The main reason I watch your vids over others is because you have fun and enjoy yourself! Too many take their selves so seriously. Good work!

Loved my first barlow 1970? Fell thru my jean pocket in the woods. I bought a yellow bear and son barlow. Nice, wanted a wood or bone tho. At least I see it in morning light!

I am a fan of the Barlow pocket knife pattern for an everyday carry. The Caliber brand is an expensive choice. The Caliber brand knives have a good build quality with attention paid to fit and finish. Value priced, good fit and finish with sharp blades. These qualities make it easy to like for an everyday carry knife. Thanks George for your insight on this knife.

Great show! A bit off topic if I may, I really like the flannel shirt you are wearing in this vid. Love the pattern and colors. I’m a lifelong flannel shirt guy, can you tell us where you got that shirt? Thanks!

I love Frost Cutlery's traditional style slip joint knives and fixed blades. I avoid anything "tacticool" that they offer though.

I think pick bone used to mean hand jigged, rather than machine jigged. Don’t think that applies anymore. I’ve considered the gunstock in this series, but don’t really like the bullet shield or jigging. My fave Frost is the locking copperhead - have you tried one? Jolly Peanut turned me on to the pattern. Smaller than a standard copperhead, but really good in hand with a grippy spot at the tang. Their rams horn is pretty sweet. I have some older Frosts in pakkawood, decent knives. I’ve heard that the Steel Warrior and Ocoee River lines are pretty good. I have some of those, and some Whitetail Cutlery, and have been happy with them. I find a bit more gapping than in Rough Riders, but function has been just fine. My main issue with Frost is that they produce so many $1 plastic-handled flippers that they get no respect. And I find a lot of their bone-handled knives ugly - over-fancy bolsters, nasty colors, lumpy jigging. Just not to my taste. But when I find one I like, it turns out to be good. I like the variety of patterns nobody else makes. Don’t feel bad you can’t afford fancier knives. I can’t, either. I have traded for and been given some more expensive knives, and while it’s pleasant to handle a smooth, pretty knife, I find I’d rather have 3-4 Rough Riders than one reserve or Case. I think Schatt & Morgans are gorgeous, but if I had one it would sit on a shelf. I’d be afraid to touch it!

I am with you. If I could afford the fancy ones I would put them in thier box and not touch em. Seems a waste. But the budgets I can have fun with and if it goes wrong oh well. I will but more up scale now and again just to touchy feel. But I personally do not know enough about steels etc to justify and differentiate between them. Sadly.or maybe a good thing. Give me a budget anyday...alot if them..lol

My experience with inexpensive brands are the edges are always wonky, I expect to put my own edge with a reprofile every time, some are worse then others, but all get a edge massage.
