  • Outdoor Vitals Tushar Rain Jacket - Ultralight Backpacking Protection
The Outdoor Vitals Tushar Rain Jacket used two kinds of WPB materials to achieve a "best of both worlds" effect. The Toray Torain 3d 2.5 layer is 28.5K waterproof, 20K breathable in the grey areas (the areas that are most exposed) and 15.5K waterproof, 28.9K breathable in the green areas (where you want to the moisture to get out.
The features are minimal - no hem, hood or cuff adjustments. No hand pockets. Small zippers. But all that adds up to a 8 ounce hard shell that is more durable than it sounds. It has 20D ripstop and really good taped seams.
They ran it through the "jungle test" which simulates 10 years of use. So, it has your back on that next backpacking trip.

Outdoor Vitals and Enlightened Equipment seem to be making some great ultra light clothing these days.

The height/weight/arm length thing was great. Helps a lot. I a 6'3" and a bit heavier so sizing up is in order for me. TY

Thank you Paul! I am impressed with their design and material choices as well. Can’t wait to see how our colleague Wil Rickards does with the trekking pole tent from them 😎🙌

@@Engearment That will be interesting, look forward to it!

Nice that they got the hood right. Ventus and Dragonwool had ridiculously small hoods. Don’t get me wrong, I like how OV is doing their own thing.

That is good feedback. Agree on the hood being really hood. 👌

A quick add concerning the small hoods - Easy way out of it is to slap a buff under to cover exposed forehead.

Hopefully, you'll be able to get your hands on that Norrona lyngen Gore-Tex Active jacket and do a comparison against the Tushar. Both jackets employ the body mapping fabric design, albeit different membranes/fabrics, and cost..whoa! the lyngen GTX Active is $649 compared to Tushar $230 ($207 membership).😁

Absolutely!! We just were at an event with Norrona reps this week. (Phantom permanent wax and DPS ski tuning party) We should have sone gear to test soon.

@@Engearment actually, there are lots more companies offering the hybrid body mapping fabric design. Others are using gtx paclite plus in shoulder and sleeves areas and gtx active in chest and under arms.
