mural will be lovely
Fun times😊
il y a beaucoup de talents dans cette famille
💖💖💖
Absolutely adorable with all of you together! Loved it!!! 🥰👍
your creativity is simply wonderful .. making all things possible 🥰
What a fantastic job on that mural! Well done
Goodness, I didn't realise the extent of your TALENT! I mean knew that you are a creative, just not the extent, as mentioned.
About the Scone. I'd say depending on where in the country, UK, you are they will tell you to put either the clotted cream first OR the jam! I really liked the option of a thin layer of clotted cream then jam and a dollop of clotted cream on top!
💖💖💖
Vivienne, you are so talented! The mural is looking so beautiful. Was wondering what was happening with that project, and wow worth the wait. Will be nice to see it when finished ❤ Isabella, you are very talented as well. The sweaters you made are beautiful in the granny stitch.
Thank you, Donna! 🥰🏰💖
You have more talent in your pinky finger than I will ever have. I am in awe.
Thank you but I’m sure you have many talents! 🥰🏰💖
Jack is is wonderful
What a talent 🌸🌟💖
“The Sicilianne” Gabriel Fauré composer and one of my favorites like “Pavane”.
Love love Isabell’s bedroom. Gorgeous 🌼💘💝🫠
Love this video! Art, music, fascinating food, beautiful walk in vineyards. Such talent all in one place!❤😊
Dreaming of a Chateau also paints her murals. Stunning.
I love the retro crochet jacket but have you been able to clone Simon yet ? Love chateau love
Apparently, there are online classes where one can learn how to crochet his/her very own Simon. Prone to snagging and wash with care, but stylish and comfortable. 😉😁🏰💖
Thanks I love your vlog
Such a talented artist you are, Vivian. Beautiful!
Jam then clotted if you’re from Cornwall, cream then jam if you’re from Devon. I say scone (own).
Definitely jam first help stick the cream on the scone 😂
Did I mention this before? Anytime I see a pull chain I think of the modern toilet’s inventor, Mr. Thomas Crapper. Yes, that was his name.
Absolutely love the mural work. It would be great if you could talk about how you built up the monochromatic colour, where the inspiration came from, anything to do do with the painting.
I say scone , butter, jam ,and clotted cream lol 🤗
Jam then cream 🇬🇧❤️🇺🇸
If clotted cream tastes like whipped sweet butter ( which I'm going to try and make myself) a company stopped selling it.Arr... it would be first so it melts then the jam
Many stencils were cut from a wonderful product called architect linen. A Belgian product, but alas if only it was still in production, as I believe it is no longer available. This mechanism would be a fabulous thing for theorem stencils.
Brazilian music love it
Oh my gosh I thought all these years that troglodyte was a made up word, from the movie the time machine. Lol take us exploring some day
mindblowing work
Jam first then cream I’m a Yorkshire lass from Harrogate but my Husband who is a Dorset man is from Blandford has cream first then jam 😂😁
Great start
And now your sister singing Carlos Jobim, Water to Drink. Perfection equal to the talent revealing itself on the walls.
You are so kind. 🏰💖
I have found for clouds a flat bristle tipped brush and stipple application really gives great cloud effects in addition to the swirls.....I use a dry brush effect...
I’m not done yet so I’ll definitely try that! 🏰💖
Here in Australia we put butter/margarine first then jam with clotted cream last. Enjoy your channel Vivienne, 🐨 🐨 from Downunder.
Oh my…butter then jam then clotted cream? I didn’t think scones could be any more decadent!! How wonderful! 🥰🏰💖
I always enjoy your vlogs because they entertain but are also thoughtful in your selections to broadcast. Today’s was exquisite on so many layers: two other vloggers whom I love were highlighted, the vineyards, your interaction with your daughter and friends to die for! Your art is always a highlight as well as your unique jewelry finds. Thanks for taking us along. A plus was Tania’s cooking!
Thank you so much!! 🥰🏰💖
Oooh! I love every single thing in your vlog today. So much good energy! Love the crochet and your sister's blouse. Johnny Was? Sage is my favorite color. Can't wait to see the final reveal of the bathroom. Love the mix of classical and your sister's jazz. I'm a near vegan and also a sucker for beautiful cauliflower. Thanks for showing how wonderful veggies can be. I'm anemic and will be spending some time dealing with no longer needed organs soon. Thanks for sharing all the lovely vibes, family, friends, art, food and animal friends.
Thank you for your sweet message. Sending you lots of love and hang in there. I too lost a lot of no-longer-needed-organs over the last few years and definitely felt better as a result. Keep up your good spirits. You’ve got this! 🥰🏰💖
In australia it’s a scon…..and it’s always jam first and cream second…which actually makes the most sense..spread jam and add a dollop……lol we do savoury ie pumpkin…and regular with the jam
And whipped cream right?
Fabulous vlog thank you Vivienne and Co! Always cream first, on scones that are warm, then jam, controversially in our family it's whole cherry jam rather than strawberry, but must be home made and the cream should be clotted, not whipped cream 💗💗💗
Whole cherry jam is my all-time favourite!! 🥰🥰🏰💖
Having worked in some of the great English houses, scone is never pronounced as schone. How one serves one's scone, with either jam or cream first, depends on whether one follows the Devon or Cornwall Rule. Elsewhere, and according to the rules of British etiquette, it simply does not matter. If it helps, the British royal family do jam first, because they are not savages.
Your last line gave me a big chuckle…I’m going to use that one! 😂🥰🏰💖
Why do you think there are so many caves? Dating back to the Romans or the french revolution?
The caves in the Loire Valley actually date back to prehistoric times when they were inhabited. Through the Roman and medieval eras they were expanded and mostly used to harvest the tuffeau stone of the area, but still often inhabited. By the Renaissance they began to be used for wine storage. In the 18th and 19th centuries they became symbols of wealth and status not only for wine but sometimes also as more elaborate dwellings. Some of the chateaux in our region are even built into the hillsides with the caves attached! 🏰💖
Love your crochet short shirt. The lady that did the crochet, needs to put her information on here.
That was my daughter, Isabella! 😁😁🥰🏰💖
I did a mural , I used a screen projector and traced image on to the wall.
Great idea!! 🏰💖
💖💖💖I just love you and your home and all your lovely family and work. Have you shown us your Paris place? I would love to see it. I would love to move there.
Notes on the keyring. Seems a little too close to chateau de La Landes tag line. It Might be better to think again on that one. Also I’m sure you can come up with something more interesting/creative/beautiful.
Don’t worry! It was meant to be a joke. Jack was definitely winding me up! I agree with you completely. 😂😁🏰💖
