- PLAYED LOUD. 2010 Gibson Les Paul 1957 Custom Reissue Black Beauty through a Dr. Z Remedy amp and a Dr. Z V30 Equipped 1x12. Close mic Sennheiser MD421 U5 and room mic AKG C414BXLII omni at 10 feet. Apogee duet into IPad and Cubasis, Wurlitzer Bass and slight Mellotron Strings to the right in the mix. No post processing but low cut on the guitars. Drums recorded with 1 mic AKG C414BXLII 6 feet in front of the kit.

I have the same amp and can sound like a JTM - JMP but more versatile, also works really well at low volumes with the drop wattage switch on back.

Thanks Johan, a really nice composition! DR Z Remedy might be one of the best amplifiers on the market. It is almost as if it an instrument of its own. Unforgiving but also brings every nerv of the playing if you can tame it. Beautiful!!

Really nice video. Thank you. I Purchased a Remedy about 2 months ago used. Got it for a steal thinking I would re sell as I don’t need another amp. I was wrong. Never getting rid of it. Put it up against my 66 Plexi and the Z is just better in almost every way. This has got to be one of the good doctors more underrated designs.

Besides the tone, this is so goood! I can't get it out of my head now: "Tadoda...tadoda....tadoda...duuuuumph! Tadoda.."
what a tone! I'm more of an EL34/84 guy, but I really like the tones from this amp, both clean and dirty. I've been going back and forth with which kind of amp to buy (6L6/6V6 vs. EL34/84).. back and forth for years lol. I love the pretty mids in EL amps (looking at Matchless Spitfire/Morgan AC20 Deluxe), and that chime, but the rounder tone of the 6L6/6V6 amps is nice too, though they lack those EL mids that I love. 6L6/6V6 seem to be better pedal platform amps from what I've seen on youtube (would you agree?). This Z is really really nice.. might sway me away from EL. Of course I'd love both, but money is money.

ive always thought its crazy how good of a drum sound one mic can get you! im actually really liking the akg c414bxlii on everything you do! alot of people talk trash about the newer akg's but i like them! dr.z sounds great! Im actually picking up a new 2x12 cab tommorow! the Jim root Orange model! have you tried it? it was between that, a fender supersonic 60 2x12, or a EVH 5150 2x12! the fender sounded better on cleaner guitars, but the orange was much better for hi gain tones IMO! Take Care!

yet another great tune. I really like the harmonized chords and fat clean descending riff. Amp sounds pretty good for 6V6`s, 4 is definitely fatter than 2.

Excellent demo Johan! I can hear a bit of a Frusciante vibe in it. You should develop this into a full song, maybe adding a Strat and a Hammond organ.

I have the same amp, also same guitar. It’s seems no one can be original these days, thought I was the only one,lol. Best amp I’ve had over 30 + yeasts, including JCM, JMPs. It has the 20-40watt selector on the back. No master volume but you don’t need it. This thing can break up at bedroom volumes without using guitar knobs, it’s that versatile.

Anus Repair Man look into the modern Chinese made Celestion greenback, it can be found used for that much if you look around. I got mine for $55-60 I think. And unless you put it next to a vintage one you're probably not going to notice much of a difference. Your audience won't anyway. I've had mine for a couple years and it's great! If I could afford a couple originals I'd have a cab with them (or some celestion blues!) but I'm good for now! 😁 check into Weber speakers as well, they make a lot of speakers that are supposed to be like different vintage ones. The Weber blue dog is $100 cheaper than a celestion blue.

Sounds sweet Johan! Dr Z amps seem to have a strong low mid chunk to them from what I've heard, is it possible to get a more aggressive upper mid with this amp?

Nick Benjamin Yes, just use the high channel volume and little to none of the normal channel, and it has pretty much the standard Marshall super lead voicing.
