Just found this video- it caught my eye because of the Keep Gate Closed sign. Back in the 90s when I was able to ride we had a terrible barn owner/trainer that constantly left the gate to the indoor arena open while giving lessons. The third time I ever cantered in huntseat she had me doing circles at the end of the arena where we were going counter clockwise, therefore facing the open gate; the biggest problem with this was that the opening was straight in front of the horse’s stall. I was concentrating on everything wrong with my form and realized that JJ was not turning but intended to leave the arena and return to his stall. I have never tried to turn so fast in my life, but the fence was too close- HE stopped in time. I flew over his head and into said fence hard enough to break my helmet, knock the gate loose and spend about 5 minutes “swimming” in the dirt trying to figure out which direction “up” was. It was a marvelous experience! I’m just starting to binge these videos, they’re awesome!
I haven't paid my board yet. But it's because I was in the hospital and have had a ton of doctor's appointments since then. I'm probably going to need surgery. Glad I have an understanding barn owner. She'll be getting paid for 2 months today.
Like when they’re jumping or something they suddenly think, what if I jumped the fence or like when they are making horse feed they think, would this be okay to eat? That kind of thing 😊
