Thank you so much Jana, you touched my soul with your final words and tears. My mother died when I was 23 month old and my whole life I looked on women for orientation: neighbors, teachors, actors… Now I am 72 years old, a happy mother of a boy (37) and a happy knitter, watching your wonderful, colorful episodes! I was very touched by your thoughts on Mother’s Day. For many years now I have shied away from the day, because I lost my mother to cancer in my thirties, and thirty plus years on I miss her every day. Like you too my life was influenced by my grandmother and mother regarding crafting. When I was younger I sewed many of my clothes especially summer dresses, and Sunday afternoons were alway spent knitting or crocheting together. You’re so right about celebrating those who nurtured us as we grew regardless of weather they are still with us. I think in future I will try to adopt your approach to Mother’s Day and celebrate instead of mourn the loss of my “mothers”. Thank you Jana 💞

I appreciate your originality in reminding us that we can be inspired and nurtured by other "mothers" besides our biological one. In that regard, I am grateful for my wonderful maternal grandmother "Dodo" (1890-1987) and my high school English teacher Kay Metzger. Mrs. Metzger saw that I was resting on my laurels as a good student and demanded that I do better because she knew I could reach my full potential. I have had so much to thank her for over the years. I have never wanted to let her down again.

Hope that you had a lovely Mother's Day. It was so wonderful when you brought up about your grandmother's influences in your life. I agree with you. I think one of the biggest influences on my life was my great grandmother along with my mother and grandmothers. Happy Mother's Day to all women. As one person in my church once said to a woman that didn't want to attend the Mother Daughter luncheon as she never became a mom. But as a woman you are a daughter and still need to be celebrated.

Just went yarn shopping with my baby. ( 25 year old daughter 😊) today and plan on spending Mother's Day knitting under our apple blossoms!

Orange is a wonderful color for all the seasons. I love pairing it with neutral colors like beiges and grays. It kicks up to a great neon, too.

Hey Jana, thanks for the gentle reminder of all the woman that have had a huge influence in our lives. My Nana (grandma) has had a huge role in making me what I am today; and I feel blessed to have had a her. That sentiment continues to remain real/true with every generation. My Mama has moved in with us because she has early stage dementia. We're taking her out for her favorite, Chinese food, for Mother's Day. While she might not remember these outings later, I will have the memories.
I've not had time to knit lately. I really should try to carve out time before bed.
Sunday is also Mother’s Day here in the US. I had a grandmother who was my first mother substitute and then a foster mother after that. After marriage I had a wonderful mother in law, and eventually I actually met my birth mother. Life is full of mothers, not always biological ones.
I love your gnome. Gnomes make me smile. I did Imagine Landscapes kal at Christmas. That was my first one. (Ones) now I love to make them and yours are so cheerful.

I’ve scrappy socks on the needles with flowers just before the toe decreases, like violets. All greens and some purple. One sock finished.
Looking at some crochet curtain ideas, I have a pretty flying birds filet crochet pattern in mind, but I have to lengthen and widen the panel. But I’d still prefer to make some cotton summer sweaters. But the curtains are becoming a need.
I’ll probably go visit my Mother, she is 95 now, and it’s a bit to hard for me to take her anywhere now. And there are so many restrictions on what I can bring her. My fav being flowers she loves so much, but are not allowed. So I’m working on what to bring.
She still knits! But not like she used too. And I’m working on an Elton Cardigan for her thatI hope to finish soon. It is vivid blues, greens and purple. She loves the colours.
Mom always fed us raw sweet onion sandwiches, and lots of garlic and chicken soup when colds and sinus hit. What is the favourite comfort and healing kinds of food popular over in Finland?

15:00 about your blocked nose. Can it be hay-fever? It can develop at any time of your life. I had the same last year and was struggling to breathe till autumn. This year, I decided to try antihistamine, and it helped!
