Excellent little plane and Leonard is a real treat to talk to as well, for a guy over 90 years old he's still got it going on! Great job Les on that radial adaption, it looks great 👍

A nice interview with lots of good info!
I wanna hear exhaust note of that Verner engine, too.

Overall good information. However, I am in the process of building this airplane and post pandemic things seem not be the same the have been a couple of years ago. Spruce wood has become very expensive and it can take month to get a shipement from aircraft spruce. Aircraft greade plywood, which is recommended, can be difficult to source as well. A builder can definitely get everything from a place like Aircraft Spruce but if you have to ship it the cost will be significant.
I got my Aluminum tubing from a local supplier and the price was pretty high, even though I had no shipping cost.
The Verner Engine is a very nice piece of technolgoy with a coold sound and looks. Unfortunately difficult to get. The company in the Czech Republic has recently stopped the procudtion of the three and five cylinder version.
All in all I can't wait to get my project finished but it won’t be as inexpensive as it may have been a couple of years ago. If you can spend a significant amount of time sourcing material and dirving around to pick them up you might still build one at very low cost. However, if you have to order everything it can be significantly more expensive.

I’m considering purchasing a near complete legal eagle right now, it still needs wire bracing and control wire installation along with some of the cosmetic stuff. Do you recommend it as a starter level build?

It is the best Part 103 UL ever designed.

Hi Dan Great video and review of the legal eagle. I have wanted to fly a ultralight since I was 14 in the 70s and the legal eagle was one of the airplanes I would look at. Thanks again for the video

That big prop would become a spoiler or speed brake once the power is pulled!

Those cylinders on the Verner engine look suspiciously like VW cylinders. Not saying that's a bad thing, or anything.

IT LOOKS LIKE THERE IS ALOT OF PLAY IN THE CONTROLS OR IS THAT NORMAL?

leonard and les are working on a Briggs and Stratton V-twin conversion, but dang if those are now out of stock everywhere too.
