  • I go over 5 different SBC's that are fully capable of running Klipper for your 3D Printer. Below are links to check prices and to learn more aqbout them from the manufacturers. As of the publication of this video on 10/9/22, all these boards are available to purchase under $50. That of course can change....

I was trying to figure out the channel name and 3d printing and couldn't remember as it's been awhile! Good to see a video from you again! And this is oddly perfect timing as I have a friend who's just started looking for Pi alternatives for klipper.

great alternatives review. I got two important corrections: 1) there is only one usb3 port on Orange PI 3 LTS regardless visually it looks like there are two of them. 2) DSI/CSI ports will not work on Pi4B if you use CB1, you have to attach Raspberry PI CM4 to make them working

Somehow I missed the new video, but had seen the new logo while watching some older content recently. Heard you mention the changes on the WoodShopLife podcast, and my brandy new 3D printer just showed up... ;) so of course I had to come check this out! I'm not at the point where I need Klipper (yet), though I might be considering adding OctoPrint to the mix in the near future as I have a 'spare' RPi4/4GB.
I'm obviously really new to the 3D printing ecosystem so I'm still a little fuzzy on where various things might overlap, or not. Is there any chance of Klipper and OctoPrint co-existing on the same RPi / Pi alternative? Or would it be better to keep the various concerns separate?

Yes, you can run Klipper on Octoprint with a plug in for Klipper called OctoKlipper. I really like using Mainsail as the interface, however using Octoprint give you the ability to use all the awesome Octoprint plugins.

To me the best alternative would be running everything on an Android device, including klipper screen
there is a way to do it using termux I think but I am not brave enough to try it myself ,I think it does require root
but I have so many Android devices sitting here not doing anything I would like to get it working to repurpose some of this old stuff , specifically I have like 3 2015 fire 7 tablets with root and custom ROM's (only one with TWRP though) I wonder if they would be powerful enough

Yeah, I agree if you have the device. For me, I'm an IPhone person so I would have to buy a used phone off ebay. I would use a substitute fo the pi.
