Dont get me wrong I would've preferred a story mode like this a lot more since this was easily the best part of Brawl but Ultimate was not a rushed game by any stretch of the imagination and it is a quality, finished, 60 dollar worth game. Subspace is one of the main reasons why Brawl is one of my favorite video games of all time. The cutscenes are so beautifully animated, you can sense what the characters are saying. I just love how mature the characters look.
Yes. That and the soundtrack. It was really intense, especially if you compare Final Destination with the tracks from Smash 4 and Ultimate. The game really took a mature approach to the series and I love it

You know whats funny though. Everyone was aware of what was going on exept Yoshi. Every cutscene he was in he looked high. I mean Yoshi, woke up saw Link said whats up and just followed him. For no reason. Thats true dedication fighting so you can go back to sleep

@@hello-kx8gx Yet in other games he is potentially a very difficult boss or really annoying. I think the hardest Bowser Boss I ever played was Paper Mario and the Thousand Year door. He shows up right after you take down the main baddy of the game and since he was super hard to deal with you're literally softened up for Bowser to just steamroll ya. I died so many times to him more than the final boss against the Queen of Darkness.
I definitely understand why people praise this game's story so much, it's absolutely amazing! The personalities, interactions, side-quests and plot twists were all great! I do understand why they no longer invest so much in the story since it'd be hard to do now that there are so much more characters. For an all-out battle type game like Smash Bros, the story isn't usually the main thing to begin with. But I would be a fool not to give Brawl the credit it deserves. Big thank you to everyone who recommended this to me!
Ultimate had a better animation with its awesome CGI, and dialogues, yet it's less good than Subspace because of its way to present the story like a simple classic mode and not a story mode.

I personally enjoyed where they ALL teamed up together. But, what taken my heart was when Lucas went on even when Ness was missing. They all teamed up to take down one guy.
The reason why I love this game so much is not just the fun and amazing story mode, it’s the grittyness of it, the animation had this violent like aura to it, and the tension in each cutscene, it’s hard to explain but some people get what I mean by when I say these things about this game, there’s more I want to say, but I don’t want a essay. This game tops smash ultimate.
I totally get what you mean. The overall feel of this storyline is dark… the graphics have a dark gritty tone compared to the cutscenes in WOL and I partially think that’s due to the graphic quality of the time… but it made for an amazing adventure with some hidden sinister tones.
@@jaygreene3070 Uh... The cutscenes in WoL are in CGI... and they're very nice. The animation is better because it's CGI. The grittyness and violence in the trailers (like the ones from Sm4sh) are clearly present. I know Subspace Emissary is better than WoL, but don't overdo it either. Ultimate's storyline is dark too, even more than Subspace Emissary (all characters imprisoned and spirits enslaved by 2 deities opposed by light and darkness), it's just its way to present the story which is problematic. If there were more cutscenes and presented like the Subspace Emissary did, it would be easily better.
The funny thing is, the lack of cage escape is actually completely consistent with how Zelda's up B works in gameplay. SSB gameplay that is, not LoZ's.
After watching the mario movie and then imagining the future of Nintendo movies, I can confidently say a smash bros movie based around the subspace emissary story in brawl would be a dream come true hands down!
Here’s what I love about Subspace. All of our favorite Nintendo characters uniting to fight the big fight but mostly how characters interact. Lucas goes from being a scaredy-cat to developing and becoming more brave. He showed absolutely no fear when him and the trainer were about to fight Galleom. He would be scared out of his mind if he was back at the zoo. Lucas misses his friend Ness but realizes he must stick with the trainer to save him and after Meta Knight saves them both, (another awesome moment) Lucas shakes his hand. Another one is Diddy working with the Star Fox pilots to save his uncle DK. I love the team up of Samus and Pikachu. As well as the two captains of Olimar and Falcon. Lucario lifting Snake’s box is always a classic. Snake’s reaction to Game & Watches, lol. Mr. Game & Watch, a 2D man holding a 3D umbrella object in its 2D hand like WHAT? Haha. Ike being the only person to actually stop a Subspace Bomb. Luigi interacting with Waddle Dees. And I love how the story never reveals what Bowser does to everyone he turns into trophies. It’s just self-explanatory. Every character he turns into a trophy, he likes to lock up somewhere for no reason lol. I guess all Subspace worlds are linked together since Luigi, Dedede and Ness all woke up and immediately freed everybody. Same thing with Wario being freed by Kirby. Also gotta love King Dedede petting Kirby. Zelda and Link, freeing Ganon for the fight against Tabuu, a teamup we never thought was possible. The classic group of 5. Mario, Link, Pit, Kirby and Yoshi. The 2 on 2 battle during The Lake Shore level was just so epic (I feel like this team was a little weak however, since they let Bowser get away, couldn’t stop Dedede themselves, didn’t even revive Ness and Luigi when they had the chance (despite 1. them being the necessary plot points to save everyone from Tabuu and 2. covered in rubble, but they weren’t covered in rubble during the cutscene of their revival) and they also couldn’t stop the ancient minister from dropping another subspace bomb, but it’s okay) I also love how R.O.B., a newcomer in brawl technically isn’t a living game character since he originated as toy. But the Subspace Emissary feels like it gave R.O.B. his own origin story and actually gave life to the character. The ancient minister revealed to be R.O.B. was just awesome. Idk if I’m the only one that caught this but why is it that the two Mario Bros Plumbers are the ones to get launched into the sky and turn into a star and then trophy? First Mario at the Midair Stadium and then Luigi by king Dedede. I also like the touch of character introductions making a certain sound for when it’s a normal good guy and a villain. Zero Suit Samus was the only one with a unique sound for her intro and idk why or what the case with that is. And of course, I love two of Sakurai’s characters being the heroes with Dedede’s badges feeding Ness and Luigi and Kirby himself too to free more people. He also destroyed the Subspace gunship. And of course, a Sega character saving everyone from Tabuu
@@calibribody6776 my favorite part was how Olimar dodged those shots (you can see him doing it) then his little shuttle could barely get through the wormhole. 🤣
I also just wanted to say that, the cutscenes with Lucas are just sad af. I truly remember watching them as a kid, still not knowing who the heck he or Ness was, but knowing more of his backstory now and just knowing too that he is just a scared kid in this situation, just makes things a bit more sad for me, but i also do love how through the story, he clearly grows more and more, driving himself to find Wario so he can bring back the friend that helped him when he needed help the most
Low key, Kirby seems to be the main hero/ lucky hero in the whole storyline. Ultimate he outruns the light, brawl he gets dededes timed release badge thingy as well as saves the princess you picked from ending up like wario AND he takes out the main cannon on the dark ship with a single flyby.... or through... Kirby is an insatiable god of destructive power.... and cuddles
I think it was because Lucario challenged Meta Knight to a friendly duel, unlike the rest of the story where characters actually had beef with each other for various reasons
If they ever do a Smash cinematic universe i would love they do an adaptation of the Subspace Emissary, everything here was just perfect, the characters interactions, the lore, the villian, the cameos, the darker tone of everything, damn this was so epic
Despite all the newly released Smash games, Brawl still remains my favorite in this series. The graphics are awesome and realistic-looking and we also got this epic story mode.
Same. And its simply because of the awesome Soundtrack Brawl has and the story mode. I dont care how "bad" the meta of this game was - everything else was just so great
The art style and graphics were really good for its time, and this is still one of my favorite story modes ever, it’s just a pity the actual game itself wasn’t great, fighting was too slow.
The amount of money I would pay for them to make a continuation or another story like like this is unexplainable. My childhood. :( I cried so hard watching this again.

43:05 this moment will always give me goosebumps. How Meta Knight sacrifices his beloved Halberd, which he spent almost the entire game trying to reconquer, is so cool. And it also shows how good of a pilot Olimar is. He’s able to keep up with Samus’ Gunship, Captain Falcon in the Falcon Flyer and Falco in an Arwing AND able to outmanoeuvre the canons, and he is flying a Hocotate Freight Steam Ship. I’m not very familiar with Pikmin lore, but I can’t imagine in any lore freightships being fast and agile. Still, he actually manages. That’s impressive.
It's actually suggested most of the time through almost all the Pikmin games that the Hocotate ships Olimar gets are usually total garbage, so yeah, pretty much.

Having said that I would easily pay $30 for a dlc story that is the same quality as Brawl's that can be played online, that would be fun af, but it would be unfair to say "iT sShuuLD hAVe bEenN iN tHe gAEm" because the game is already pretty good with a lot of content. Outside of the story ultimate is light years ahead of brawl in everything else.

The game has some dark tone and graphics. It was so cool seeing Characters like Mario, Link and Sonic In a darker color and gameplay.

@@kawee1 Lol it's revenge for Mario always throwing him in pits.

I truly remember watching them as a kid, still not knowing who the heck he or Ness was, but knowing more of his backstory now and just knowing too that he is just a scared kid in this situation, just makes things a bit more sad for me, but i also do love how through the story, he clearly grows more and more, driving himself to find Wario so he can bring back the friend that helped him when he needed help the most
i ship them so hard
Low key, Kirby seems to be the main hero/ lucky hero in the whole storyline.
Ultimate he outruns the light, brawl he gets dededes timed release badge thingy as well as saves the princess you picked from ending up like wario AND he takes out the main cannon on the dark ship with a single flyby.... or through...
Kirby is an insatiable god of destructive power.... and cuddles
daniel puttre probably since the creator of smash also created kirby
daniel puttre Dont forget DeDeDe, without him everyone would be screwed

@@rengokuscrunchytwattreats3045 eh his role of the story was just asspull

mad respect
Mario shaking hands with Kirby after he lost taught me so much sportsmanship.
@@rosestrife1498 That's great to know :) that small things in stories can actually affect us
I think it was because Lucario challenged Meta Knight to a friendly duel, unlike the rest of the story where characters actually had beef with each other for various reasons

And lucario has wall hacks with his aura so he could actually check inside the box without lifting it

I love this so much, it’s literally perfect how the characters got there own personality
All of them have their reasons to arrive to this exact point 41:50
If they ever do a Smash cinematic universe i would love they do an adaptation of the Subspace Emissary, everything here was just perfect, the characters interactions, the lore, the villian, the cameos, the darker tone of everything, damn this was so epic
😊
Despite all the newly released Smash games, Brawl still remains my favorite in this series. The graphics are awesome and realistic-looking and we also got this epic story mode.
Same. And its simply because of the awesome Soundtrack Brawl has and the story mode. I dont care how "bad" the meta of this game was - everything else was just so great
The art style and graphics were really good for its time, and this is still one of my favorite story modes ever, it’s just a pity the actual game itself wasn’t great, fighting was too slow.
Wouldn't everyone be screwed if King Dedede wasn't there??
Yup
Yes he good boi
Yes and peach and Zelda might still be evil or something
And probably would stay evil
Nope there's still Sonic
Guys there is dialogue, captain falcon says “FALCON PUNCHHHH!!”
Snake says "Kept ya waitin huh"
And Ike says “AETHER!!!!”
Captain Falcon says “come on”.
And Mr Game & Watch says *beep*
Ness says “PK Thundaaah”
11:40 I don't know how they managed to make Wario so deeply unsettling in this scene, but I am ALL for it.
Love that "Heeh heeh HEEH!" 😂
The amount of money I would pay for them to make a continuation or another story like like this is unexplainable. My childhood. :( I cried so hard watching this again.
I wish that smash ultimate had more character interactions and cutscenes 😗

i absolutely LOVE how they protrayed king dedede in this story. hes one of my favorite nintendo characters and this did his character so right
36:42 Look at how badass Peach is here. There's a ginormous explosion behind her, and she's just STANDING THERE with her umbrella not moving a single bit. Peach isn't worried AT ALL! I'm 100% sure she just let's Bowser kidnap her because she probably just doesn't care.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't Peach's Parasol work as a shield against projectiles in Mario games? Maybe that's why she feels safe?
Edit: Googled it, her Parasol is a magic item, allowing her to defend agains't enemies attacks and glide through the air.
Or maybe she feels sorry for Bowser
:D
This was the most anime like scene ever with Peach offering the tea and sheik is already drinking it while thinking “jsut go with it”
