I take a Deep Dive into this Filter today and help to clear things up. There are 5 Modes unique to ON1's Texture Filter and they are Normal, Subtle, Lighter, Darker and Replace. I break down these 5 different Modes and show you how they correspond to different Blend Modes, which I believe will be the key to help you understand ON1's Texture Filter... Another great ON1 tutorial, Dave! Textures are magical. You asked if we used textures from elsewhere. My faves are textures from Topaz Studio2 where you do awesome tutorials. They are so good that I use them almost daily. your tutorials on Topaz Studio2 are legendary! Keep up the good (great) work! Regards, Bob (U.K).
Dave, this was timely and exceptional. I was confused with the Texture filter and couldn't figure out why. With normal blend mode "enabled," I'm ready to get back in the batter's box with the Texture filter and take some more swings!
Thanks Dave this was an excellent into to On1 Textures, would love to see a full texture edit sometime and also like to see your approach to using textures using Photoshop sometime which is where I’ve done all of my texturizing.
I had been using another editing program to apply a texture, but the program is no longer supported. Also I use an M1 Mac and that program will not work as a plugin on an M1. I mentioned in a previous comment that I recently purchased ON1, so once again your video is uncannily timely and very very helpful. Most appreciated.
Dave Great video. Is there a way to shift the texture to the background? With the texture that you demo it appear that the texture was put on the bird as well.
To be honest with you Dave, this may be as you put it "one of the best ones on the market", but it comes at a steep price in my opinion: overly complex and frustrating to learn and use. Your video here testifies to that in my view. Not fun!
Somehow I missed this in July. On1Raw has been my go-to software for a few years but I've been unimpressed with the Textures filter and usually load the image into Topaz Studio 2 to apply textures. This video has shown me that ON1 Textures is 'usable' but without your explanation a lot of its power is shrouded in mystery and/or hidden! I'll need to watch this video a few more times to try to get my head around things. Thanks and cheers from DownUnder 🦘

Thanks again Dave. More about on one, that's been a mystery for a long time, opened up and demystified. Great job. I'll be giving it a shot.
This tutorial was more than useful! Really great! Thank you!
This is fairly comprehensive. I learned quite a bit. Thank you for creating and posting this video.

Nice tutorial. My ability to successfully use textures is weak. This tutorial gives me inspiration to try again. Thanks Dave!

I use textures as backgrounds: Open png image in edit, add color fill layer, move layer under png layer and then use "textures" as usual.

Good explanation of a confusing layout I agree making everything standard would be less confusing. More texture videos would be good

Excellent tut Dave. A longer more detailed vid would be helpful. Thanks
Dave - Add me to the group who would appreciate more TH-cam videos on adding textures. Lowell
