To all my friends
And even to my enemies
I am writing this letter to all of you
To bid thee a fond farewell
My journey has come to an end
For I am old and grey
Years are told by the wrinkles on my face
My hat is worn
My clothes are torn
My cane is brittle
And the soles of my boots are wearing thin
My eyes cannot see as well as they used too
And yet here I am
Setting out on a worn path taken to often
Walking these dusty plains one last time
A cool breeze caresses and pricks the hairs of my skin
Autumn is coming
And soon…
Old man winter will be here
To force his nature upon us all
Soon these landscapes will be covered in snow
As far as the eye can see
And I want no part of that
My sore eyes search out
Where the sun and sky touch each other in the distance
That is my destination
It is where I long to be
Warm in my home
Listening to the sounds of a crackling fire
At peace
Like a soothing stream silently flowing down a mountain valley
That no one hears or pays attention too
It is where I long to be
You see…
I have fought many battles in my lifetime
I’ve cast spells to save the world
And on some that I am not proud of
I’ve suffered broken bones
My body's covered in scars that have healed
Yet they could tell you a thousand tales of the adventures I’ve been on
In my lifetime it is my hope that I have served you well
For I will not be back this way again
In the future when you hear my name
Whether it be in books
Or just in conversation
May it bring a smile to you
That is the legacy in which I wish to leave
May the light live and be with you
Ahh…
It feels good to make it home
Countless days are now behind me

I was finally able to let go of my best friend after listening to this, it was very hard, she was with me for 6 years, I threw her ashes into the wind and river where we liked to camp, I know she's happy on the other side and no longer suffering, thanks for providing a foundation for a little bit of courage.
I'm deeply moved by your story. It's an honor to know my music could provide comfort during such a tough time.

So beautifully said. Your story touched my soul. Music is one of the great common denominators, if only the world can set all of our hate, hurt and anger towards people, but instead encourage, love, and inspire people to reach their greatest potential. Our current world view of one another would be much better off. If only our attitude could see how God intended for us to be - “Love one another, as I have loved you.” Amen.

Some choices unfortunately are not just ours to make and this song everytime makes me think of make changes in my life which I'm affraid of to make. Nevermind your comment is really uplifting, thank you :)
That choice is really the only thing we have control over - whether to choose hope or despair.

This music makes me think of Jesus. When He ascended to Heaven and to the Father, did the apostles weep at His farewell? They knew they'd see Him again, but would the wait be heartbreaking, a bittersweet longing?

I feel the same way. I have been living in a house for five years now, and I can feel it in my own heart and soul that it is also time and time to leave this house and move again to somewhere else it has been fun living here but I've grown bored of this place and all that it has had to offer even my own folks feel this too they've been looking at houses to buy or to look at and I'm sure that wherever we may end up at will be a new big grand adventure for me and for my folks to go through sure I will miss this place and the furnace noises that the furnace does wherever it turns on every single day or night in this house.
I found this music just days ago and listened to it as i did chores around the house with Hankdog. My best friend for the last 11 years. I lost him suddenly Sunday night, and now i can't stop listening to this for fear he will be gone from my memory. I see him curled up on his mat so peaceful. My heart is broken. I wasn't ready for him to leave me.

It’s brilliant … soulful…. Gandalf’s farewell to Middle Earth -/- ages have past the world before him changed and the Grey Havens, the undiscovered country beckons him home… his heart laments and rejoices as his journey thru the realms of Middle Earth fades into memory …
Listening to the beautiful piece reminds of this beautiful world. It’s so very sad to see humanity tear it and others apart. I long for the return of the King in Jesus Christ who will wipe away all our tears and restore what was once perfect.
I am going to scatter my loves ashes soon on his birthday, not his death day.In the forest at his spécial tree and also with our beloved dog. I will play this during my time of thankfulness and gratitude whilst performing my task of letting go. Thank you for this meaningful music
To the composer. I would like to use this in a dedication to Hankdog, my best friend of 11+ years and make a site for others to post their pet friends photos and short stories. I will try to get my daughter to help me for i am not versed with those undertakings. This is beautiful, and i found it only a few days before he left me alone suddenly. I miss him so much.

I cannot express how beautiful this music is or how much it affects me. I can't listen to more than a few seconds of it before tears start streaming down my face. I lost my Dad last summer and this music makes me miss him and grieve for him in a profound way. Thank you for this deeply moving music.

For depression, etc. Find, go, do it if you need. And let others who are suffering know...: if you are healed now.
I lost my second aunt to lung cancer she was like the lady version of Gandalf for me as was my first one too. Oh, the many journeys we have all had together, just me and them and family and all of our friends that have come and gone from our lives it is bittersweet when we all have to say goodbye to our own friends or family members that have been with us all throughout our life's journey wether they were a pet cat or a dog or a bird or even a goldfish or betta fish or two parakeets or family members that you've had known from since you were just only a little kid. The first deaths of these people or pets is always the hardest, but it does get easier in time for others but not for me. For me, it just gets harder to deal with because I know that I'm next on death's list somewhere down the road of life. ~ Life's never-ending tale. ~ told and written by a woman who has been through it all over and over and over again, nonstop all throughout her life. And has grown oh so very wise from it. Life is a journey that we all must take it is what you do with your life and journey that determines who you are and what your destiny will be in the end of all things that have already been all said and done and come to pass. Don't let your life pass you by like how I did find someone to share your life journey with and have fun being young and a kid because youth doesn't last forever so make it count because it's all that you got. Always remember that when one journey ends, another begins for us all. Written by Alex.

Just listened to this while reading the last couple of chapters of The Hobbit and it fit so well. Thank you for this.
The beauty of music it can transform your mind to other places in time and the world for that moment has peace .
Or send you back in time to when you were a kid walking through a dry river bed full of rocks and dirt and sand and meeting a stranger African American little girl kid wearing a sun dress outfit and bonnet hat on her head or playing chase a butterfly all around a grass green sunlit sloped hill surrounded by trees and hearing the sweet soft beautiful sounds of birds chirping and tweeting to each other in the forest tree's and rolling down the hill sideways and then sitting back up and trying to stand back up again awhile being dizzy as the world spins all around you like a spinning top in a slow spin and then losing your balance and falling down onto your butt and just laughing it off as a little kid. Oh, so many good memories and good times that were sometimes overshadowed with the bad time stuff that wasn't so much fun to go through either as a kid. Memory wise anyway though that is, of course.

This is very peaceful and calming, it helps sooth my soul as times are real tough as I live in the shadow of a very risky and very complex 18 hour long life saving pelvic lumbar spine surgery, as I listen to this It has helped me come to terms with what needs to happen, weather I wake up after or end up on the Shores of eternity, I feel completely Alright now.
