    O wow! Thank you for this video! I juts rescued my trusty old TRV480E from the dump. It had been giving the C31:21 error for a few years now, and now I can say YOU fixed it.. My old TR420 8mm camcorder is dead, and beyond rescue, and by watching your video and following it, I can now capture those memories from 1997.
    Thanks again from Cape Town, South Africa

    THANK YOU SO MUCH! My camera had the exact same problem! I have been trying to figure out what to do for a long time. Mine is a trv350 and it was surprisingly well designed to come apart

    Thanks so much for this video, it saved my Sony TRV480. I couldnt beleive I found your video made for this camera that I bought in the late 80's. It is the only tool I have to use to be able to transfer these analog Video8 tapes to digital. Well done.

      @@gsl274 digital 8 didn't come out untill 1999. The model was the dcrtrv110. I have one from the first shipment. Anything before then was analog 8mm and hi8. The DCR series of cameras could play analog tapes. If your camera is a DCR then it is after 1999. Prior to that they were CCD xxxx not DCR xxxx. You may very well have tapes going back to 1985 which was when video 8 entered the market but claiming you had a DCR series camera from then is impossible because they didn't exist untill 1999.

    Hi, perphaps you can help me out with a minor issue. I have a kenwood kx7030 cassettedeck, wich plays fine but in dolby mode the sound is muffled and the highs are somewhat missing, when i compare to another deck. I am an electronics engineer so i can read schematics and so on. My idea is to add some kind of "play trim" circuit to the head amplifier like on yamaha decks to pass more high frequencies. Perhaps there is a better way. I would like to hear your advice on that.
    I already learned a lot from your videos thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and keep up the good work!

    Good afternoon! Recently acquired dcr-trv480 as fully operational, but the firewire port was corrupted by the Chinese firewall 4 pin cable on usb!! Then he acquired another dcr-trv480 with a serviceable port, but with the error c: 32:22. I wanted to throw a board with firewire, usb and jack ports. I swapped the boards and did not help, apparently 5 volts from usb to firewire signal connectors, something burned on the main board. Then, after watching your video, I mistakenly performed the same operation on the camera as on the video, but instead of the liquid that I used isopropyl alcohol in you. And the camera earned a miracle, but for some reason some old tapes recorded in video 8 are poorly read or not read at all, and some recordings are read perfectly. The same cassettes on ccd-trv-218 hi8 are played perfectly all and no problems. Is this a feature of digital8 or should I use the same liquid as you instead of isopropyl alcohol? What's it called? I understand the problem that contacts are not gilded. Are they just nickel? And I also noticed that the contacts are strongly pressed on the loop and therefore are not completely clamped by the connector. Sorry, probably hard to read after translator))

    I think Apple's EarPods are also wired differently. I believe the ring for the mic and the sleeve for ground are reversed so they won't work in devices other than iPhones. I could be wrong but we all know about the proprietary crap from Sony and Apple...

    • @coyote_den
      @coyote_den 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      They can't be wired like that, because the socket would have to be wired the same. That would mean non-Apple headphones/headsets wouldn't work on iPhones and they do.
      All TRRS headsets are mic on sleeve, then ground, right, left on tip.

      Yes i service many. Depending on model and age. Many are just not worth fixing due to the leaky capacitor issue that affected many early models. Cameras from late 90s and into early 2000s are good candidates. Early models not so much.

    Dam connectors again!, and i bet they are gold plated so should never have had a problem.
    Companies sure do some odd things, and not for there customers good.
    Under rating capacitor life span so a washing machine dies 18 months later, I've seen there skull duggerie :-(.
    Yes the dongle for permission to use software was sneaky, but i imagine people just patched the software to not need the dongle.
    Proprietery cables are just annoying, we shelled out a lot of cash for there hardware, the least they could do is play fair with cables.

    • @12voltvids
      @12voltvids  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well they were gold plated but when water gets in there then anything can and does happen. I used to love those problems. Made tons of money fixing these type of problems. I can probably make even more now because the cameras are beginning scarce these days.
