They had a lot of variety, even requiring you to play as Cait Sith sometimes, no gun and weak as dirt. All sorts of different challenges. Was so fun.
It's okay to like a game that TH-cam tells you you aren't supposed to like. If I listened to TH-camrs, I'd have avoided many games, many of which are personal favs like ff 13 and RE6

I've spent many years analyzing Dirge of Cerberus and I quite enjoy the speedrunning scene. So I have definitely had a huge amount of enjoyment from this janky title!

Somo of the games that i can remember 100% sure are: Dmc1, dmc3 and fatal frame 2. Devil may cry 4 the original ps3 first release of the game has a prologue story on how nero injured his arm trying to save kirie. That's the last game that i remember with a prologue on the game manual.
well i love Dirg of Cerberus but it is a really short game, if you playd the levels once you can beat the game within a few hours. thats where the negative critism came from because there is not a whole lot of content D; but design wise one of the best looking games square enix produced considering the year was 2006
Just bought the game complete in box. Figured after reading the manual on the bus id check youtube. So excited to get home and finally play the one game in 7s compilation i never got around to.
I appreciate the game cause it answers a handful of things. They confirm a character's status from crisis core. Which I think leaves room for an alternative story option. Explains lucrecia backstory for those who missed it. More interaction between the characters. As stated in the video, expanded on other characters as the main focus. A possible new route for continuation instead of prequel. When I played this game, it was like the old team was actually slowly forming back together after advent children.
I just love Nomurqs character designs from that era. I would love future FF titles to embrace that outlandish and sometimes plain ridiculous designs of characters. We've been geting more serious designs in XV and XVI. I want XVII to go to that golden era for inspiration.
This came out in an era that I like to call "madness" where SE was trying a lot of new stuff, anything BUT quality. The great news is remake. I think we all (OG fans I mean) GASPED when they showed the Yuffie DLC reveal. Not only cuz Yuffie herself BUT Weiss and Nero!? We had no idea what to expect and honestly? It was a great addition. As long as all the compilation is treated just like they approached/treated deepground/Weiss-Nero, no one will complain. In fact, I am super hyped to see how more of deepground we will see cuz I think this time they will play out WAY more
I think it does need some retooling, but with a little polish, I could certainly see Vincent staring in a DMC-type game, which, ironically seems to be what FF16 actually IS. There are some interesting ideas here, but I agree, focus less on DeepGround, give us more Vincent, and throw some of this in with the upcoming Rebirth as DLC, and I would love to see it included.
I've been playing it for the first time recently. I kinda liked it at first but it just gets worse the deeper you go into it. I kinda like what they were trying to do with it. They should've gone more metroidvania with it. Definitely gave me a Castlevania Lament of Innocence/Curse of Darkness vibe, it just leaned too much into trying to be a shooter and the game design goes to hell at a certain point.
I loved this game. It wasn't perfect, not even close, but I had so much fun. I was never a fan of FF7, but I did like the story from what I'd seen and really loved Vincent and Yuffie. So when this game came out I was allll over it. I liked the designs, even the comically large reticle. The gameplay overall was lacking a lot, but I gave it a pass for everything else they did right. I'd love to see this remade with better gameplay, while keeping the art and most of the UI the same. Even the comically large reticle lol
I coukd be mistaken but I coukd have sworn there was an option to turn on manual aiming so it doesn't lock on to enemies. I think the main green reticle pops up no matter what but everything within it doesn't get the secondary red reticle that shows they'll be automatically hit. It's been a long time since I played so I could be wrong but I could have sworn I played without the "auto-lock" once.

I got introduced to the Final Fantasy series by the movie "Advent Children" as it was a dubbed animated movie for kids in my country and I think I watched it over 20 times since I was 7 years old (yupe didn't undrestand a thing of it back then about it). then I found out about the games and I begin to read about it and since I didn't have the PS2 or access to the game I watched youtube videos and read the transcript of the whole game on the internet and finally after two years someone installed an emulator for me and I began playing it and before I reached weiss' boss the whole thing crashed... but hey I played FFXV then...
This is one of my favorite FF7 spinoff games. I do agree that it would have been better for a game focused on Vincent valentine, to focus 'more' on his backstory, but I liked what was there. Personally, I hope this gets a "remastered" version and that it comes out on PC as well, because I much prefer to play shooter games on PC lol

Even though the gameplay wasn't all that the game's sequel story was still very interesting. Shinra was out of commission with the WRO replacing them as the new government which was dedicated to aiding the healing of the planet after the public finally realized how important it's lifeblood was and cannot be used as a damn energy source. It was also about the Shinra's dark secret finally revealing themselves, DEEPGROUND that is!
I'm tempted to check it out myself. I played parasite eve 3rd birthday and enjoyed it alot. So makes ne wonder if the other panned square enix shooters are any good.
This is technically the first Final Fantasy game I played. Was always interested in FFVII so when I saw this at blockbuster I rented it. It’s by no means a masterpiece but I loved the story and characters. Gameplay is fine. It’s a not so guilty pleasure for me. I’m hoping this story gets a facelift of some kind in the future

Without giving much away; Although the main plot points repeat themselves in the Remake games; Sephiroth is aware of the events that occur in the original game, and is effectively trying to change the timeline.
@@Maverick.D. thanks! I grew up on the original and still play it. Was begging for a remake after the PS3 tech demo but basically just wanted the 7th heaven treatment. When the remakes were announced to be chapter games released over many years, I was disappointed but figured why not wait a bit longer (especially since I have Xbox + Switch). This does make it more intriguing but I think I’ll try to hold out until the inevitable remake trilogy is released and I’ll consider it a separate timeline.
Played this for the first time very recently. People really give this game too much of a hard time. The auto aim doesn't bother me as I treated it more like a action RPG. Controls are a bit stiff, but so are plenty of games from then. My biggest complaints are that the story is too short in my opinion and there is not enough time with the Deepground characters. The boss fights are also too easy. The lore is great though and is probably my favorite part.

What's funny for me is that this is the first game I ever played that belonged to the FF7 series. Yeah, my friend just bought it because it looked like a cool action game and brought it over and let me borrow it. I played through and beat the whole entire thing. I just played it for the game. The story was in one ear and out the other since I had no context whatsoever since I hadn't played the original FF7 nor had I seen Advent Children. I remember having fun with it. In fact, I can't help but notice that the user rating for this game is quite a lot higher than the critical reception on Metacritic. Mayyyyybe it's not quite as bad as some people make it out to be. ;)
I had fun with this but I would love a remake or digital re-release. There's an event in the story I hate though so maybe a remake could include a way to avoid it.
I didn't hate this game and don't really see why it got as much hate as it did. As far as spin offs go for final fantasy it wasn't terrible, the gunplay was pretty fun and basic, it had some strategy to it. I liked the story up until the very end with the "big reveal" and the whole shonen style ending battle was a little tongue in cheek even at the time i played it when i was like 19-20?? Icr but I'm 34 now so a lot has been lost in memory lol. I do like the call back in intergrade 😏

It needs to be remade and put into part three of FF7’s remake set I have it to play on PS2, but I was hoping they would do the remake and add it into PS5 if they did that they could correct those mistakes I know I’ve tried playing it on my PS2. The story was in one ear and out the other since I had no context whatsoever since I hadn't played the original FF7 nor had I seen Advent Children. I remember having fun with it.
In fact, I can't help but notice that the user rating for this game is quite a lot higher than the critical reception on Metacritic. Mayyyyybe it's not quite as bad as some people make it out to be. ;)
I had fun with this but I would love a remake or digital re-release. There's an event in the story I hate though so maybe a remake could include a way to avoid it.
I preordered it. I loaned it to a friend. Never saw it again. I regret that.

I didn't hate this game and don't really see why it got as much hate as it did. As far as spin offs go for final fantasy it wasn't terrible, the gunplay was pretty fun and basic, it had some strategy to it. I liked the story up until the very end with the "big reveal" and the whole shonen style ending battle was a little tongue in cheek even at the time i played it when i was like 19-20?? Icr but I'm 34 now so a lot has been lost in memory lol. I do like the call back in intergrade 😏
Pre ordered this and enjoyed it. I was just happy to get more FF7 content.
I hope this game gets the Crisis Core treatment. Personally enjoyed Dirge of Cerberus back when it released in 2006.

I had this game growing up, it wasn’t the best but i love Vincent and some of the characters were cool. Glad some of them are returning in remake timeline.
Loved this game when it came out. I remember being blown away by this Genesis character and had to know everything about him.
It needs to be remade and put into part three of FF7’s remake set I have it to play on PS2, but I was hoping they would do the remake and add it into PS5 if they did that they could correct those mistakes I know I’ve tried playing it on my PS2. I’m just more interested in what’s going on with ff7 rebirth at the moment lol

Lol I remember playing this game back in the day when it released and getting clowned on for liking what is apparently "one of the worst Final Fantasy games in existence". I still enjoyed it and hope they do a remake/remaster with the new timeline.
