Kevin Nealon is the best at being innocently insulting and referring to a joke told 5 minutes earlier. So consistently funny and never grossly offensive. Super creative and out of left field thinking. I always get the impression that he is also a very nice man. He was making Conan work up a bit of a sweat on this one which is always enjoyable especially with Sona laughing.

They both have the same sense of humor. It's like watching a mirror match in a video game.
But absolutely different style of delivery.
Nealon is subtle, Conan is anything but.
This was almost as good as the time nardwuar interviewed eric andre
And Sona, her delightful laugh and her jabs at Conan are the icing on this magical cake!
Conan is empathetic as well. He did not want to make fun of 300 lb people. They do not have the same sense of humor. I have been watching Conan shows since 1998, this guy is exceptional. He comes across as an excellent human being while being super funny.
They definitely don't have the same sense of humor. Conan is self deprecating and silly. Nealon is much more cocky and a bit insecure. He's non committal and needs constant validation and attention. That's why he has such a hard time interviewing people, because he doesn't really care about what they have to say. Conan is insecure but in a way that just needs you to laugh at him. Why do you think Sona is always around? Kevin will attack people to make himself feel better about himself. Conan never does that, but he does defend himself.
This has become my most replayed episodes. Kevin is a master troll, Conan and Sona did so well handling it. This was a masterpiece.

Kevin Nealon is massively underrated, he's always trying interesting new things that no other comedian does, a super creative comic, and and he's always had really good banter with Conan.

This was like a heavyweight championship boxing match of improv. Kevin had Conan on the ropes at times. Fantastic.
You are not analyzing it correctly. Conan was never on the ropes, the only thing that happens here is Nealon making a fool of himself

Most comedians/celebrities in the 20 years are 1 dimensional....just hollow fame.....pretty rare these days to find depth, intelligence, humor, and authenticity in individuals....

"This is more than great comedy. It's two people who know about each other. Like an old friend who has drifted away but he gets who you truly are despite whatever socio economic difference you have now that once you didn't have, you both know the line to tow & stretch it without crossing it.
Or its like meeting a guy who you were friend with when you were married & were the double date couple, you have a great understanding of each other so when you meet it clicks but you know you can't make it permanent because of other situations so you have to tread the line & just reminisce.
No guest knew the ways of Conan better than Nealon, maybe Dana Carvey did but he wasn't intuitive as Nealon who just absorbs things. Like the "don't attack me" is all about the passive aggressive trait of Conan, Sona who knows Conan the best even didn't spot that but Nealon noticed it in a sec. Same with Conan spotting Nealon shifting topics when asked to open up."
This is like watching Space Ghost Coast to Coast except it's actually two human beings in real life. These are people who exist.

I never knew how funny Kevin Nealon was until this interview. I heard this on Spotify and I was cracking up. Not sure if he tours the UK but it would be great to see him.
Please do yourself a favor and look up clips of "Mr. Subliminal" a character of his from SNL. Its amazingly funny.
Kevin Nealon is one of those people that can't be serious, ever. Everything is a joke no matter what. Conan tries to get him to be serious and it's a complete trainwreck.

Kevin loves being perfectly infuriating and it's great.
4:19-4:26 was especially great. Only Kevin and a small number of others can so perfectly/comedically raise the octave in their tone to say 'I Feel Bad For You', in such an eloquently sincere sounding, yet simultaneously condescending way. Gets me every time. Legend.
This was such a painfully funny episode. The old school guys like Spade, Short and Nealon deliver every time. I’m assuming we’ll be seeing full episodes online soon (please)…. seems like the studio is fully set up for it now. Seeing the smiles, the glances, the straw bits, etc makes for an even funnier experience.
Remarkable that Spade can be called an “old school guy” nowadays. So much time has passed lol

yeah I find Spade and Nealon actually sort of do a similar thing, lots of really short, really fast jokes that are just reactions. Spade is obviously more sarcastic (sometimes) and self deprecating whereas Nealon is sort of either a bit goofy, or hilariously mean, almost in a Rickles way but much more modern. Incredible to see 2 guys who have both been funny forever, and have known each other so long, it's borderline telepathic

Whenever I see these two, I always think of the talk show episode where Kevin kept saying that he had to leave, and then kept coming back to explain something else, over and over again.

Kevin is a true entertainer. Was lucky enough to see him do stand up live twice and he was excellent both times. A quick wit and genuinely funny guy. Great energy too!

2 of the most quick witted comedians ad libbing in the moment is very impressive. The number of funny things per minute is incredible for an interview. The majority of comedians do not have this many funny things per minute even in their preplanned best 10 minutes of material they spent the past two years working on.
Nealon is only funny here because of the dynamic with Conan busting his balls. When Nealon interviews other people then it's a mess
there's no stopping with these two, its just back and forth punchline after punchline :)
These two are ridiculous together, and I love it.
