Over the years, watching Daigo for over a decade, it never ceases to amaze me how the guy loses one round, seemingly on purpose, two basically learn his opponent, inside and out, and then go on to punish him in every trade-off, and win every round following that. Akuma foregoes the social side and does atrocious and dangerous things to his own body for the sake of strength. One could say the real punches to the face were the friends we met along the way.

When I play, all you see is me movin back and forth, jumpin, throwin a few kicks and punches, and squeezin out fireballs/hadukens cuz that's the only thing I can do with about 80% success rate.. and the hurricane kick lol. I used to whoop ass back in the day at the arcade when Sagat was fully clothed lol. Mom blessed me with a roll of quarters at the laundromat and let me go have fun. But, I'd burn half that roll on ninja turtles lol. Kudos to everyone that can keep up with these e-sports, making damn good money too.
Fun fact - if you watch what you fight stances a lot he goes into Philly shell all the time. Older versions of Street fighter Ken did it way more and it was way more noticeable
Honestly, i feel like Ryu's OD Donkey Kick > SA2 is so underrated right now. For two bars of Drive Meter, you get roughly 3500 damage and your opponent gets sent flying to the corner. If you want Oki, you can also do a H Tatsu immediately afterwards too. But just in general, I think OD Donkey Kick is underrated right now. Instead of spending three bars to do a drive rush cancel, you can just spend two bars to do a OD donkey kick and then combo it with Tatsu to get oki.

1st battle: Ryu is in a good mood to fight, so he doesn't focus that much 2nd battle: Akuma showed him that it's no time for games and now fights him with a full force 3rd battle: after the last battle Akuma still tries to show himself a same result as before, but due to cockiness, he fails. 4th battle: This time, Akuma is filled with meditation to know Ryu's attacks and counter him and succeeded 5th battle: After that Akuma is now feeling comfortable and tries to go easy against Ryu, but then it wasn't a good idea for him since he lost 6th battle: Ryu is finally getting comfort and giving Akuma "a worthy opponent" vibe, showing what Gouken taught him, but unfortunately failed 7th battle: Akuma tries to show him "Is that what you can do? You pathetic fool!" to make Ryu fight easier, and that worked. 8th battle: Akuma is showing his fighting spirit yet again to show himself who he is, but again due to cockiness, he's defeated. 9th and last battle: Now Ryu is feeling more chill after overcoming Akuma's attacks and fights like it's his usual thing. Result: Ryu has finally proved himself that Power of Nothingness was worth to train after all of those years and gave Akuma a message "once we'll meet again"
Daigos spacing and ability to close the gap with constant pressure is insane. Both players played one of the best matchups I’ve seen in awhile.
