      i mean i ride quads. now kinda buying cheap 2 stroke bikes, 1.5years ago i didnt know how to change brake pads.. now i know brake pads, purge brakes, do bearings, change engine oil, clean carb, stupid wiring that messed up.
      at some point you just gotta learn.. and willing to learn... i aint paying someone to fix my shit...nah cars my friends do it, but im there to help learn and give them the tools when they needs it....dont trust me self to do stuff alone on a car... dont have a mecanic mind. broken to many bolds already being stupid and turning the wrong way of to tight them..
      but im learning.. soon my oncle gonna do my banshee motor and i will be there to watch how to do it.... (still scared of engine parts bit complex for me and scarred to messup)

    • @reggiexp69
      @reggiexp69 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      btw joe came from far also...
      dude didnt know how to do engine parts... and just cleaned bikes and quads with wd40 and call it mint.. to now rebuilding hole engines...
      i really like to see his progress every video :)

    i ride and rebuild .. and have a 04 400ex and had a 99 . .. 400's are about the only honda i know of that the timing tensioner wears out on.. ( a fresh oem tensioner spring or complete assembly is a good idea ) especially if you reset the valve lash then it gets noisy again.. personally i like to convert the Oem timing to manual by removing the internal spring and spring adjuster + access screw .. then with a long m6 bolt and m6 nut run the nut onto the bolt then the bolt through the adjuster access hole .. .. then with the engine at TDC andf the timing tensioner inplace .. simply run the bolt in until it snugs and back it 1/4 turn then lock it inplace with the jam nut. This Mod makes the 400 have quiet chatter free top end , that does not require frequent valve adjustments . .. for better front shocks cheap .. look a pair of used front shocks from a yfz450r made before 2012.. or from either a suzuki ltz400 or kawasaki kfx400 made after 08 (both of them are the same machine the shocks will have resivors.. and all mentioned will require some grinding to the upper mounts inorder to fit the 400 frame..

    • @Y2daT420
      @Y2daT420 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      for a nice reliabile power gain.. run any decent full exhaust and a 37-39mm fcr carburetor.. doing a decent port and polish to the head help lots also.. ( Simply smoothing all the transitions from carb to boot,boot to head ..then down to the valves .. then the same on the way out the exhaust side .. ) to fit the fcr carb its nessaccarry to use a heat gun to mash a small dent in the bottom over the carbs location. .. it will fit the carb boot if you put some power behind it.. the intake boot will need some modding as well .. i cut mine where itswide then added a silicone tube thatwas large as neeed for the carb . from the cut to thecarb.. optionally a trx450r airbox can be fit .. my jetting for fcr 37mm + duncann + port n polish ended near 45 pilot and 178 main.. stock cam and stock bore

    Check that oil pump very carefully. They can suck up lots of tiny debris that will ruin the new parts. Ask me how I know! You are doing great on this. Keep up the great work. For SURE replace that timing chain. You can see it binding up. It should be super limp.

    The RD engine is very similar to the Banshee engine. That CR500 sound's good, but did you know Kawasaki produced a 2 stroke 750 triple in the 70's? One of those engines would be my choice. People used to use them as drag engines in customs frames and they flew!. It'd probably cost more that you are willing to spend on this project unless you want to have some fun with it for a while. Bring it to the drag strip :)

    Seeing you work on these so much. How can you check the oil pressure or tell if it's working? Have you tried the 450 timing chain in a 400ex? I just got me a 2001 I hear some ticking in a little bit of chain clanking on the right side I think I'm going to get another chain and probably another cam. I'm about to reach out the carburetor because when you give it some gas it falls on his face but when you let off the gas it picks up so I'm thinking it's a jet problem..

    Lean back when you wheelie I know you are trying to see over the bars but if you lean back the bike will stay up better you’ll be able to ride the gear much longer

    If you would chill out on the throttle after getting it up you could ride it all day long part of wheeling is throttle control

    You can’t blame the crank bearing on the old owner. it was running when you got it. Don’t blame others for your faulties
