In this video, I demonstrate how to replace a sky using the new sky replacement tools in On1 Photo Raw 2022. During the tutorial, I explain what each slider does and I demonstrate how to import your own sky images into On1.

I purchased a few of the Ocudrone skies and watched your video carefully to import them into On1 Raw 2022. And thanks to you, I was successful. I was also able to import them into Luminar 4. And I learned that Ocudrone doesn't limit you to only 1 software program, which was the impetus for me to purchase them. Thanks.

Nice tutorial, except no info on rotating/flipping sky images. Maybe this isn't possible. Here's the situation to which I'm referring: sometimes the chose sky had a light directoin different from the image into which you're pasting it. As a photoshop user, I have the workaround of flipping the image in photoshop before going to sky swap, then flipping again after getting back to PS. If I were working exclusively in Skyswap, I don't see how to flip things. The On1 user guide isn't of any help.

Have ON1 tweaked this recently? I downloaded the 14 day trial and wasn’t very impressed with sky replacement. I tried it with multiple images but couldn’t make it work - in each case, the new sky covered parts of the image where it wasn’t supposed to. It seemed to work well for you though. Thanks for posting.

It looks off without any water reflection. Good to know how to correct it now

I raised the issue of poor results often achieved by On1's sky replacement feature with On1 Support and was told they were aware of the issues but no ETA for a fix. Quite frankly, this should have been fixed in beta! Even the sliders can't solve the issue of buildings being swamped by a new sky...
Any thoughts on this Anthony? Try processing a more difficult image and see what you get. I still need to revert to L4, which at least can now be used as a plug-in with On1 PR 2022.

Anthony you didn't bring the sky down between the trees?

How do you change the size of the sky? I want it smaller than the photo itself.

Never been able to get this to work well with blurry backgrounds. This is great for simple replacements, but the halos in blurry backgrounds are horrible. But, the same thing happens in Ps. Nowhere near perfect.

It seems to me one has to be very careful in setting up any sort of reflection. As an example, in this video the lowest clouds are in the distant background and would not show any reflection because they would actually be behind the building. The reflection as positioned would suggest these lower clouds were almost directly above the building. One needs to consider distances and angles which can be pretty tricky.

You didn't discuss cleaning up the tree edges against the sky, if necessary.

ON1PR is very buggy and has been for many years. The sky replacement feature is nice when it works. I prefer Luminar 4 for sky replacements though. ON1 support is horrible. Not disappointing or bad. HORRIBLE. I can't imagine any actual pro photographer depending on ON1 in a production environment although there are a few shills who claim they use it regularly. I left Adobe when they forced customers to take the subscription service. In retrospect I should have gone to CapOne or some far more reliable software. I like the ON1 features but if they don't start acting like a serious, professional company I will be forced to bail on them. I would *NEVER* recommend ON1 to anyone.
