Really great lesson. Lately I've woke up and really started to just learn the essence of guitar playing and not just learning song and i'm having a lot more fun doing that. Thank you for these ideas.💯
Thanks for sharing your knowledge to the world i appreciate it! Im only working part time this summer, so i find myself having lots of time to learn guitar. I really really appreciate your videos
Tyler… you are a savage bro. I don’t want to ever see that you’ve given up on TH-cam. It’s there for ya bud. Success on this platform is in the palm of your hands. Get out there take it!
It's amazing how last year I couldn't really play these licks so I'd sing them instead to remember but now that I'm able to play, I use them often haha. So tasteful Thank you Tyler!
This video format is godsend. So much info in just 6 minutes, makes me feel like my practice sessions are much more full and its so satisfying. Thank you so much!! from a beginner guitarist haha :)
You're a great Teacher! Liked, subscribed, and clicked the bell to be notified! Thanks for taking the time, effort, and compassion to make this video. You're appreciated.
i love these chords !! I need a 2 ... 3 min track of the 4 basic chords to play along and experiment with, I would be very happy about your help. best regards patrizio italiano
Love your clean vibe. Man that guitar and strap are some beauties. I just learned the term neo soul today. I’m loving it. I always kind of skat pick. I like how the chords sound more open and can prob have a hip hop type beat in them too. I dunno tho. I broke my hand a year ago and I can barely make certain chords as it is. It’s actually sad to read these comments like this is FUN. After you have an injury like mine. Guitar went from being fun to more of a task or chore now. Sucks. Anywho. Gonna keep at it. 🙏

Hi there! I didn’t create all of these licks, but the approach I take to making my own licks or repurposing licks from others starts is mostly trial and error. If it’s a lick I learn from another player, I will take the extra step of finding the key and noting which chords the lick is played over (6 chord moving to the 4 chord for example). After that, I try the lick over other chords and chord progressions in the same key using a looper pedal. Same thing applies for my own licks (minus the extra step of reverse engineering the context). I’ll try and explain this process in more detail in a future video.
On the demo progression part what is that last string or chord that your hitting at the end of each the dm7 am7 em7 and fm7 chords is it hybrid picking ? Thank you for the great content btw man !
It’s been a while but I believe I was playing through some kind of Fender amp emulation on my PodGO. Most likely a Deluxe Reverb patch. In this video I’m using Spring reverb, 10 gauge strings, and I’m playing on the neck position.
cover beautiful lies? i wanna learn that / the licks. you play the way i want to sound. please do this video bro. And great job i just found this video and im subbing and hitting the bell Great job Bro!!
It’s the A note located on the 7th fret of the D string. It’s a little bit quiet because it’s being tapped, but you’re welcome to pick it as well. Hope that helps!
It feels like not knowing the fretboard is holding me back. I've been playing for 6 years. thanks for the video. I'm always looking for how to get to the next level (the Marty/Justin comment is real)
Thanks for watching! I definitely suggest taking the time to memorize where the notes are on the fretboard and learning at least 2 shapes for every chord and scale you know. Time consuming, but worth it, in my opinion.
@@TizoGuitarbro this spot on I finally opened up my chord book and learned 4 additional chord shapes for some of the chords I play and it’s a game changer.
Context mostly. R&B is technically blues with different chord progressions and rhythms. Many of the same licks work for both genres but they sound different when played over min7/maj7 chords (R&B) vs dominant7 (blues) chords.
Hi 👋🏾 The licks are moveable, but to move them to the correct key for your song/backing track you would either have to know the larger scale shape that they belong to and transpose accordingly or move each lick around by 1 fret at a time until you find the spot where they sound correct. I’ll have to do a video on transposing licks in the future.
For that lick, we’re playing quick triplets so it probably sounds rushed in comparison to the tempo of the backing chords. I might be rushing a bit, but the timing sounds like what I was going for.
Backing track can be found here: tinyurl.com/4ydnzhcf
Please do more licks videos, these are great !
The first lick so simple but is awesome.

Nice clean and smooth..... you get thumbs up for playing on a PRS.

Great lesson! very few guitar instructors can teach these gems. I like how you slow it down so a beginner can learn it.

That second one put a big ass smile on my face. I love it
Excellent 👍🏽 finally someone of TH-cam that keeps things simple and avoid using the 10000th degree of distortion.

Is there somewhere where you talk about how you created this licks? Specially how they relate to chords you are playing? Thank you

You’re welcome!

The picking pattern is alternating between playing the chords one string at a time (chords 1 & 3) and playing the strings all at once (chords 2 & 4).
Nice!! More licks
I like all three but the third is my favorite

Hello. What amp and pedals are you playing thru here? What pick up position and string guages. Love your tone.

what’s the last note you’re playing after each chord on the first lick?
It’s the A note located on the 7th fret of the D string. It’s a little bit quiet because it’s being tapped, but you’re welcome to pick it as well. Hope that helps!
Great!!!!

How do I get the background music/chord progression?
Backing track is available on my Patreon page: tinyurl.com/4ydnzhcf
Excellent just subscribe. More rhythm with solo mix

That PRS thoooo
How do you think about R&B licks vs blues licks?

man goat
What is going on at the 5:47 mark
How does one translate these licks to a different key tho?
Hi 👋🏾 The licks are moveable, but to move them to the correct key for your song/backing track you would either have to know the larger scale shape that they belong to and transpose accordingly or move each lick around by 1 fret at a time until you find the spot where they sound correct. I’ll have to do a video on transposing licks in the future.

What type of guitar is that ???
PRS CE 24
Why does it sound like that second lick is being rushed?
For that lick, we’re playing quick triplets so it probably sounds rushed in comparison to the tempo of the backing chords. I might be rushing a bit, but the timing sounds like what I was going for.
Beautiful and tasty. I subscribed.
what guitar is this
PRS CE 24
i’ve learned like 3 songs from your videos this week alone. just subbed, love the content bro
Much appreciated! 🙏🏾
can I move next door to you??
😂
This makes me wish I had an electric guitar instead of an acoustic
What does key of c major mean?
The key tells you what notes and chords should be played. C Major has the notes C D E F G A and B so those are the notes we want to use in this case.
@@TizoGuitar thank you so much for taking the time to reply
