Does a similar method exists for not metahumans ? I'm not a fan of the metahumans, they need to change a lot in my opinion. The body shapes are to generic and the heads looks too big, they need to be more aestheic and prettier.
Technically, you could use this technique to simply create the face animation, and then retarget it to your model (whose face would have to be rigged, of course).

Can this be done with live audio? Or only pre recorded?
This particular use case -- at least at the time of production -- is for pre-recorded audio only, whether for gameplay animation or cinematics.

you can custom your own metahuman, then use the method
