Congrats on the new home, and thank you for the tutorial. My friend bought a ton of WoW minis from a garage sale for cheap, and we've been trying to make thematic customs that fit into HS lore and expand army build options. One question I have is when you create stats for a new unit, what's your general sense of pricing that unit point-wise, and how do you tell when the unit is "balanced?"
Sweet! Creating customs is one of my favorite things to do! As to your question...I try to find figures that are similar in statistical power or specials and base points off of them. So, if i have a hero at 5life, 5move, 1range, 4attack, 4defense...i try to put points close to other figures with those same stats. BUT that also depends on the specials. Then i compare the specials i give the figure with other similar figures and try to determine how points may fit. After that, you then playtest and see how whether or not the figure "fills" those points or not.

This tutorial was very helpfull. Made my first decent custom card thanks to it. I do have a question do, cause I think I did something wrong. After my first card, I used the brush to make a green dot in the line of sight. Now I'm trying to make a second card, but I think I've messed up the settings. When I'm at 2.28 from your video (using the brush to make some of the image dissapear) it does not work anymore. It only A) blackens the image or B) makes the original background reapear. Do you know how I can change this?
Do you copy and paste the cards when you start a new thread, because I made the stat card using the x 2 program and saved it in my images, but it won't let me copy and paste my picture into the thread? (Copy and paste on thread for heroscapers.com)

I’m not a pro with photoshop and don’t have the resources for it but can always find figs to customize and can create stats and abilities but I could really use your help in the creation of cards aspect.

nah that was smart to make a custom card video. actually coincidentally I am making a custom. I was wondering where you got the blank heroscape card. and can HP get adobe photoshop cs6.
heroscapers.com has downloads for the heroscape blank cards. Unfortunately I don't think photoshop can be used on HP. I'm pretty sure it's only for Mac :-/
I made a few characters and put them on Heroscapers.net. This vid will help out a bunch when I decide to actually create the cards. Problem has been trying to find figures for the cards :(
to be honest...I find it harder to make customs first and then match a figure to the concept...so I usually just browse through miniatures and then come up with a concept to fit the figure. That makes it a lot easier for me.
I like to use Troll and Toad...most of their figures are around $3 a piece...which I consider to be pretty reasonable. They also allow you to sell to them, so I sold a bunch of my Pokemon and got instore credit, and if you sell them over $20 in value of items you get 25% more instore credit. So a lot of my custom figures I essentially got for free.
Gimp is a definitely a worthy resource that a lot of Heroscapers use to make their custom cards. I have no personal experience with Gimp, so I wouldn't know what to tell ya

What about the back of the card? How do you add something to it?

You have to make sure you’re in a separate layer when you try to use the masking tool and your colors need to be set at black and white

Do you know of anyway to print a Heroscape card like this with the same thickness and feel as a real Heroscape card?
yeah...I put the cards in a pdf document (11 by 17 size) and then I print on Semi-gloss 80lb paper. That is about the right thickness and weight.

+Sir Heroscape photoshop can be used on PC or Mac. Free alternatives are Gimp and Paint.NET

Never seen DBZ cards and I’m not familiar with the story/characters so I wouldn’t be a good fit for making s custom
MSE is much older than 2016. You should be using that instead definitely.
