At that time the geometry of the bikes was all wrong, but they had great courage... no dropper, and sitting high, huge names at the tima Pete,Palmer...Warner...big times
I remember seeing those bikes as a kid thinking they were the dogs b*ll*cks and wanting one so bad… small travel shocks and single crown suspension, triple chain ring, skinny bars, 26” wheels… haha these men had huge balls getting these down the side of mountains in 7-8 mins!!!
Fun fact, they did exist back then,, or maybe just a couple of years later and I'm not just talking about the Hite-Rite. Towaro Swiss had remote actuated dropper posts in the 90's. Good luck finding any information about them, they're total unicorn poo.
No most were disc at this point, some were still running HS33's but not meany, if you watch the MTV coverage of this race Rob shows the bike and talks about it th-cam.com/video/DNDzRBFtrCs/w-d-xo.html
Check out Rob Warner's new retro channel here www.youtube.com/@robertwarner2767/videos for heaps of awesome content.
"im lost for words" probably the only time ever lmao.
HA so true!
Hahahaha
His lack of words in that moment inspired him never to be at a loss for words again... Haha
Look at the sweet action of those Z1 Bombers. I had a set of those, they were a quantum leap ahead of anything else
7+ min run😳 that’s double the time, of the runs today🤘Warner the boss💪🏻
0:37 they really need to bring this sort of impeccable music back to the modern red bull coverage
Look. At. The. TIME!!!!!
How does Rob sit down with balls that big.
Mad lads on inadequate gear doing crazy stuff 🤩

They certainly did, bikes have changed, tracks have changed, but bike skills are bike skills and these riders had as much as anyone.
I remember falling in love with the Straight 6/Lawwill DH-6. In 1998 I bought a Yeti DH-6. Still have it, although tough to ride these days.
Bikes were pretty good by 96, the geometry was just whack
All hail the egg 🥚
A clap for Rob Warner please.
A CLAP!
The highest paid professional mountian bike rider in Britian 2022... Who would have thought it.

Dropper seatposts would be perfect for the 90s dowhill races..

Nah, we had the skill to adjust the seat post while on the move ;)
@@Марк.Фетнов that's a skill that I don't feel I want....
@@MD-uu5nt it’s no more scary than doing a big dropoff on a no suspension mtb from the 90s 💪
