This story mode was truly… almost perfect. It’s *this* close to being an instant 10/10 on its own, but there’s one huge problem.
It eventually ends 😭
Brother, don't be sad because the memories are gone, be happy they happened. Plus, this has a lot of replay value
You're forgetting *that* section riiight before the final boss.
Other than those two missteps, this was a great Mode from this game.

I remember this track when I fight Enemies with Pit and Mario in the Subspace Story Mode :D This Theme somehow fits Pit in my opinion perfectly

SNAKE: Otacon, there’s a guy walking around in here...and he’s only got two dimensions!
OTOCON: That’s Mr. Game & Watch. He comes from a world where everything is flat. Game & Watch was a series of portable games released by Nintendo in 1980. They were powered by large-scale integrated circuits in only had monochrome LCD displays, so characters kind of looked like the numbers on a calculator. The guy you’re looking at now, Mr. Game & Watch, was a character who appeared in these games.
SNAKE: This is making my head hurt.
OTACON: Well, um... He’s... I mean... Look, just start fighting him, and I’m sure everything will make sense.
SNAKE: ...

This song just encapsulates Subspace Emissary. Characters from different franchises journeying through vast landscapes, working to take down something greater than even themselves, a villain working from the shadows
And yet, has the chains of 'light'
The most underrated song in the entire SSBB soundtrack. Srsly this song is so forgotten that I can't even find a MIDI file for it or any other versions of it in any way outside of the original. Hell, this song isn't usable on any stages in SSBU! This makes me so sad because this song slaps.

Been playing Subspace with a friend recently, it's been really fun to play through it again. The story is still amazing after all these years
You’re right,even than the story is kinda cliche,is steal awsome to see all those video game characters in one grand story.
The story might be considered cliché, but I think what sets it apart is execution. Unlike similar storylines, this manages to be engaging while still having the gameplay to go with it.
God I love the partnering made in Brawl, the teams feel unique and felt every character that was paired with another

0:50 best part! I played this song all the time beginning of my senior year HS because the summer before my brother and I replayed Subspace Emissary and this song got stuck in my head 😂

What’s cool is that every Smash game does this. All the main themes are spin offs of THE main theme.

I remember this level: the one where you need to play Pit or you're dead.
To me this is the theme of the stage with the Fire Emblem characters and those dang Roadsters.
I don't believe that theme plays with them. I think it's "With Mila's divine protection".
@@mill2712 That's at the castle. I'm thinking about the part after where you're in the canyon and stuff. I think you still have the Fire Emblem characters and Meta Knight at that point.

World of light was nothing like Subspace Emissary, it doesnt even compare. This was character interaction and development. And that was largely missing from smash bros 4 and Ultimate.

I wish sonic was in the story mode more I can actually see him plowing through all those enemies
He is in the story mode, but you only unlock him just before you fight the final boss.

He would have been in the story mode sooner but Nintendo didnt get the rights to use him so until the later phase of the games development

Okay, this story mode was legendary. But can we all agree that the side scrolling levels was the weakest part?
This level is one where you need Pit to get 100% in it because only his up special can reliably reach a secret room.

I could care less about story in a fighting game, I just want more platforming stages where you can run through as any character and beat up enemies. They killed it in brawl and just imagine it now with the better controls and graphics, such a shame that wol was essentially a board game
Nintendo needs to do another Subspace Emissary type story for the next Smash Bros
